My guy never said he liked controlling undead, he just made it clear he is not above it.

Wont see him in the middle of a battle field alone with dead bodies around going "Oh what to do, the enemy is almost here to kill me". Nope more like "Ok how about a little undead army for ya, a little plague zombies here, a little burning skeletons here, and a few wights for the hell of it. Bring it on!". XD

But really its just everyone feeling each other out. I dont think anyone is going to complain about how you save their bacon. At least my guy wont.

P.S. I am two for two on first post of a new page. \m/(^.^)\m/

Be glad its not FaWtLy here, or you'd have to naked post dance.

nothing like a little inner party conflict to stir the pot and make the DM want to kill me. I'm really good at that both in PbP's and in RL games...I had my dm throw a d20 at me this weekend.

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

Hey there is a reason why I play LN and not LG. LN are alot harder to pin down in what actions force their hand while LGs are just walking targets. >:D

I dont think we have hit conflict yet. But may not want to push people who are going to be covering your back to far.

So we're still making a better impression than the group that had someone get in a *duel with one of the hosts!*

Heh.

Nah, at this point its more of a character theological debate.

Dude, you should see some of the in-character arguments between my character and Neil Spicer's in therealthom's Council of Thieves game.

If we talked to each other that way OOC, we'd probably get flagged! :)

mathpro18/Tomnus, I was wondering if you had an email address I could reach you at?

DMPatcher, while gallivanting about, I found this site, which has some handouts that seem Kingmaker-relevant.

Interesting - though I'm not your DM for the Kingmaker games. Tomnus applied for my LoF game a couple of weeks ago. When one of my players vanished Tomnus was next in line for a replacement spot.

But I'll keep it in mind if I ever run Kingmaker myself.

(Yes, I'm DM Patcher :D)

Whoops, should have read DM Kalizar. I guess I just had seen DM Patcher a post up and my brain shut down...

Don't forget our writ, just a reminder.

Wonder when the topic of our adventuring group name will come up too ;)

I have the writ ready, just deciding on the name to put to it. Also, been trying to come up with a tactic to draw you guys into more role-play, developing more camaraderie than antagonism. Hopefully everyone will begin posting in a friendlier manner soon. If you have any personal interests I can use, or thoughts, or questions, email me at lordkalizar@aol.com.

Sent you an email.

Also I think we will have time to talk on our way to the trading post. Unless your planning an encounter right off the bat......why did I type that XP

Yes, chatting can occur on the journey. The roads between here and Oleg's are relatively calm. It is the tracks beyond that are subject to raids and plunder.

The switch up with the Surtova taking over the expedition assignments, and fairly blatantly putting the local leadership 'on notice' that they'd better not overstep their bounds and do anything King Whathisname doesn't like, is a pretty cool idea.

I like it a bit better than the official setup, which, as I understand it, has the PCs pretty much dicking over the Restovians who chartered them in the first place by setting up as an independent country, instead of becoming an expansion of south Brevoy.

Declaring independence from the Surtova's is much more palatable, I think, since they deserve to get dicked over. :)

Given the Surtova contempt for the Aldori and the Swordpact, Ozaziel, bearer of an Aldori blade, seems likely to be being 'set up.'

If this group fails, the Surtova's can continue with this 'flawed instrument' analogy mentioned in the speech, and suggest that it was because of the 'rustic' or 'naive' Aldori mindset, and use it to justify further stomping all over the local leadership, since they 'obviously can't get it done.'

If the group succeeds, which might not be the Regents first choice, since he seemed eager to put cronies and fifth cousins into the leadership roles of other groups, the Regent still approved it, and can seize credit, and even claim that it wouldn't have worked, if he hadn't taken the project in hand. (And appoint his yes-men to steward the land, after tossing us some coin and saying 'Thanks, don't let the door hit you on the way out.')

Weasel politics at its finest!

On the other hand, the Lord Mayor, etc. did pick three out of five non-native Restovians for the role of expanding Restovian interests. Perhaps the Team Law & Order 'retirement party' was always going to involve a boot to the backside (or a knife in the back)...

