So, I was thinking, since we are all from the same town, do we want to do something like telling the kind of things the others might know about their characters?
I'm assuming the town isn't so big that we wouldn't have at least heard of each other.
Or would you rather save that for the game, Talsar?

How familiar are you with Maptools?
I would be willing to set up the maps for you and make up some tokens for you
It will help run the game smoother for you as a GM - also
If this is your first crack at being a DM - It might help to do a Adventure path
(This is true - but I just really really want to play in the New one Carrion Crown - ooooh- love the mix of Horror and Fantasy

Well, like I siad. I'll be using "the crypt of the everflame" as an intro adventure. then putting hooks into that to tell my own story.
But as far as my familerality with maptools goes. I know how to make macros for dice rolling and what not. enough to get by. I know that it can do more. I do have some tokens set up for the PC's I have with thier basic stats and vision. but I don't know how to get them to interact with each other. so that the token takes damage And other stuff like that.

Hey Talsar: I see you are going to be running Crypt of the Everflames and are down 3 characters. I already have the whole thing done in MapTools with Lindsay's Framework and am running a tutorial Sunday Jun 26 at 3PM EST. If you would like, you can join the tutorial and I can send you the campaign file. Not wanting to join the game, as my wife aggro as already high enough as I play pretty much every day between my two campaigns, PFSOP and two friends campaigns. I just thought I would help out.

I am back online a and try to get the sheets on tonight
Sorry about saturday...
Ill be ready for next session.
I need to do back ground info on the character for me and evy needs her BG done.
Have you ever heard of Central Casting.
It is a really fun background generator
When you use it the GM has to weed out the "Bonus'" and such but it really helps flesh out the character -
If its ok I'd like to use it for my characters...
Ill provide a copy to the gm- it been out of Print since 1992

Hey - I am finalizing my character and it would make a lot of sense for me to take a level of fighter at first and then switch to cleric
Core concept of the character is that the god gorum is calling him rather than any real "training"... As he will be a battle cleric - I want to be able to take power attack and or weapon focus but you need a +1 BA bonus to take them-
So - do I have to spend all my feats when I get them or can I wait till 2nd level (this is if I play a cleric at first level)
Or
Should I take a level in fighter then switch to cleric ( his preferred class will still be cleric))
Or
Do you have any other thoughts on this ?
Character will be with you soon I know I am late -
O

Talsar |

The game will start at 5 PM EST on Saturday.
If you could try to get your sheets to me by the end of the day I would be most appreciative.
As for your question, if I am understanding you correctly, You what to save a feat and have it be used later. Then that would be no, you can't save feats to be used later when you level up.
So if your still sticking with a Dwarf. You will get your first level feat plus your bonus feat. So since the Fighter starts with a BAB of +1 you could take both at first.
I hope this helps. Any further questions let me know.

Actually, would you allow a psionic class from Psionics unleashed?
I was thinking, since the crotchety wizard is old, the perfect opposite would be a charisma-based young wilder (a psionic class based off the sorcerer).
It's generally been accepted that Psionics are well balanced, with the psion (the best psionic class) capping out at around the sorcerer's level of power.
---
And are we playing with hero points?

Talsar |

It's kind of late to be thinking about a character change now. And I don't have that book. So I don't know anything about psionics. If you want to make minor changes to your current character I will allow that. And if you want to make a new character for later to use after the first adventure that's fine.
If I find that book I'll let you know.

http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=10635999: Explanation on differences between spellcasting and Psionics
Heh, I've already built the character. I just learned about psionics this morning and they seem much more interesting than the typical Vancian caster. Basically the sorcerer that I've always wanted to play without being rather boring like the sorcerer.
So should I still play my old character or can I go ahead and start with this character? The book is right on the PFSRD, as Open Game Content. Only main difference between this character and the old one is that this one has more versatility in terms of melee potential and can tank, while having less versatility in "magic."

Sorry retech. but you will just have to play your wizard for the time being. At least till I can go over this more thoroughly. I just don't have the time to look at it right now. As I have to start getting ready for work in a couple of hours and I still need to fix some dinner for myself.
I copied your sheet and will save it for later.
and no hero points by the way. I know that it's an optional rule. but I've never used them in any game that I've ever played.

Hey Talsar: I see you are going to be running Crypt of the Everflames and are down 3 characters. Just saw this thread; I've been interested in getting into Maptools and live e-sessions, as I have a player who can't always make it, and I often need to run solo missions without boring the other players.
I don't think I have the timeslot free, to get into Talsar's game, but I'd love to see a tutorial on getting set up on Maptools and Skype, so I'm faving this.

My problems with Maptools continue. Now when I try to launch it I get a message that Java can't create the virtual machine. If I launch the program from the website it works fine... Tried reinstalling Java to no avail. Oh well, at least I can use the web launcher to get it to run. Just a bit annoying.

Ok, I've just realized something. Once I reach 8th level, if I'm ever reduced below 0 hp while raging I'm instantly dead. I would loose 16 hp from ending my rage due to unconsciousness. So, I think I need the Diehard feat so that I can maintain my rage long enough to get some help. But since I took Guarded Life rage power at 2nd level, that pretty much borks Diehard. It turns the lethal damage into non-lethal (which Diehard does nothing for) and leaves me unconscious, ending my rage and killing me.
So, can I be a complete pain in the ass and change the rage power I picked? For what it's worth, I never actually used it. And I promise I'll try my best not to ask this kind of thing again. First time playing a barb, so I'm just figuring things out.
If you'd rather I didn't, no biggy. I'll just have to be careful once we get to higher levels.
