Damage for a large-category double hackbut?

Rules Questions

Dark Archive

So, the double hackbut in Ultimate Combat is clearly the pinnacle of musketeer technology, weighing in at 2d12 damage. I also noticed that the penalty for wielding an oversized firearm is only -2, which is VERY manageable for a Gunslinger.

Now, the question is: if I were to play a Gunslinger using a large double hackbut, what would it's damage be? 2d12 increases to... ?

I don't have the book, and so cannot tell you the stats on the weapon from here... but if the Double Hackbut is a 2-Handed Weapon, you cannot wield a large variant effectively.

It's right there in black and white in the weapon catagories section of the equipment portion of your core rule book.

Still important to know for the inevitable enlarged gunslinger.

Argh, you're right! Foiled! Killed in the coop!

Thanks for the help bro.

I guess the question still stands though: say I make an ogre Gunslinger - what damage does his double hackbut deal?

The damage would probably be 6D6. 2D12 isn't addressed specifically, but 1D12 is (it increases to 3D6, which would scale 2D12 to 6D6). Also, 4D6 increases to 6D6, and 4D6 is the closest equivalent for 2D12.

Doesn`t that not work for Ranged weapons? I do think there`s a spell that bumps damage size tier up, so effectively the same thing...

gravity bow.

Also note that you don't wild this thing. You set it up, then fire.

A large one doing 6d6 sounds reasonable. A large one with gravity bow would maybe do 6d8?

Just need this, Greater Vital Strike, and that barb feat that lets you end Rage to deal max damage on vital strike... Mmmm 192 damage.

I always forget that.

Ugh.
You guys realize this thing is s fortress weapon, mounted on wheels, that would be pretty much completely impractical in the field, right?

As for large 2D12 weapon damage, why not 3D12? seems to follow the trend...

In fantasy-land I conjure fire from my finger tips, take axes to the chest, and come back from death on a daily basis.

I will wheel my Doppelhaken around the battlefield too, by God.

I'd rather use it by backing into a corner or into a hallway and gods help anything that opens the door.

Why not just spring for a two-hundred-pounder-siege bombard, then? It could be on wheels, too!

Because that's what I'm going to use with my Siege Mage, not the Musket Master!

Siege Mage and Spellslinger are both Wizard Archetypes, therefore, they're either/or

well, could you reasonably weild a small one around without the wheels on it? its only 2d10 dmg thats still considerable
that and you would still incurr the -2 to hit

umm sry for the doulbe post my comp stuttered if the moderator would please :)
