New post is up!
Kaavel I promise you you'll be fighting dinosaurs at least once during this game!
Also I have been thinking about how to increase the response time between posts and I have come up with a few ideas.
First idea is to get a couple of Co-DMs, one for each game.
Second idea is to allow you the players to take more of a role in the narrative of the story, similar to freeform but with limitations in place. This would take some thought about how best to implement it though.
Third ideas is to have a member or members from another squad run the bad guys during combat, freeing me up to concentrate on the storyline and hopefully provide some memorable combat encounters!
Any thought or suggestions would be much appreciated.

New post is up, also Delgado has had to pull out due to over extending himself, which I can relate to!
I'd like to welcome Stiehl9 to the game and the squad. Just hit me up when your character sheet is ready.
Also any suggestions for what kind of animal is about to run through your camp?
LOL, you don't already know?? if not, ask the other two squads, little more fun and surprising that way

DM - Pentor |
I was just kidding about the elephants, although now you've got me intrigued Kaavel!;)
Also what defences have you guys got up around the camp? And who is on watch and where are they positioned? Describe to me how the camp is set out and where you've got the defences placed?
The porters and Vankerman deferred to your guys directions when it came to setting up the camp.

Kaavel |

We were still working on watch Cort took first watch though sitting in front of a tree. We made holes around camp I do not know if we filled them with spikes or not but I know we made spikes. We also made poles that we put around the camp that we lined with rope that we put bells on them. We also made latrines. That is all I really remember that is why I said snakes I figured was only thing short of a HUGE animal or a flying animal that could get past that A without being overly hurt or B us not noticing.

DM - Pentor |
Ok so there is a shallow trench around the outside of the camp, which doubles as the latrine according to Darkbiter, and it has sharpened stakes set into it? Outside of that is set up a rope which has bells on it, according to Kaavel, how high is the rope? There are also holes situated around the camp which are possibly to be used as mantraps lined with sharpened spikes?
If that is right let me know, if there are any other defences please post them here.
Also are the people taking watch moving around or stuck in one place?

Darkbiter |

As for the animals, the stock elephant has 11 HD, so unless they started out almost dead, even a single one would be a bit much, to say the least. Something more along the lines of what we could handle would be an injured rhinoceros (8 HD) being chased by an similarly injured tiger (6 HD), something that would also match the description thus far.

Darkbiter |

If we have multiple people on watch, which we could pull off, one could be on either side of the camp, with most of the tents, or at least all of the tents being used by our employers, near the middle inside another series of spiked holes/latrines, with the porters spread out near this inner ring, a big campfire in the middle of the camp, and 2 smaller campfires on either side. Our own gear and tents would be spread out between the porters and the outer defenses. Anybody object to this for a setup? It protects our employers a lot, and the porters a fair bit, and gives everyone a place to cook their meal without bumping heads, and a fair bit of light for those without darkvision or low light vision.

Darkbiter |

No idea how high the ropes are exactly but at least high enough to not touch the plants is what I am getting from the post about them setting it up. So it might be 2 or so feet off the ground most likely min of 2 max of 3.
I would guess about knee height for the average human to optimize tripping potential for bipeds and decapitation capability, or at least entangling capability, for 4 legged animals. So 2 to 3 feet sounds about right.

Darkbiter |

I would not put he latrines inside the camp at all. For health reason you understand and stuff I do not think it was done. Otherwise sounds good.
Actually it was. In the Civil War, at least, latrines were often dug right by the tents, thus causing disease and sickness to be a bigger killer than battle injuries.

Monkeygod |

Cort and I took first watch, you said it's third I think, and I believe the idea was to have our Half-Orc squadmates on watch during the darkest part of the night, to take advantage of their Darkvision.
As Blaze is a seasoned mercenary, he sleeps lightly. I figure as soon as the loud noises got decently close to the camp, he'd wake up.

Darkbiter |

Probably not outside the camp; the ditch would likely be protection and latrine at the same time. Best way to balance health hazard of the latrine and health hazard of going outside the camp defenses by oneself.
Darkbiter is also a light sleeper due to necessity, so the crashing noise would be enough to wake him up as well.

Mark Sweetman |

Evening Steel Wolves, this is Krathok from the Crimson Kings.
Pentor has asked if I would be interested in co-DMing, and I've given a provisional yes, as long as it works out. As I can't DM for the Kings, and Sargava is more appealing to me than Ustalav - I've indicated that I could help out DMing the Steel Wolves.
Putting this up to sound out if you guys would be interested in that possibility?
I'm fairly active during the working week, and since I'm at GMT+8 means that my prime posting time is directly opposite when Pentor seems to be able to get online.

DM - Pentor |
MUAHAHAHAHA!
Now that we've got that out of the way I'd like to thank Mark for agreeing to co-GM this game with me. I've found that he has a dark and twisted mind, and I like it!
Also new post is up. Ok we still haven't decided who is on Third Watch, can I get a definite answer? Mainly because you guys are about to be overrun by a wounded and frightened bison, just a small one mind.
Oh and there's a lion.
Stiehl9 your character Sentis Spinis is approved and you are welcome to start posting in game.
Actions everyone?

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

Squad 1 and 2 have both done this and I think we should as well:
1) Character built up in profile - Pentor has pretty much ok'ed PFS rules as a starter, though you should get DM fiat on any specifics.
2) Squad role
3) Are you a recent hire, or have you been in the squad a while
4) Put down some roleplay fluff that your squadmates will know about your character, so that we can act like a unit once we go operational
one and 2 should be pretty much done, but 3 and 4 would be nice to help out.
1) Blaze is definitely finished, though he lacks gear and a history. I am still working on the background, as I want to read the Qadira book
2) Quick-Strike fighter.
3) Been in the squad for awhile, if possible, over a year.
4) Blaze is a devout worshiper of Sarenrae and is still a kid at heart somewhat, since he didn't really have one growing up. Also, he can talk non-stop if he's really excited, which hasn't happened in game, yet.
