Ultimate Magic: Staff-Like Wand with UMD

Rules Questions

Let's say an arcane caster activates a wand by making a Use Magic Device (UMD) check. For sake of argument, let's say it's a wand of Cure Light Wounds.
The Arcane Discovery "Staff-Like Wand" says, in part, that "you can use your caster level when activating the power of a wand if it's higher than the caster level of the wand."
Question: Would this Arcane Discovery synergize with UMD such that a succesful wand activation would use the arcane caster's level for the Cure Light Wounds?
Thanks!

Good question. No idea, but I suspect yes...sort of. Umd gives you a caster level. Whatever you roll above 20. You roll 25 umd treat wand as 5 th level caster, etc. My 2c

Yes, and differing from Tiny Coffee Golem -- it wouldn't matter what you rolled since activating a wand is a base DC 20 with no effect beyond that. Since you activated the wand, and your class feature works based on wand activation you would use your better caster level instead of the wand's worse caster level.

You emulate a class feature, namely appropriate caster level. Your arcane caster level is whatever it is, but your emulated divine caster level is whatever you roll. Base 20 +1 caster level for anything above that.

Edit: just as a rogue using UMD with a staff uses whichever caster level is higher his roll or the staffs creator.

I generally don't argue with automatons however:

On the table:
"Use a wand DC 20"

From the text:

Quote:
Use a Wand, Staff, or Other Spell Trigger Item: Normally, to use a wand, you must have the wand's spell on your class spell list. This use of the skill allows you to use a wand as if you had a particular spell on your class spell list.

I only have to make a DC 20 and then I activate the wand as if it was a spell on my class spell list.

As such I am not using the "emulate a class feature" use of use magic device -- especially since there is a specfic use of the skill for wands already.

I concede the point. I was emulating the wrong class feature. Logic error corrected.

Much appreciated - thanks!
