Savage Seer: Barb levels stack for Oracle's revelations?

Looking at this part of the Rage Prophet

Savage Seer: A rage prophet’s class level stacks with
barbarian levels
for determining the effect of his rage
powers, oracle revelations, and his oracle’s curse. This
does not grant additional abilities.

The wording is a little confusing

You can read that as Oracle level + Barbarian Level + Rage Prophet Level = Effective Oracle level for revelations and curse

or in other words Character Level = Oracle Level for revs and curse ?

And just on the last line, does not grant additonal abilites as in you don't get Oracle or barb class abilities for an effective level OR you don't get improved abilities within a revelation you've taken e.g. you took at 1st and it has a 7th level improvement.

no ideas ?

I'm also a little curious which rage powers have a level dependent effect ? are there any ?

Looks like you are getting no joy.

It is pretty much as written. Say you have a Oracle 5, Barbarian 1, Rage Prophet 1 - this means:

When raging the Barbarian is considered as 2nd level ie they get another 2 rounds of rage duration BUT they don't get any additional rage powers (as they would have if they had a 2nd level of barbarian). Oracle levels provide no benefit.

When it comes to the level of their Oracle revalations? Its level 6, not level 5, as well as working out any movement in the effects of their oracle curse. Barbarian levels provide no benefit.

Liberty's Edge

Obviously the wording is poor here but I think the idea is that the levels of rage prophet stack with the proper class levels for the class abilities.

was that faq'd ? as written it only effects "rage powers" not the "rage" ability

Thats what happens when I reply at midnight + and I am an armchair player... I read rage and rage powers as being one and the same. It makes sense to me as not a lot of rage powers are level affected but if you want to be the strict wording then sure, its only the rage powers and not the rage duration.

However it seems now you are clearer on the question than when you started so I am moving the goal posts and claiming it as a win.

Worse than that. Oracle 5 / Barbarian 1 doesn't qualify for Rage Prophet because you need Barbarian 2 to get Rage Powers.

Rage Prophet looks a lot better as a prestige class at first glance than at closer examination. Your existing revelations, curse, and rage powers improve with the rage prophet level, but you don't gain new ones and the levels don't count towards prerequisites for other rage powers or revelations (which you could otherwise take with extra revelation or extra rage pwoer). You also lose the bonus spells from your original mystery in favor of the weak rage prophet selection.

RP levels stack with barb levels and with oracle levels to determine the effects of rage powers, revelations, and curse. They do not qualify you for new powers that you don't already qualify for (based on your level in the base class), nor do they provide you with new 'slots' to take new rage powers or revelations, though you can use Extra Rage or Extra Revelation to gain them.

geeze talk about going blind

Thankyou ;)

I can see why I missed many of them, alot require 6 or more barbarian levels before you can take them making it difficult to benefit from Savage Seer ability until much later in your characters career.

It opens up an interesting door into a polymorphing rage prophet using either the Dark Tapestry, Flame or Waves Mystery. although not being able to take natural spell hurts the oracle casting but maybe as a heavy Barbarian focused Rage Prophet
