Allen Taliesin wrote:Woot! I am all set and scheduled. See the all of the other GMs there. What did you get scheduled to run?
This is my schedule.
Sat 9:00am - TGH
Sat 2:00pm - PFS2-20
Sat 7:00pm - PFS2-16
Sun 9:00am - PFS1-28
So I am going to be very familiar to people on Saturday. :)
I will still be around the con on Thursday and Friday if, for whatever reason, something needs to be filled at the last minute.

Unofficial numbers from Origins:
- 100 tables
- 6.2 players per table
- Zero PC kills by me
- 4 tables chanting Todd's name
- 3 tables of Dalsine affair that DIDN'T kill a PC
- $325 - Doug's bar tab on Saturday night
- 250 happy players
Impressive, Mortal.
Even a Todd listing. Doubly impressive.

Had a great time at Origins in the Pathfinder room! Had Wes for a GM on Thursday night, Chris Mortika for my Shades of Ice series on Friday and Kyle for Midnight Mauler on Sunday morning. All great GMs and a great time was had. Very fun con for me.
Thanks to all the GMs who put in all the work in the Pathfinder room to make it a great experience!

I too, would like to add my thanks to all the GM's this weekend. Wes had to put up with me through all three Shades of Ice and Kyle should have killed me on Sunday, but somehow he became nice (Don't worry Kyle, you're secret is safe with m.... ooops). Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to help promote the game and ensure that people had such a great weekend playing.

It was a lot of fun to see old friends, and make some new ones.
Thanks to the players who made all of my sessions so much fun.
Thanks to The Gathering for all of their assistance.
And respect to all the GMs who went above and beyond: Thea, Claudia, Amy, Bob, Michael, Chris, Derek, Doug, Wes, Art, and Allen.
If I left you off of the list, it's because of my advanced age.
Or because you are Todd.
Or Kyle.

Home and rested. Another great time had at Origins. There were a lot of players with generic tickets and (to my knowledge) all were seated.
There was a bit of chaos with the organizational logistics leading into the convention, but everything turned out fine, largely due to the efforts of the on-sight GM's.
Special thanks to Neal, Todd, Doug, and Wes, who took up the gauntlet of mustering at various times. I think nearly all players were satisfied with their table assignments
Also, kudos to Doug (does he really need more?) for running scenario/s completely from memory to allow generic ticket holders to get a table. That was impressive.
Finally, thanks to all the players who made being a GM an easy task. Met some new players, reconnected with some old ones.
My favorite part of the con was talking to some brand new players and seeing that spark in their eye as I described the aspects of the OP. Hooking up players with GM/organizers in their area was cool.
I am disappointed I was unable to destroy the "care baird" during my running of Iron Medusa. His cheese was just too powerful for me ;-)

It was fun in almost every aspect and challenging in others. I'm sad I won't make it next year (silly date change) but I'm sure as our learning curve grew this year next year will be 10 times better for all involved :)
Neil, Doug and Todd stepped up to handle the muster and got everyone sorted out as they were clamoring for table spots and games. Judges ran extra tables so that (as far as I know) we didn't have to turn anyone away. Cookies were passed around and eaten -- wish I would have gotten a pic of Derek shoving a stack of 5 cookies in his mouth and the resulting mass of crumbs that landed on his character sheet
Now, I'm going to go back to playing with me dice mmmmmmm new dice

Kyle Baird wrote:Reread that. I said there were only three (estimated) tables where a PC didn't die during the Dalsine Affair. That's hilarious. The way I read it, there were 3 tables and all of them had no PC kills. How many tables were there?
Dalsine should have a trophy room...
There are still a few sessions to get reported from Sunday, but I'm pretty sure we had 9 sessions of Dalsine.
Honestly, I don't see any reported character deaths on the other 8 runnings yet.

I had a fantastic time despite some occasional bouts of sheer exhaustion. I wish I would have had a chance to hang out with other GMs more, which was my same regret last year. My real world schedule kept intruding. Overall, it was great fun.
Make it a priority next year! I was able to hit the bar every night this year, and for me, those nights out were the best moments. A time for us GM's to sit back, have a drink, and talk about how horrible all our players were. ;-)
Seriously though, you should at least focus on coming out with us at least once next year!

I was in so much pain. I just couldn't stop laughing. I could barely breath and all you guys did was laugh at me (which kept me laughing). I hate you all! ;-)
@D-moon. Seriously, we're talking about doubling the number of tables offered to cover growth and have smaller tables. Know any good GM's?

I missed the pile driving by Kyle. Well, crap.

I definitely will. Especially if there is more pile driving.
In all seriousness, I will make it a priority. I have not had a chance to enjoy all the extra stuff that comes with a con in a number of years.

hehe got him back ... pounced his air mattress in the morning... and channeled my baby cat .. no one can withstand the meowing, face-pawing/patting and bouncing on the bed for long ;)

I was turned away three slots with no Pathfinder Society to play. In fairness, I then had a chance to look for other events in a convention with many options. More importantly, I was seated for 7 slots of Pathfinder Society!
I think this was amazing considerng:
All the ticketed seats were sold out before I knew I was attending
I already played some of the mods(no interest in replay)
I did not have a level7 pc for minimum lv7 mods(no pregen interest)
I found they did an excellent job mustering all the people with generic tokens like myself. Such a good job that even though I offered to GM several times myself, they seemed to fit _almost_ everyone. Without needng to ask me to gm.
I hope this much demand/overflow earns Pathfinder more resources devoted to it in future conventions.

