The title says it all .. so other than us GMs.. who's coming to Origins. It's going to be pretty bleak if all we have to look at is ourselves ... ok granted I won't mind staring at Neil.. cause umm .. he's a canadian and all mysterious and all .. but those others I dunno about.

Because of the dates they run it, I most likely will never make it to Origins. :(

I might be there, funds permitting.

Likely won't be playing PFS though, I don't even have a character.

We'll have pregens available if you want to play and see what it's like, we should also have lots of people that can help you make up a character if you have a specific concept in mind.

Just because you don't have a character made doesn't mean you can't play :) We're friendly and we don't bite (cept for that Canadian but we keep him muzzled)

I heard that Magus/Gunslinger combos are the best!

Don't sneer, Kyle. A half-elf Magus / Gunslinger is a pretty effective character.

hrmm .. and I'm not planning on taking cookies next year .. this year I'm planning on cookies.

I shall be at Origins, will be my fourth year. Last year got in on City of Strangers Part 1, this year looking to play The Forgotten Furnace of Forgotten Kor with my fighter and my friends cleric, and potentially Midnight Mauler with my monk/inquisitor (if I can get one more xp, stupid uber monster in Cult of the Ebon Destroyers and triple criting) and her witch. We tend to try to get into all sorts of RPGs that neither of us get much chance to play, so PFS games we only look to do one or two sessions for the con. But I can say we had a good time with it last year, and look forward to another good time this year.

I shall be there again this year. Might even get to play a table or two. Looking forward to ruining the GM'ing of Thea & Neil. :-)

Ya know .. you keep whining about all these lists you don't make .. when in reality you're on the only list that matters -- the Bunny friend list... seriously!!!!

Think of it something like Groucho Marx..."I won't belong to any organization that will accept me as a member."

You are your own list. People who never make a list. Of course that may make you a moron...or is that oxymoron. huh, dunno

(still waiting to hear back from the Gathering people...)

There's always something with Origins registration. Not their system this year, but my friend gave me the wrong password for her account, so I couldn't put us down for the games we wanted at the same time. This caused us to miss out on four games in total, all full before 1pm this afternoon. Luckily, we did get both our PFS games that we wanted, Forbidden Furnace of Forgotten Kor and Dalsine Affair (as Midnight Mauler was full for Sunday morning). And with some finagling, managed 13 events in total for the 5 days.

So, everybody else get what they wanted?

Starslayer57 wrote:

Doubtful. Many of us are still awaiting confirmation of our GM schedule.

As such, we are not aware if we will even qualify for the GM rewards (free room & badge). To register for events you first need a badge. So I expect that the two slot I expect to be free to play (should my GM schedule be approved) will be booked by the time I know the answers to these questions.

I expect that there are a number of attendees in this same situation.

I was able to reg for the PFS games I wanted. So I will be there, looking forward to it!

Liberty's Edge

The wife and I each got two PFS games (they only ones we aimed for). I think mine are Thursday morning Mists and Friday morning Mangler. Hers are Thur Mists and Friday Godsmouth. These will be our first PFS games (though not PF). Looking forward to some fun.

(waves) Yep.

If James and the Gathering crew can find me eight slots to judge, I'm good. If they can't use me, then I've asked off work for a long vacation at home. If they assign me, say, three slots, then I'm in trouble.

I'm thinking about going to Origins, but I have the following questions.

1) Are there any player spots open for level 2 characters from Friday afternoon to Saturday night? Gencon is basically full except for high level play, is it the same?

2) How does the Origins dealer hall compare to Gencon? (In other words, should I bother reserving any time for it)?

3) What are the other things Origins does well?

4) Does anyone have a spot in their room I can buy? I'd consider getting a sleeping bag and sleeping on the floor, but it looks like rooms are really cheap there.

Thanks in advance. Even if I don't attend this year, I'm going to plan to attend next year.

