By now, Molasbar's motiviations and priorities should be clear to all. :)

'Love' turns to the tall wizard. "Sounds good to me 'Brownie'. Just want to caution us all," looking at Molasdar as he says this "that greed has killed more folks than sword and spell combined."

"By all means take the goodies, that's why were here after all, but we will only do it when it's safe." Remember, greed kills, and this is a dwarf telling you this."

Now that the gang's all here. Move out down the path watching for worked stone, branching paths, etc.

DM Just a note. Trap spotter and Stone cunning give me automatic perception checks for things. Do you need info from me on this? Perception score is prefigured unter the Combat stats tab in my profile.

Unable to help but grin a bit, Faran tilts his head at Love's comment of him "Ah, but I am most happy when I am not bored. I am at my most focused when my blade sings and that thrill of battle is upon us. If the two must be chosen between, however, I suppose that boredom would be preferable to happiness while we are here."

Listening to Molasbar's discussion of the loot, he gives a small nod of his head. "We have no real loyalty to each other beyond the task at hand, so I suppose a more mercenary approach is called for. I admit that I seek renown even more than coin in this place, but I am aware that both go together. Your proposal seems fair, allowing those who may not make it to have their share will, with hope, allow them a second chance at life even if this is not what they were meant for. I do strongly emphasize that while we are within, treasure should be given to those who will benefit most from it as it will aid the entirety of the team that way, but this can be better disputed when we are out safely again. Greed, while inside, is much more likely to put our guard down and we have to be able to trust one another."

"Hey smaller one, the names Keggan Brewhammer the master brewer!" he offers a drink from his wineskin wondering if he will be the first to sample one of his brews. "Sounds like good terms to me, I'm ready to go when you all are."

DM Oh, would a perception check be useful? I tend not to roll if i'm not asked. Would any other skills be usefull KN:Engineering or suchlike?

Arnie looks at Faran and Love and chuckles as he gestures at his leg.

"This ol' thing? The gods' idea of a joke, you might say. I should be fine as long as y'all weren't planning on charging in headlong, and as long as my trusty boots hold up. I may not be as fast as some here, but I don't think I'll be last if we have to run." This last said with a direct stare at Love.

He then nods at everyone else in a friendly manner before turning a more serious look on Molasbar.

"Well, m'boy, I am no barrister, but you have a bit o' the sound of one. So I'm going to need you to define exactly what you mean by 'present when recovered.' Additionally, since none of us know each other, and I think it's going to be in our interests to work as a team, if possession of an item is contested, I say it should come down to a vote of the people that aren't interested in having it."

He then turns to Keggan, smile coming back. "Wouldn't mind a nip about now, I must say." He then takes a big swig of the proffered wineskin and nods his head willingly towards the path.

Since it looks like we are getting underway, I'm just going to point out that I'll stay right up front just behind our trapfinders. When possible I'll let them get a view to make sure the path is clear and then will take point so I can be ready to intercept any enemies.

Sound good to me, but be careful about getting more that 10'ahead of me unless you are sure the ground is good.

You don't know how happy I am that there is another drinker, the rest of them are acting like school marms HAHA!"
He will pat Arnie on the back as he is laughing and then will cut to a serious stance.
"How did you like the drink, my wine tends to have a earthy undertone to it with a not so suttle kick. If ye ever need a drink I'm well stocked hehe"
he pats his bag.
"Well lads lets have an adventure, and remember don't drink anything unknown to you unless yer Uncle Bottle here says its okay"

Just informing you all that Keggan can identify potions, elixirs, and such by holding them and using craft:alchemy skill, for those that don't know the class that well

I merely meant that if one of us died in recovering some objects of value (say they fell fighting a dragon which we end up defeating and recovering its hoard), they would still get a cut of that should they be raised, or their cut go back to their family on a griffon. But if we come out to rest, anyone waiting for us wouldn't be cut in on that share. And I would be fine on a vote of the disinterested parties, a jury if you would. However, if it is something everyone is interested in, then we could resort to drawing straws if we cannot agree on how it would best advance the overall operation.

I just said it the way I did because I didn't want any late comers to profit from our blood and sweat, though I imagine by the end of this there will certainly be enough to please all.

"Gentlemen, behind me please."

"We have a sixty foot corridor apparently made of unevenly shaped dark brick. The back wall is brick and mortar in a traditional pattern. There are two decorated doors on the back wall facing us, one opens towards us and one away judging from the hinge placement. The decorations vary between the doors and there is a decorated column between them."

"Choice to make. Examine this entrance or look for another? 'Happy' was right and there is usually more than one way in."

"I vote we keep looking."

Love reaches into his small pack and draws out an eight foot long pole.

While the decision is being made being to search for traps in the corridor. Checking for wear patterns on the floor, walls, or ceiling. Clean or dirty spots, raised, sunken,o out of place tiles on the floor, walls, or ceiling. Check a 10'wide path along the wall closest to the door with visible hinges. Please tell me if you want rolls.

When the elemental clears away the entrance, Faran gives a nod of approval towards the wizard before squinting into the darkness. He draws an everburning torch from his pack and brings it to light. He tucks it into his belt then to shed light around him.

