Shadow Lodge

To build anticipation.

Can't wait to see what the next massive tome from the Frog God is past Slumbering Tsar and Rappan Athuk.

While I obviously can't give specific details (because then Skeeter will get mad at me, and nobody wants to see Skeeter get mad), what I can say is that we're not doing what you describe as "quick-'n'-dirty." We're putting in a lot of effort to keep the feel of the encounters as close to the original as possible, even when that results in more work.

Perfect. That's exactly what I wanted to know, and that's exactly what I wanted to hear.

You wanted to know I was one of the designers working on it? Aw, that's so nice of you. ;)

Reading this thread makes me want to say, one more time: Thank you, Ryan Dancey!

The gift that keeps on giving.

1000 page RA Pathfinder rewrite..sweet merciful heavens..I'd love this only the postage costs as usual will kill me...so it'll be PDF for this one.

How many RA PbP's will we see here come next Easter? Who know's but I'll bet there will be some.

I've been working my way through Tome of Horrors Complete and was thinking about RA, and wanted to request that RA include an attached bookmark strip (or 2). It would have been nice for ToHC, but even more useful for a mega-adventure where you might want to frequently refer back to a particular page (such as the current level map, etc.) I'd care more about a useful feature like this more than a leather cover (though both would be great!)

When ToH was coming out, I really wanted a nice, red silk (or silk-like) bookmark, but I couldn't find any at the local Barnes and Nobles and internet searches turned up nothing. Now, if I wanted a Twilight bookmark, I'd have been all set.

Question for a completess...

I have almost everything Necromancer Games ever did other than the Rappan Ahtuk Reloaded box set. Most of them I had to track down over time.

My questions is:

There is a series of modules with a K designation.

Is there a K8 or a K11? It is a touch confusing if not.

I know Bill and Chuck and maybe even Clark can let me know if they exist and if so what the titles are.

Thanks...

I am pretty possitive I have everything necromancer has made and there is no K8 or K11 really, K8 is the lost Necromancer module and K11 is or was Slumbering Tsar

I hate you so much right now. Why must you continue to make such massive, awesome books?

First i bought ToH thinking it would be the biggest book i'd ever own!

then i pre-ordered tSS thinking that THAT would be the biggest book i'd ever own!

Now i hear about this... Oh well, at least a have a few months to save up.

C'mon now, don't be that way. RA will only weigh in at several hundred pages (500-600), not nearly the spine-crushing page count of the other two tomes...this is not an official declaration of page count, I could be wrong, and it could be a lot more..."nothing to see here, please move along"

Frog God Games

The "K" series were simply books published by Kenzer. If I'm correct, then K8 is "The Mother of All Treasure Tables".

K11 is Slumbering Tsar which got nixed (along with K12 - Eamonvale Incursion) when 4E was announced.

This is true. Skeeter pulled that page-count number from his nether area. :)

Normally I would ask this on the NG boards but I didn't see a thread for the Northlands Saga, so.....

1. Where is the actual discussion thread for the Northlands Saga product?

and

2. Has there been any progress on the Northlands Saga stuff? The product decription for part 3 says that it has a predicted ship date of May 2011.....

My gaming group loves northern viking/conan-style adventuring so we were pretty excited about this product line (it was supposed to stretch across 10 adventures IIRC?); hopefully Northlands Saga is going to get some love soon?

Good gaming to all,

The Northlands Saga has been delayed but we are trying to get back on track.

NS3 is not printed as yet.
NS2 Beyond the Wailing Mountains has arrived. Some have been purchased and shipped out to customers already.
Order Here if you want one.

To answer your question, the series is indeed set to go for 10 adventures, not all of which are connected. NS 1 & 2 are linked. NS 3 is not directly linked except by virtue of cultural and climatic zones.

I will buy it yes.

Frog God Games

I just received the final art of NS3 tonight, so it will be going into layout tomorrow and hopefully have a rough off to the editors by tomorrow afternoon.

Frog God Games

Also, NS4 has been written and is currently going through development. Kenneth Spencer is hard at work on NS5. We loves us some Northlands Saga. :-)

For discussion try here or here on the paizo product pages. Each product sold in the paizo shop has/can have a product discussion thread attached to it.

Thanael,

Thanks for looking up those links, and to the FGG guys, thanks for the good news on the NS stuff. Between Paizo and FGG, my group's gaming future is looking pretty dang bright. Of course, my players' characters may not love you so much after I run them through Slumbering Tsar next year ;)

Good gaming to all,

Frog God Games

Here we are in November, and news for the month is as follows:
1. Slumbering Tsar 11 is out, and 12 is in final editing.
2. Northland Saga 2 is out, and 3 is in layout! Look for several more volumes of this soon.

3. TOAD arrives this week late to me, so will ship December 1. The pre-order price goes away as soon as I ship the first book--so act now and save $8!

4. Rappan Athuk is progressing, still slated for a July/August release.Oh yeah, its gonna have a textured faux leather cover.

5. Black Monastery is in final proofing. Pre-order sales will begin around December 1. Release in late January/early February. price will be $39.99 preorder, $44.99 after.

6. Tsar subscription orders will end the day after Tsar 14 releases. This book will cost a fortune to print, so I will not be making any extras. Paizo will have a (very) limited number for sale. I believe it will be the largest RPG book ever made. Shipping invoices will be mailed to subscribers as soon as I know the final weight, although I am trending to send it flat rate priority mail to everyone (probably a large box to make sure its heavily insulated from damage.

