I was reading the guide to Absalom today, and it mentioned that major contact between Absalom and Tian Xia was established by a massive Yixing junk, Tian Xia's equivalent of the treasure fleets, and people and things from that region were called 'Yixi' for a long time, before eventually being supplanted by 'Tian Xia', which natives apparently consider just as inaccurate.

I remember much kvetching when Unapprochable East came out and the Shou starting package included a katana. Finally it was stated that the people of Aber-Toril call all 'dem foreigners from the east' 'Shou'.

So you could play a Samurai from Wa or a Wu Jen from Kozukura and be called 'Shou' by the Westerners. :-)

See, they fixed it :)

Paizo doesn't have it quite so easy as they've already established detailed ethnicities in that part of the world, but just as simple a fix would work for me - several options have already been given in this thread.