Nodding agreement to Rygal he looks to Love "You are our eyes for traps, friend. I'll be by your side."

Faran pauses as he apparently receives a new nickname. He pauses long enough to stroke his mustache smooth, considering it. "Happy?" He then shrugs his shoulders a bit, accepting it before nodding. "We can continue to look. It would be good to get in, but I don't think we are on any special timeframe. The more information the better."

Keggan looks through the tunnel able to see the doors with his darkvision and glances at the runes along the doors.
"You think one of ya detectors of magic see if anything glows in the tunnel?"
Keggan says while looking at the Rygal and Molasbar. Keggan will also put away his wineskin and rest his had on his belt near his bomb catlyst.
But it couldn't hurt to look for any other entrances while the suns up for those without built in mining goggles hehe"
Keggan points to his eyes with a smirk.

Arnie grins at Keggan. "M'boy, I am a gnome. Earthy is good."

He takes another swig and looks at Molasbar. "Well that certainly sounds reasonable and I guess we're all on board."

He then bends down and picks a stone up off the ground, casting light on it.

"Anyone object if I toss this down the tunnel?"

"Yes."

"Many traps can be set off by small objects or magic or seemingly trivial things."

"Actually, this may be a good idea. Is there a way we could get something heavier down there safely?"

"Let me get clear of the opening in case something explodes."

Move away from opening. On the map I will be at least 10' to the side of the pasasage. The first square against the hill the is clear of the red marks. I will make sure everyone else is in at least as secure position as I am.

Once in position. "Go for it Arnie, aim for the right hand door if you can."

How much of the path described above did I check before the the gnome had his idea?

Keggan Beams "I'm glad you enjoyed, whenever I usually describe my wine they just can't believe a dwarf would make but to my family ALCOHOL IS ALCHOL no matter the still it comes from hehe"
At the mention of explosion Keggan is not alarmed its been a long day since that accident will the stillsand he moves back a safe enough distance.
"Let me know if you need my assistance or if you need another drink haha"

"Well, I can't actually see any doors down there, which is why I wanted some light shed. I'll just pitch a test stone as hard as I can and see what happens. We can always try again if nothing happens."

i'll wait til everyone clears the direct path and then pitch the stone. if nothing happens and I can see the doors, I'll cast light on a crossbow bolt and shoot it at the right hand door. attack roll to hit the door if necessary.1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Faran looks to the others as they discuss the possibility of traps and fall well clear of the entrance. He looks to Love since he seems to be the knowledgeable one in this regard. "You think its likely that a blast from a trap would go so far? I suppose its better safe than sorry in any way."

As he waits for the gnome's stone to probably do nothing, the loops his weapon cord around his wrist and ties it to the hilt of his sword to fully ready himself.

I will defer to our master trapper, of course. If some of my spells could help, I will offer them. But there are only so many creatures I can summon in a given day. I do have an Unseen Servant active now; that is a mystical force that will do minor tasks for me. If I can use it to aid you, let me know how.

Thank you, I think that servant will be very useful. Can you direct it to open the doors down there? From here where you will be clear of pits or falling walls, or will you need Arnie's light trick to work?

To Happy. "It's not the blast I'm worried about, Happy. This passage just looks too much like a throat for me to be comfortable. If I were designing this I would put the trigger at the door and the trap at the entrance." Love looks at the ceiling and walls of the passage his eyes going distant as he thinks. 'Yes, get them down by the door with a good lock to work on and a plate rigged to trip with two or three people on it then slide a wall or drop the ceiling. Trap then in there forever....yes"
Love shakes his head, "Well that's the sort of thing I'm worried about anyway."

"The doors stand around 60ft on the rim of our dwarven eyes. I'm sure you will see it once Arnie's bolt is fired"
Keggan looks at the cave mouth from his safe distance hehe.
"Hey Love why don't you at least check the first 10ft in of the cavern for traps so once Molasbar sees the doors he can actually use his invisible bar wench to open the door."

If Love looks for traps I will assist him with his perception check

On it. See post just after passage was discovered. I think we are a bit ahead of the DM at this point.

[ooc]Evil Ginger Near as I can tell I had at least a couple of rounds of trap-checking before Arnie sugested the light idea. Did I make any progress? If not then i will beginn again focusing on checking the passage from the entrance to 20' in. Starting on the side the door that we can see the hinges on and working a serbentine pattern. In to 20' over a bit out to entrance, over a bit, in to 20', repeat.

Bottle "Working on it. These things take time. Don't lose yer bottle."

Rygal, Mr. Brown, Happy "If you gentlemen could keep a weather eye open. Mr. Brown's friend may have alerted the locals."

Close listeners may note Love muttering to himself softly as he works.
"...bloody wildernes. Nothing but weather and things eating each other..."

As you Peer down the Hallway, you can detect no Visible traps

DM So this check was made from the entrance to the passage?

If so then we have hit dc 29 for the doors. Oh and i know it's kind of metagamey but thanks for revealing the roll and allowing aid other to work on perception. Many DM's don't.

