This is going to be a caravan combat, so I don't like our chances to win, but we should be able to get away. Plus, they might not all be Oni. Just most!
can we do anything to stack the cards in our favor... or maybe we could introduce the Oni to our spider friends. Well, not friends yet... but I still think it would be an awesome thing to have a spider for a mount. I could take a feat so I could speak with them... since they're insects and all... or maybe awaken one and make it intelligent. That's probably a terrible idea. Oh well.
A girl can dream.

Since the wedding is coming up in a few weeks in game time, Lio is spending enough gold to feed everyone an exceptional?meal. Plus real strawberries for the cake. Kyrademon, please let me know how much in total that is... around 100gp plus the price of fruit?

So, that ended up being what I would consider pretty much a classic example of Caravan combat with the design you decided to opt for. The enemy, having greater numbers, more mobility, etc., was able to put out more damage on a round-for-round basis, but the higher hit points of the Caravan - you kind of have armored tanks you can retreat back to to heal - let you outlast them until you were able to defeat them.
(Oh, and since you just defeated a foe that would have had around 3,000 combined total hit points by doing "108 hit points" of damage to them, there really is no need to grumble that you "do more damage than the Caravan does with one attack all by myself" - Caravan combat hit points are not identical to regular combat hit points.)

Against living enemies, I believe Alaric has done a total of 1 point of damage when he shot that raven with his crossbow.

A masterwork kitchen tool would cost 50 gp. A really good cookbook would cost something similar. Ingredients would be cheaper, ranging from 1 sp to 2 gp per pound for common ones.

She wanted me to mention to you that if Alaric is indeed ignoring or avoiding Lio, either at a specific moment or in general, she would prefer that to be posted (even if only once), because if you simply ignore Lio's posts, it will make her feel as a player that you think she's at fault OOC for whatever is going on IC between Alaric and Lio.
Alaric Graff |
1. Alaric actively dislikes Lio at this point.
2. Lio is responsible for this.
3. Alaric has a Heal of 17 and access to Cure spells. He doesn't need help delivering a child, especially not from a crazy person.
4. Several people stood by to help. Had they said something, they might have gotten a response.
5. I don't generally respond to "I'm standing here" posts because I don't find them very interesting. If I'm to respond to all of them now, it has to be to ALL of them, and not just to Lio's.
6. I don't want to give Lio ammunition to play the victim.
Does that give you everything you need?

I'm going to be on a business trip for the next week.
Have a great time (or as great as will allow you to do your work.
Assume Hrunndalf assists the birth by staying out of the way and keeping Lesser Restoration at hand.
That is so sweet, thank you. :)

Earplugs (3 cp for normal, so 6 cp for good, and 12 cp for great, 24 cp for masterful) ~ so 3 sp for FANTASTIC earplugs, Mel would like to pick up 25 pairs for 'sorry about crying baby' presents ~ 75 sp (or 7 gp, 5 sp)
a bunch of new and exciting spices for Rhost (possible masterwork bonus tools?) ~ 55 gp for masterwork tools, but how many 'charges' would that be in the case of Prof:cooking (guessing 10) ~ if so she wants to get 100 charges (or ~4 caravan meal uses) for 550 gp?

Hey, all. I'm sure all of you have noticed that my posting rate has slowed down and, today, rather petered out. Part of that has simply been busy-ness, but I am also finding that, after seven months of basically running game nonstop, I am in need of a break to recharge batteries.
I was planning on taking one anyway, when I leave for a trip in about a week, but I'm starting to think it might be better if I started it a little earlier than that. I'm currently trying to decide if I should post a bit over the next few days to wrap up some current scenes/plot points, or just drop everything cold turkey for a bit and resume when once again refreshed and eager. I will keep you all informed, and naturally you are all welcome to start or continue any roleplaying scenes which can proceed GM-free throughout whatever my time off ends up being.
In either case, I would plan on picking things up again when I got back from my trip (so on April 7th.)

I am fully in favor of a refreshed GM. So take what time you need, and we'll talk amongst ourselves.

So, yeah, after another hectic day, I'm thinking just a flat-out pause on GM posts will be best. I'd rather wait on current scenes until I can give them the time and effort to bring them to a nifty conclusion than rush them to a dashed-off endpoint and have them be blah.
(It's really no different from noticing at the table that it's one AM and things need to be paused in the middle of a scene. If we consider midnight to be the Ides of March. Or something. Anyway.)
So, yeah, I will plan on resuming on April 7th, and can send out a reminder e-mail that things are starting up again if people would like one.
Any scene that does not require my input can proceed or begin however you like.

The paizo people were trying to hook their servers up to a faster, speedier internets. Which broke stuff :).

It's self-promotional time of year again. If any of you will be (or know anyone who is) in or near the following places, you can catch our 21st annual iteration(*) of our bad movie awards show:
March 30, Northampton, MA (as part of Smith College's ConBust)
April 14, Ann Arbor, MI (the stand-alone show)
April 27-29 (exact date undetermined), Dearborn, MI (as part of Penguicon)
June 1 or 2 (one will be Year 21's show, one will be the "best" of years 16-20), Columbus, OH (as part of Origins Game Fair)
(*) I like the word iteration. Also, antepenultimate.

Alaric Graff wrote:Agreed. Also, agreed. Does Tommy Wiseau take the tickets himself?Dude! You have to make it out to LA!
If for no other reason than to see The Room in the theater.
He doesn't, but he often shows up for a Q&A and occasionally to recite one of Shakespeare's sonnets.

A few tips:
Shouting "Because you're a woman" after any of Lisa's lines is the Room's equivalent of adding "in bed" to fortune cookies. It's also fun to point out how much the movie hates women.
"Sestosterone" is the preferred way to express that leading man Greg Sestero (Mark) is doing something appropriately manly.
Mark's beard should also be roundly mocked. Or have its travel arrangements mentioned.
When Lisa asks about money, it's good to speculate on what sort of money she's talking about. Turkish Lira? Deutschmarks? Confederate greenbacks? The possibilities are endless.
Pay close attention to which picture Lisa corrects after the fight.
You will need to sing the Mission Impossible theme at one point. It should be fairly obvious when.
Denny should be greeted whenever he enters a room. When he leaves, it's good to say goodbye to him as well. The poor kidult is fragile.
Would you like to try the cheesecake? Everything's free!

I have officially begun updating again. Woot! A few quick comments, however:
As some of you who are my friends on Facebook might now, I returned home from my trip to find myself unemployed. However, this does not necessarily mean that I will now have endless scads of free time, because I've decided that it would be better to see this as an opportunity rather than a catastrophe. I have, after all, just run out of excuses not to write.
So I've decided to knuckle down and take being a professional writer seriously, which ideally means working on it like a real job. This will, most likely, actually take more time and energy than my previous employment.
I'm still planning to update game regularly, but it may be a once a day update period in the evening rather than my previous twice-daily-once-in-the-morning-and-once-in-the-evening-because-I-had-nothi ng-better-to-do. (This will still, however, probably have us being faster paced than any other game on the boards, honestly.)
I'm also going to ease into it a little, and I might not update every single flextime scene every single day, especially at first. If I haven't gotten to all your flextime scenes in a few days, however, remind me of them, as there is the possibility that I actually forgot about some over the break.
All right. That being said ... game on!