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

Well the only thing I am worried about is getting these guys into the field too early. I mean we already have to deal with the many powers of the stolen lands and the evil fey queen who is backing them. Getting mr uppity regent in our business may be too much, sense the whole point of having the swordlords was to be a buffer and then get drawn in later and "lose" track of us in the stolen lands. I mean the swordlords were supposed to lose from the start but not until the last parts of kingmaker, having them lose at the start of kingmaker kinda gives them free watch over us in the stolen lands.

So whats to stop the regent from butting in once we start moving out of the greenbelt later on or even when we start making our own kingdom. I mean really would he let us have only our people in leadership positions with none of his.

While I can understand the need to make things interesting, kinda puts us in a bad spot from the get go. If I am missing something that explains this not being us getting set up to get robbed of our hard earned kingdom before its raised let me know >.<

P.S. Arumil may just have that big mouth killed for that elf comment ;D

Well, you do play an uncooperative character and in-character you've only made demands and don't seem to want to follow Ozaziel's lead, so what did you expect?

The Issia vs Rostland conflict does not really port well into the Stolen Lands, so I would not worry much about either group having the fortitude and ability to take over your kingdom, at least not until they have dealt with their own internal struggles. By that time, you should stand fairly well on your own.

These issues, as Set points out, are politics and gamesmanship. Boots on the ground are always better for dealing with the real issues of the people, and you guys are the only boots on the ground that matter to your group.

I also wanted to illustrate that your neighbors are also victims of that Brevic rivalry, and the images witnessed will be telling as you interact with them down the road, not to give away anything spoilery.

Arumil Amaim wrote:

Actually, the elves only had minor outposts in these lands, and left due to the dark fey influences and the otherworldly foreboding that constantly settled over some of the more beautiful natural landmarks.

You will notice that their are a number of reasons for his actions. If you look at his background the main reason he left Kyonin is now staring him in the face. He does not do anything without reason, for the sake of the nobles who charged us with this duty. That is not a reason to him, he is going along for his own reasons. Not going to share it with someone he just met and said they would kill anyone who uses a necromatic spell regardless of reason as its "evil".

As for demands, all he has requested is a clear contract of what his job is and its payment. Is that really asking to much, more so when your risking your life.

I will withdraw from the campaign. My apologies. Good luck.

I have a feeling I missed something...but I'm not sure what. How do you guys want to proceed? Want to replace him or continue on with out him? Or do you want to give him a chance to join back up?

Team Law & Order seems to be a bit chaotic evil, at the moment, with the in-character death-threats from Ozaziel (and the OOC death-threat right back at him from Arumil).

This is supposed to be a cooperative game. None of us can 'win' unless we *all* work together and complete the objective.

Ideally, the characters submitted would have a built-in motivation to participate in the adventure, whether it be Tomnus' desire to get the hell away from the big city for a bit, until the 'heat dies down' from his pursuers (real or imagined), or Radu's desire to enrich himself on the trade routes to be opened up, or Thom's enthusiasm to serve his country. Ideally, each of them would also have a motivation to work with others to accomplish that goal (if, for no other reason, than that none of us are capable of solo-ing the Adventure Path).

Ideally, this wouldn't be unique to this situation, or Kingmaker, or PBP, but to any player submitting any character for any game, since we all want to play Kingmaker and not fail before even getting out of town, right?

Right now, in-character, Radu would be heading back to his apartment in the city and investing in turnip futures, rather than work under the lead of a man who has already threatened to kill him if he casts gentle repose, or, presumably, does anything else that offends him (and, since he doesn't have a list of what Ozaziel finds offensive, he's running the risk of being murdered at any time, for any reason...).

But, Radu is a character. I'm the player. And, because it's a cooperative game, I'm going to continue playing, and I, being in charge of Radu's decisions, will rationalize it as his desire to seize this opportunity overriding his normally lawful and sensible nature.

If others PVPs each other to death over who has the most underdeveloped social / teamwork skills, or plop down on the ground and refuse to budge like a fussy toddler in a supermarket, we'll end up with some new recruits / get folded into the other groups, or DM Kalizar will call it.

Until then, the game is this way. -> Ahma goin' this way.

