What Homebrew Do You Want?

Gamer Connection

I'm considering throwing out another Homebrew game for people to be a part of, and rather than dictate terms - I thought it would be interesting to throw things open to see what people would be after.

I am not interested in running an AP, so that is out. Similarly the game will need to be based within Golarion and predominately using standard Paizo issued rules.

So with that in mind, could you answer the following:
1) Preferred character generation guidelines?
2) Location within Golarion to be initially based?
3) Starting level?
4) Any other comments?

No guarantees I'll start another game, but should be an interesting exercise nonetheless.

I'm good with point buy, 20 points, perhaps even 25
How about Varisia?
2nd level is a good starting place i think, i could go for 3rd too.

Point buy, 20-25 points.
Uncertain exactly where, but I could go for an urban campaign after so much wilderness in my other games.
And anywhere in the first five levels is the most interesting place to start for me.

I'd be extremely interested in (and have considered running) a criminal underworld game. Sort of... Mafia/Thieves Guild/Gang kind of group. Just a thought.

I'd be all for an urban Mafia/Intrigue style game. I'd go with 20-25 point buy as well, and I'd suggest a decent middle level, so we can be sorta established, but not close to powerful(say 4-7).

Coupled with this, it would be really fun to allow us to eventually create some sort of guild/faction of our own.

I agree with the higher starting level sentiment. It gets so tiresome starting at 1 over and over.

a criminal/intrigue/urban game sounds cool

id rather see a 25-30 point buy

and starting level between 2-3. this allows a little more fleshing out of a charcter and youre actually able to give them some background with real experience in it.

I love the idea of a criminal underworld focused game.

20 or maybe even 25 point buy sounds cool, I also think starting around 5th level would be great, makes for a nice change from most pbp games.

As far as the starting region, Osirion would be interesting and there is already a decent amount of source material for Katapesh. Otherwise, Brevoy proper might be fun, Andoran/Taldor make solid choices, or even Cheliax might be fun if we wanted a slightly more righteous touch to our criminal activities?

Just throwing a few Golarionic areas / concepts to see if anyone likes any one in particular:

1) Alkenstar Gunworks in the Mana Wastes

2) Hermean Refugees from the Island

3) Molthune

4) Geb, as either living or dead

5) Numeria

If I do start up something I would prefer to stay away from the current hotspots (like Cheliax, Shackles, Osirion, etc).

Geb would be AWESOME, but I am not sure how to make us undead without being too powerful, though I suppose we could be alive to start with, and work towards becoming undead. Only problem with that is in the event the game dies out, we've lost out on some of the extra fun.

I think Geb is interesting, and I like the dynamic between Molthune and the neighboring Nirmanthas. But Numeria really catches my eye. Starfall might be a perfect city for an underworld campaign, if we can avoid the ire of the Black Sovereign(or work for him.)

1. Roll 4d6, drop lowest.
2. Osirion / Geb
3. 1-2
4. Hope everyone has fun when you get it off the ground!

Dark Archive

1. 2d6+6
2. Lastwall/Nex/Geb
3. 1st level
4. The Knights of Ozem stand as the heroes of heroes in Lastwall. For centuries, they have stood vigil over the prison of the Whispering Tyrant. They serve as Tar-Baphon jailors in return for his humiliation and killing of their patron, the demi-goddess and former herald of Aroden, Arazni.

Yet they do not see that imprisoned lich king as the ultimate evil. For there is another who committed a truly grave insult. He who tortured, killed and reanimated seven of the order's greatest heroes. The one who then sent those graveknights back to Lastwall to infiltrate their former home and companions to steal it's most precious relic. That evil figure who helped ensure their success in their unholy task and who took possession of the remains of Arazni. The archmage who reanimated her corpse as a debased lich to serve as his own consort. Their wrath takes the form of an all consuming hatred of Geb, ghostly necromancer king of the defiled country which bears his name.

For over 800 years, they have railed at the continued existence of their sacred patron. Several times they have sent the greatest heroes of that generation to storm the walls of Mechitar and give her the release of final death. The time has come again to raise the banners and send out the fist of justice to eradicate that unliving humiliation, so that the Order of Ozem may once and for all step out of the shadows of the past and into the light of a new day.

The party are newly minted defenders of Lastwall and have been assigned to a great undertaking of the Order of Ozem as they send a veritable army under the auspices of the order's greatest heroes since the fall of Aroden. From the gates of Vigil south through Avistan and over to Garund to Nex where the forces of good and justice rally to strike into the heart of Geb, literally as well as figuratively. They march into the lands of the dead whereupon they are beset by the undead legions and destroyed. The party wake to find themselves survivors and enslaved.

Will they survive the feeding pens to the work fields? Will they make an escape from the soulless lands of the living dead? Will they rise up and continue the holy mission their masters began to reclaim the honor of their order and the rescue of the spirit of their fallen lady patron?

That would be my suggestion for a campaign.

I've decided for some mid-high level Undead hi-jinks for my next PbP - here. But will be taking notes for when I feel up to starting up a new one.

Drayen - that is indeed an awesome idea for a campaign. I don't think I've got the storytelling panache to make it sing, but it would be epic done right.

Thank you! I actually read your other recruitment thread about Geb first and was inspired by it.
