depends what you're after TFG.
I have one called Dungeon hunter that I find fairly amusing for some light entertainment.
Solomons keep is also great as a little no brainer run around blasting things game.
I really like Infinity blade, but its repetative. The idea behind it is good though.
Those ones are all fantasy type games (hack, slash, magic)
I use the thing extensively for the classes I teach as well, and therefore have a bunch of problem solving apps on it.
Whirlywords is fun, and addictive for someone like me who likes word problems.
All in one Logic Gameox is also superb. In fact, I am going to use logic box stuff as a puzzle for my players in a Pathfinder session coming up and time them on how long it takes real time to solve. I'll use this as a base time and apply modifiers based on how well the characters do in any skill rolls they think might help. It's great.
And for quirky fun - Run stick run, cartoon wars, fruit ninja and angry birds (go for the Rio version, its excellent).
Anyway, they're just suggestions if you want to check them out. Most of them have "lite" versions which mean you can try them free before buying the whole thing.
Also, if you don't already have it, grab GoodReader so you can use any PDF's you own on you iPad. I have all my roleplay books on there now and its all I take as reference documents to my games now. Has cut down on my carry load amazingly.
Cheers

Avadon - The Black Fortress is a good turnbased fantasy game ala Baldur's Gate.
Battle For Wesnoth is also a good turnbased fantasy game, but its' based on missions (like Starcraft/Warcraft). You don't play the story so much as the story links the missions together.
There's the obligatory Angry Birds, and Edge isn't bad (but I can't get the hang of "holding the edge" very well).

Good suggestionos all. I have a boring job, so I'll most likely work my way through all all of these. Thanks all and keep em coming if you know of more.
BTW, Touch Arcade is a good source of info for ipod/ipad games. (Especially for when games go on sale/free.)

Galaxy on Fire 2 was fun and the DLC was colorful.
I've been meaning to buy StarPagga as an X-Wing/Tie Fighter space flight sim style game.
If I wasn't so pissed at Square Enix price structure I'd say ChaosRings was actually rather fun... however at this point I wouldn't recommend it or any of their Apps.
While it's an iPhone game I liked MetalWars2, but then again I was a sucker for the old ArmoredCore games through the PS 1&2 eras. Not such a big fan of where they went on the Xbox.
Majesty is fun if you're looking for something different in the RTS line.
Katamari amore is out, bought the full pack, just a f*** annoyingly fun as the console Katmaris.
Marathon, which is a port of the old Mac FPS. Add-ons recommend.
Catan HD (I have the iPhone version and am debating if I should buy HD or not)
Small World