7. Several new SNS/ONS books are in various stages of work process....news on them a bit later.

8. SW softcover rulebooks will be for sale again in about 1 week, reprints will arrive soon.

9. I have received reprint copies of ONS 3 (Spire) and Fane of the Fallen--so they are for sale again.

10. The Frog Family will be visiting their poison arrow relatives in Costa Rica from Feb 10-March 15. No orders will be processed during that time, so please try to get everything in prior to Feb 5 or so so I can pack and ship before Mrs. Frog makes me get on an airplane!

11. My Ebay site will soon have a ton of old stuff listed (estimate 2-3 weeks). This will include hundreds of Warhammer miniatures (some were competition level models from when I used to play the world circuit---painted usually by GW staff), Traveller oops from the 1970s and 1980s, Forgotten Realms and Al Quadim books, and other stuff. I simply don't have room in my warehouse and office for the stuff anymore, so after filling 3 buildings up, I decided I had to get rid of some of it. The Gamelord's and JG stuff of course, is never going up for sale.

12. FGG will be attending North Texas RPG Con in Dallas in June, as well as PaizoCon in July. Look us up there. NTRPG is even going to make an exception and let Greg run a Pathfinder table. Matt and I will be running Mythus Tower almost continuously for 4 days, of course.

13. About 50 copies of SW Tome of Horrors are left--order now, or forever hold your peace. NTRPG will also have 50 copies for sale; but once these 100 are gone, that's all folks!

I'm excited for more of the SNS/ONS modules. Those have been excellent so far.

I will see you at both NTRPG and PaizoCon, and I can't wait to play in Mythus Tower!

December 1st, I will mark that down. Ever since I heard about you and read the Black Monastery description I have wanted that book. Right up my alley. I can't wait.

Are you happy to ship to Australia?

Also, any chance you could post a link to this Ebay site?

When it's up we'll post a link.

As far as Australia is concerned, I believe we have at least one frequent purchaser who resides in Australia, so that is completely doable. Though shipping rates will cost more, obviously. Check with Bill Webb via email once the new stuff gets added to the ebay store site, to be sure.

Cheers. I got the impression there was already a site there - my mistake. Shipping rates is an unfortunate fact of life down here.

We have nice beaches though.. :p

The Ebay site is Ebay. The seller is Necromancergames. Bill probably just doesn't have all the other stuff up that he is adding for sale, but he always has a Ebay listing.

Hey! A fellow Aussie! Shipping's an absolute b*$%* aint it? I recently bought a couple savage worlds books from another company where the post was a couple bucks over what I paid for the books themselves :s The guy seemed pretty nice though and he said he'd throw in a few freebies :)

About shipping: I ordered my TOH Complete Limited late from Nobleknightgames and they offered a very reasonable postage rate to germany at $15 something.

I wasn't able to get Rappan Athuk Reloaded so I'm kind of curious what you've done to replace certain major non-OGL monsters in the book:

Spoiler:
I mean there are several beholders and an entire level of mind flayers in the originals. What have you done to replace them - or do you have special permission to use them?

They're being replaced with OGL-compatible monsters.

Best answer EVER!

Beholder = Ocular Magic Ball Creature

Mindflayers = Tentacled Brain Eating Bad Men!

I don't believe either of those names are copyrighted.

There, I adjusted that for you. (I couldn't resist...) I can just see it...

"It is certain."

That's good, although I like Mindflayers I always thought that Beholders were just sill ridiculous monsters.

While specifics are up to others to share, I don't think Skeeter will kick me in the shins for saying that a lot of thought and effort is being put into these replacements. We're not just grabbing the first critter with the same CR and tossing it in there.

Sorry. Not trying to be snarky. I'm not involved on this project other than in a sort of advisory capacity. This is really Skeeter Green's baby, so I really don't know specifics. But like Zherog said, I know they are looking not only challenge levels but also thematic compatibility and mechanical similarity wherever possible.

For example, in Slumbering Tsar I had to replace an umber hulk. I ultimately replaced it with a gug. Not a perfect match, but both are creepily humanoid shaped aberrations that are otherwise completely alien to the average humanoid. Not a perfect CR match, but I was replacing an advanced specimen, so I was able to match it up pretty well. One has fairly insectoid characteristics and the gug has, well...whatever you would call it that a gug has. A gug can't burrow, but it's an expert at squeezing through small spaces underground. No mandibles, but a big ol' honkin' bite. The claws do less damage but there are more of them, and both once again give a very alien vibe in similar ways. Really the only thing missing is the confusion gaze.

So that is an example of the replacement philosophy that I believe Skeeter is exercising if that helps any.

One of the nice things we've been able to do by replacing the non-OGL critters is use different monsters in different places. By that, I mean not every umber hulk is replaced with XX monster. In the Great Cavern for instance, umber hulks are replaced by at least 2 other creatures. One of them does happen to be a gug, as Greg has used in Tsar (interesting tie-in there, that I had no plan to do...I wonder what that means in Orcus's backstory).

I also know that the beholders in the various locations are replaced by 3-4 different creatures. So, anyone who has played through the RA meatgrinder in previous editions can look forward to something different in several locations.

Not to mention all the new levels/locations

Rappan Atthuk for PF?? Exciting! I own the first two parts of the original publication (and part 3 as .pdf). Never gotten around to play much of it though.

Question: Will there be a map booklet?

At this time, I do not believe there is going to be a stand-alone map booklet, but there IS going to be something nice and new regarding "maps"...

Several new somethings by several talented individuals is what I heard. The Frog God wants there to be multiple reasons to get this new treasure whether or not folks already have the older versions of this most dangerous dungeon.