Begin serpentine trap check pattern. Move 20' in following wall with the hinge-visible door. Checking every square, floor, walls, and ceiling. Listening carefully.

Once there move 10'away from the wall I was following. Checking every square, floor, walls, and ceiling. Listening carefully.

Once there, move 20' back to the entrance. Checking every square, floor, walls, and ceiling. Listening carefully.

Once there move 10feet further away from the origional wall. Checking every square, floor, walls, and ceiling. Listening carefully.

Repeat pattern as needed.

This pattern, along with trap-spotter and stonecunning should give me 4-5 chances to find any trap or moving/unusual stonework in the first 20' of passage.

It will also give me 3 chances to note traps, doors, or moving/odd stone on the walls between 20 and 25' in and 1 chance at 30 to 35'

Sorry for the long post but we want to survive this adventure and careful pays.

"Any place I've already been should be safe. Give me a shout if you want to try anything unusual."

Mr. Brown will stand at the entrance. He'll hand his everburing torch to his unseen servant and sent it ahead by 30' so it illuminates the corridor. He'll watch from the entrance as the dwarf makes his search pattern, pondering what spells or abilities he has that may contribute.

well the Open roll was to kinda Scare you, by realizing a 35 might not detect any traps :-p

As you start your pattern, and get 20 feet in, you notice a

Nice! Hence the overlapping search pattern.

"Found something!"

"Pressure plate about 10' in front of the doors. I'll get over to disable it in a bit."

"Bottle, don't do this but if I pointed it out could you hit that spot with a bomb?"

Continue pattern. If I finish with the first 20' repeat with the next 20'in, and so on.

Faran looks at the point in the passage where the plate was discovered, squinting to try and make out any difference between the ground there and the terrain around it before shaking his head a bit. "I'm glad we have your eyes, my friend. I certainly can't see the plate you speak of, but I suspect I am more than enough pressure for it."

I'm alright with my nickname, but I may have to develop a nickname of my own for you. Saying 'You have great eyes, love' is only going to lead to confusion.

Also, I was just about to be all boisterous and turn away Arnie's offer, but then I realized that is one tough little gnome.

Faran turns back to Arnoldo, tilting his head at the small crippled gnome as he speaks those words. "You have my loyalty. You don't need to share in my pain to have that. I will not betray a friend."

He pauses and considers, clearly ready to swear such an oath even without the offered effects behind it. He considers the offer however before reaching out to shake the gnome's hand. "Stay behind me, friend, if you can avoid taking any sort of wounds of your own then perhaps sharing the danger among us is for the best. I admit, taking such a deal is hard for me."

Mr. Brown raises an eyebrow. You do realize that you just spit in the hand you are offering out to us, correct?

Faran gives a slight smile towards Molasbar at his comment before glancing down at his own gauntleted hand. "I thought that he was trying to help polish my armor. Though I suspect you should be prepared for worse substances than a bit of saliva on you in the tomb. We could get you a pair of gloves."

Sorry, it worked fine, the Bolt is stuck in the door, you can see the end of the hallway, to see the maps, go back to the post and view the "with darkvision" spoiler. No traps go off due to the shooting of the Bolt. the only trap in the hallway is the Pressure plate. You can make an attempt to disarm it.

Arnie chuckles a bit as he looks down at his hand, and then cleans it off with some water.

"Old gnomish custom, though strictly speaking I suppose it's not necessary. The handshake, however, is quite necessary."

He then nods at Faran as he continues, "And don't worry my new friend, I'm not much of a fighter, so you'll have to fight for us both. No more than fair for me to share in the danger when I also reap the benefit. I'll do my best to keep you all alive and healthy, but I'm definitely more of a healer than a fighter."

With a grin, he sticks his hand back out and eyes the rest of the group.

Right then, time to do this. Am I correct in thinking that the plate covers the entire area in front of the doors. So 10'deep all the way across the passage?

Love squats comfortably on his haunches and staren down at the pressure plate. He pauses, sighs, takes a long look at the walls and ceiling. Stands takes a few steps towards the entrance. Pulls out a coin, flips it glittering into the air. He catches it easily and slaps it unseen on his fore arm. Looking under his hand hhe sighs again, pockets the coin and reaches for his tools.

Molasbar will hold off on having the unseen servant drag the 50 pound rock onto the pressure plate until after Love's made his best attempt to disarm it. Instead...

To Arnoldo I see. If you don't mind... Molasbar casts Presdigitation to cleanse Arnoldo's hand, then accepts it. To friendship, forged under exotic circumstances, and to loyalty to our common goals.

GM: Molasbar will step away from the entrance, ordering his unseen servant to set down the torch in the middle of the passage so it can follow him. He is looking for a patch of ground at least 100' from the hill where he can clear a circle of around 10' radius. He'll have the unseen servant help clear the patch to bare earth. He’ll pull out a piece of chalk and start to outline the circle with a double ring, one inside the other, around six inches apart. Then he will walk the circle, and then walk within the circle, carefully familiarizing himself with it. If no one calls him, he will leave it behind and join the others only once he is confident that he is quite familiar with it.
