About Talsar

I was born in a small back water village. To say that the people there were not that well educated would be an understatement. Oh, everyone knew their professions, and excelled at them. But when it came to knowledge of things beyond the boundaries village was near non-existent. It was a rare occurrence when a person would come through and speak of the events of the outside world. Of great heroes and evil tyrants, and powerful wizards. Which would often be dismissed by our elders as pure nonsense.
My own powers did not start to manifest themselves till I was around the age of 5 and my eyes started to turn copper and spontaneously cast minor spells. Needless to say, in a small back water village such as mine, that knew next to nothing about magic, word spread fast. It was not long before I was disowned by my family, demonized by the local religious leaders. And forced to live on the streets. I was beaten and tormented daily. Hunger and loneliness became my only friends. I practiced using my powers in secret, knowing that if I was caught, I would be beaten severely. Also knowing that it might be the only way I was going to get out of there. Then one day. He came.

Like I said, it was a rare deal when a visitor came to our village. I watched him from afar. As the others shoved me out of the way. Regardless, I was strangely compelled to get as close to this person as I could.
I inched my way forward. Carefully avoiding the attempts of the others around me. I bumped into one adult who was my biggest tormenter. He spun around and saw me and proceeded to beat me mercilessly. This caught the attention of everyone else around me and they joined in. kicking and punching me when they could. Shouting slurs and insults all the while. I thought for sure that I was going to die. Then, above the din, I heard a shout. And everyone stopped.
The strange man walked forward and said. “What has this child done that to earn such a viscus penalty?”
“He's a demon child me' lord! He has unholy powers! Stand back so he can not harm ye.” one of the villagers said.
“Is that so?” said the man. “He looks harmless to me. As a matter fact, look at him.” he said as he walked forward. I was laying on the ground. Brused, bloody and at deaths door.
“Stay back me' lord! He's dangerous!”
“I'll be the judge of that.” and he knelt down next to me and started inspecting my wounds. “this boy is half dead! If this is the way you treat your gifted, I'll take him with me!”
From the back of the crowd came a shout “If you be taking me son I be needing a payment!' a woman started walking forward.
“Are you this boys Mother?'
“Aye, I be his Mother.”
“And you, let this happen, to your son!?”
“He be tainted. I not be having him.”
“And now you want money!?”
“He be worth something now. You want him. You pay.”
“You dare treat your child this way. And then have the audacity yo ask for money!? You are not worthy to be called a Mother! You lost that right the moment you through him to these dogs!” the man shouted and picked me up off the ground. “Don't worry child. Your safe now.”
“He be me son and-!”
The man whipped around and thrust his hand out. Palm forward. There was a rush of air and all the towns people gathered there were thrown back and knocked down. “That is the only payment you will get out of my. And pray yo what ever Gods you believe in that is all I do!”

As the villagers still gaping in awe the man took me to his horse. “My name is Markus. I am can use magic, Just like you.”
I tried to speak but though the effort I past out.
“You can?” I said “ where are you going to take me?”
He smiles “To the Narcadian Order my boy. Where you can be trained.” he said. What's your name?”
“Ah, Talsar sir.” I answered.

The Narcadian Order. I was home. For the first time in years, I was home. The order was huge, never had I thought that such a place like it existed.
The other members of the order didn't quite know what to make of me. A small boy with copper eyes. Needless to say I looked a little strange. But it seemed Markus held a position of high status here. He sponsored and paid for my training. For the next years of my life I trained, and I trained hard.
