The Frog God wants there to be multiple reasons to get this new treasure whether or not folks already have the older versions of this most dangerous dungeon.
I hope it's a series of essays on how maps and battle grids are bad for the imagination and are only good for ROLLplaying, not ROLEplaying!!

I own the first two parts of the original publication (and part 3 as .pdf). Never gotten around to play much of it though.
Question: Will there be a map booklet?
OMG! OMG! OMG!
They're gonna be scratch-n-sniff, aren't they?!
Woohoo!!!!

Do NOT sniff the Wand of Orcus.
Or the well.
You have been warned.

Hmmmmm...Paizo reverse engineered the neh-thallgu/brain collector. How hard would that be to do with the gibbering orb? To a manageable non-epic mid-level CR I mean.
There is one (well a lich version) incidentally in Slumbering Tsar 9 that performs that exact function. A fact probably not lost on Skeet in his conversions. :-)

From my understanding, earlier versions of this dungeon were box sets (or a box set) for Rappan Athuk. I am assuming there were folded maps that came with the box set(s). It’s a shame that since this will be a tome, that the maps will only be self-contained in the book itself. It’s of course much better where a map can be folded out and your minis can be placed on it.
Is there anything else that came with the box set that we will lose with it going to book format?
Either way, I still plan to pre-order in March/April, have never experienced Rappan Athuk before.

The original Rappan Athuk was three individual modules R1,R2,R3 (no special maps) Rappan Athuk Reloaded was a box set limited to 1000 copies which had three books inside, the actual adventure, the book of NPC and monster stats and the map book. There is also some free downloadable stuff from the old Necromancer Games website.

Ok, so there were never any battle maps that came with the boxed sets and we won’t really be losing anything. Thanks for the responses.
A request to FGG, it would be really nice to see some battle maps for these wonderful adventure tomes you are putting out (Tsar, Rappan Athuk). I know your funds are not as much as other larger companies, but I know I would buy the additional battle maps and I am sure others would as well, especially if you can do so in color. :)

It would be a nice addition, I agree.

Yeah, I figure if Paizo cannot make battle mats happen for their adventure paths; there is no way we would see them for this book.
I am very much looking forward to this one...
I really only buy from three companies now. Paizo, FGG, and an occasional Open Design product.
Then we are in rarified company indeed. Thanks for your support, Shem!

Fine company to be associated with. Thanks, Shem!

I wasn’t talking about doing the entire floor of each of the 50 floors, but battlemaps maybe for the more epic encounters for each floor. And even then I would have figured each floor would be released on some sort of schedule, never assumed for them to be released all at once.
However, I think that is a great idea by Kthulhu in partnering with another company to do the battlemaps. Although if it is done where you have the option to toggle the DM info on and off, I am assuming that is referring to a digital map. As long as a nice quality hardcopy battlemap would be sold as well, I am all for it.

There will be at least one more teaser announcement for RA before the big holiday with the guy in the red suit.
And its going to be good.

I went to the Necromancer website to attempt to download some of the free stuff but was asked for a download password. Anyone know what that would be?

The passwords for opening the pdfs of the supplemental stuff are on side 1 of the modules right under the credits.
So I presume if you do not have any of the modules you cannot get the downloads?

That's correct. The only thing you can download is the Special "R2-47" Download for Rappan Athuk . The password is on the support page on the end of RAI.

That is correct, but you have no need for these downloads if you wish to play in the campaign when I run it.

There is a history between Wolfthulhu and I that I don't feel like explaining. However, I am running a Wednesday Pathfinder group through Danger at Daggerrock. So I try to pick up any free maps that I can. I never know when I might need a new locale for the players to die in. As a matter of fact I think I have all of the maps from Fantastic Maps. I used one during Second Darkness, the Tree Bridge. They print out pretty good.