Even if you can't get in with an actual ticket, Come with generics we can find you a seat

The dealer hall obviously isn't a huge as gencon's but it's still fairly decent and as a lot of stuffs

There are tons of side games going on; as well as demos in the game hall. Last hear there was a guy from D20Pro(??) who was running pfs games showing his computer system off.

Not sure on the hotel rooms.

Try to answer what I can

1) Not sure, would have to look at the event registration to check.

2) Never been to Gencon, but from what I've heard, the dealer hall at Origins isn't as large. Not to say it doesn't have its selection of stuff, but it might not have the breadth of items you're looking for. It always pays to at least take a walk-through of it, just to see if there isn't something there for you.

3) There are plenty of other things going on. You might want to head to the Origins website and download the master events list from the events tab on the left. I think there are over 4k events going on for the five days.

4) Not I, sorry.

Sovereign Court 5/5 RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32, 2010 Top 8

My 2 C-bills
1) unknown

2) Not as shiny, since everyone saves their big products for GenCon. Reaper's had a pretty heavy presense in the past, and there are lots of 'secondhand' dealers. Catalyst has a fairly large presence there (It helps their partner IWM is in Cincinnati) but their organization, frankly, sucks. (Let's run beginner tournaments w/o any beginner boxed sets to sell!)

3) Food court's nice, parking is pretty good (hotel parking is expensive, but the side lots aren't that bad. In the past they've been pretty good at being accomidating to conventioneers and 'gamer widows') I'm pretty sure there's Wi-fi you can piggy back on.

4) Sorry, the Hermitage is full up with strays.

Grand Lodge 3/5

Jason, as far as the dealer hall, be aware that a couple of the major players are missing - WOTC and Paizo. And last year I had a great deal of difficulty even finding Pathfinder stuff at the store booths.

That said, it's a good convention to play games at. Especially if you have a variety of interests: I have got into some fun board and minis games there.

Can't help with the hotel, but I may have carpool space :)

I leaning more toward going now, although I'll probably be staying off-site to save $$. I'm thinking I'll show up with a bunch of generic tokens and see how everything goes. That, or I'll sit down at Bob's Iron Medusa table and make him suffer through my oracle/ninja.

That sounds like an interesting combination lol

Alas, I wish I was going to Origins this year! Instead we have decided to journey far to the south to find adventure in the magical kingdom of Disney World. This adventure will be a great one but I promise I will miss you all. :)

From what I have heard and what others have said here generics can have good luck getting into PFS games.

The dealer hall can be fun and is decent sized, but not like the one at Gen Con. As others noted WotC does not attend anymore nor does Paizo ( :( ). There really wasn't a whole lot of Pathfinder material last year. Still a fun trip through though as I find it fun to "window" shop and see all the cool geek toys and games. So worth a trip through in my opinion.

Open gaming usually seems to be pretty successful at Origins. I think they have a beer haus again this year? Near Origins is North Market - great food and a very short walk from the con. And also Barley's is a great local brew pub to stop by, right across the street.

I always enjoy my time at Origins.

My son and I will be there. We played with Thea at BashCon in Toledo - Murder on the Throaty Mermaid - and had a blast. Hope to see you at Origins. You GMing?

Glad to hear you had a blast at Bashcon :)

Does Origins have a messageboard I can use to find a roommmate? I can't find one and their Facebook portal looks like my best bet.

The Exchange 5/5

Jason S wrote:

I looked at their website and I didn't see anything for a roommate list ... facebook might be the best option .. or try a thread here

Their Facebook page has had a couple of people looking to share a room.

2/5 *

Facebook isn't working out, I wish there was a better way. I'll try again tonight but it doesn't look promising.

So if anyone has a room (or even a floor to sleep on, I have a sleeping bag or sometimes the hotels have pull out cots) for Friday and Saturday night, let me know and I'll help with the room cost. I'll hardly be in the room at all (sleep only). If I can't get somewhere to stay, I can't go obviously, so help a (PFOS) brother out! :)