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

Ok I dont remember threatening anyone for anything in character or OOC. I made a joking statement about Arumil wanting to kill the noble that made a comment about elves in his speech and thats it.

I don't see how anyone could have a problem at this point. Everyone thinking or feeling differently is expected. No one has refused to help in combat or held back aid so far, that would be something to fuss over.

Maybe I missed something too >.<

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

Came across a Kingmaker obituary thread and all I can say is Nethys help us all. >.<

Btw does anyone know what happened with Tomnus and Ozaziel as its been nearly a week.

Apologies all. I have gone through a situation, and now find myself unemployed. I will resume posting later today/tonight. Sorry for the delay.

Sorry to hear about your job and sorry I haven't been posting. Things have been hectic here as I lost power earlier in the week and then had to play catch up with my school work. I will be posting soonish once I finish my accounting homework for the week.

I have not seen Oz at all in a while. I know he was a light poster for a while but now its pretty much nothing. Anyone else seen him?

Does the group want to continue as is, should we recruit another player, or does anyone have another idea? I can always assign the group a couple of guards, to increase your numbers; npc's that will have no active votes or voices, but will ease some of the combat burden.

Recruiting someone to be a 'tank' would probably be for the best. We could also use another 'voice' in the party to balance things out.

Ideally, the recruit's character would have a vested interest in participating in the adventure, and not require bribery or force majeur to drag them kicking and screaming in the direction of the Kingmaker story path.

That, to me, is more important than what class they play. A character (and player) that *wants* to be part of the Kingmaker AP (even if their end-game agenda isn't 100% compatible with, say, Radu's) is gonna be ten times more fun to game with than someone who is fighting it at every turn.

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

I would rather have another PC, a tank would be ideal. Hopefully not a LG but I am not against it. ;)

Male Human Fighter(Tactition) 1

I agree that adding another PC would be a good idea.

My nephew would be interested in joining, if the group doesn't mind. He's a high school student, has played in a few local games over the past few years but dropped out of regular weekly play to pursue a girlfriend, etc. A fighter type is right up his alley. Let me know what you think and if approved, I'll make the offer, if not, I'll post seeking a replacement on the boards.

Fine with me.

Ah, the younger years. I remember when one of our guildies son's canceled his WoW account because he'd discovered the hypnotic allure of jumblies. :)

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

I am good with it.

Btw a real man gets himself a gamer girl so he can have it all. XD

Sovereign Court

We've got a few gamer girls here, but most are above or below my "age group".

Thanks for letting me join. Hazen Stark is in the bar, waiting on Tomnus.

Where are Radu and Arumil at, in game?

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

Arumil is headed out to make camp unless someone says otherwise.

M Human Cleric 1

A town guard suggested that it might be safer to set up camp outside the town walls, than to stay at the 'inn,' so Radu is outside the walls (on the side of town they plan on departing from), arguing with his valet about the most effective way to set up the tent.

For a city boy accustomed to a life of luxury, Radu seems to be taking to this 'roughing it' concept, for now...

So, to clarify, Radu and Arumil are outside of town, across the river, setting up camp officially outside of Brevoy. Tomnus is on his way to the inn/tavern, and Ozaziel disappeared after your group arrived. Okay dokey. Now to get things moving again, I hope.

Sorry I haven't been around guys. I'll get a post up ASAP.

So who's the new leader?

Male Elf Air Elementalist Spellbinder 3 (HP 14/ AC 13, T 12, FF 11/ F +1, R +3, W +3/ Init +2/ Perc +2)

It seems to be between Arumil and Radu. Personally I would think Radu is a better fit, he is more involved with Brevoy and Arumil really hates dealing with noble types. As long as his voice is heard and reason is considered he is fine with a leader. Something that Oz never did hence the lack of respect towards the pally and the butting of heads.

Any thoughts?

Dark Archive

Some dude

Radu is worried about being the fall-guy for when the Surtova lackeys decide to scuttle the operation, but he is probably the most appropriate choice.

Unless Tomnus has qualms with it, Radu will take the bullseye target of 'leader-in-name-only.' :)

Male Human Fighter(Tactition) 1

I'm fine with that