I'm glad you were able to find other things to do

Neil, Doug and Todd did an excellent job with all the people that kep coming in the door and being willing to step up and GM is an awesome thing for a coordinator/musterer to hear I'm sure.

I'm sure it will be busier next year -- and I'm sure the ones that will be able to make it would love to have another full-time GM :D

I played this one on Sunday morning. The pregen L1 wizard got taken out in the first round of the final combat. It was the player's first exposure to PFS. Given his rant about the overkill, it will be his last. And as a long time LG player, he'll probably tell his gaming buds that PFS sucks. If the writer/editor wanted to show how awesome that class is, they did a great job. If the intent is to get new blood into the campaign, it was a dismal failure. But I guess that discussion has already been had
I got to run 8 tables, and this year it was the games I had signed up to run. Nothing cold for once. And by Friday night I finally worked out how to pronounce Grolick :-)
Hope to make it again next year.

I also want to say thanks to all my players, to all the GMs who stepped up, and just to everyone for a damn fine four days.
And condolences to Bob for not being able to destroy the care baird. You'll get him next time, Jonquet :-)

It's not THAT hard! :) But he IS a half Orc, so what do you expect?
If I'm able to go next year, I'll probably throw my hat in for helping with the GMing. It will all depend on what my job is by then.

I had a blast in the two PFS games I played in. Mists of Mwangi on Thursday morning with Cactus-Jack DMing. It was the table of ice cold dice. You know it's a bad dice rolling day when the cursed wizard (who couldn't cast) was our best hand to hand fighter. Then I played in Friday mornings Midnight Mangler with Scribbling Rambler (aka K. Neil Shackleton) GMing. This was first time doing any PFS stuff and Mazar is now two thirds of the way to being a second level oracle. :)

I would like to thank all the GM'ds for my Pathfinder experience. Me my handpainted miniatures & my Monk's awful die rolls made it through 6 games. Special shout out to Wes who makes sure that fun is the driving force of the game. After my 3 back to back sessions on Saturday I did not think I was going to make it Sunday. But Synday was worth more than worth it when 3 people came & grabbed me out of the generics line to play at thier table. You guys were great. Hope to see you all in my town next year. Allen (Chun La) Blount.

I'm bummed I missed Origins.
I did hear from several of the guys that run The Gathering and some of the issues they had (Their main organizer was out for surgery). I can tell you that they did enjoy the PFS addition. Together, you all give each OP campaign in The Gathering a bigger voice in the con. This means better responses from GAMA for all.
I plan on making it next year. Origins tends to be my 'play' con as well as a chance to rub noses with some of the smaller game companies. But PFS was a huge highlight for me last year and if help is needed, I should be available. :)

So this post is overdue…
I can’t take much credit for Origins this year. I sure wish I could since the growth since last year has been impressive. However, my thank-yous need to start at the top of the list with James Zwiers of PCI/The Gathering. This year PFS events were under the management of The Gathering. Due to a miscommunication the PFS events were submitted late and James went out of his way to work us into the convention schedule. James shouldered the burden without complaint and much of the front-end work was his effort. Sadly he was not there to see how everything turned out. Venture-Captain Art Lobdell was there to take the baton and get us to the Origins finish line. Although there was some anxiety, everyone got their hotel accommodations and badges. Just in time to be hammered by more demand for PFS than I had imagined possible.
Last year we reported 67 events from Origins. This year we hit 94 events (100 slots of events with the multi-round modules included). That’s 94 tables, often with 7 players and turning away other players with generics. I say that we didn’t turn many away, but I also don’t know how many potential players showed up with generic tickets only to turn around and leave on their own after seeing how packed the room was. All I can say is that the goal next year will be to plan enough events that the only players who leave will be due to tables not filling up.
I would like to thank The Gathering staff for their assistance and long-suffering can-do attitude.
Thanks to the GMs who stepped up to marshal the players to their tables (Neil Shackleton, Bob Jonquet & Todd Morgan). I especially enjoyed Todd thanking me for letting him marshal.
Thanks to the GMs who volunteered their skills to make the convention memorable for so many players. Some of these folks spent their entire convention manacled to a table, sustaining themselves on scraps of food and only rewarded with alcohol (which, like a bending robot, is effectively scraps of food).
In no particular order of appearance, our stalwart Origins volunteers:
Wes Nicholson* (Ezekiel 25:17)
Amy Nicholson* (not rewarded with alcohol)
Thea Peters*
Bob Jonquet*
Derek Boobyer*
Kyle Baird*
Michael Costello (Cactus Jack)
Chris Mortika
Nik Powers
Todd Morgan
Neil Shackleton*
Allen Taliesen*
*Origins 2010 volunteer
I sure hope I didn't forget anyone!
If you didn't make it this year, please think about coming out and volunteering next year. At this rate we'll need a lot more of you guys to cover the spread at Origins 2012!
Thanks to all the people who came to Origins to play and ended up GMing a table (or three) to help with the crush. I never had the time to properly thank you all. I’d name names, but for fear of missing someone I’ll just leave it at a heartfelt “thank you!”.
Finally thanks to all the players who came out and made it a crushing success. I daresay outside of GenCon there haven’t been this many PFS tables run for a single convention. Without the players we wouldn’t have a reason to be there. Make no mistake, you guys made an impression.
