Feat Question

Rules Questions

I am looking at the "Go unnoticed" feat in the Advanced PHB. It states in the first round of combat, that you are allowed to make a stealth check against flat footed foes to remain unnoticed that round. Does that mean I can act fully during my imitative and then make the stealth check to remain hidden?

Can someone please explain how this feat works?

Thank you

Jason

First of all now the book is called APG XD
Second here is the feat.
Now if i read it correctly, this feat, during the first round of cambat only, allows you to roll for stealth check under any circumstances against opponents that you have flat footed (usually this means "won initiative against").
Now to answer your specific question, as you know trying to hide isn't an action of itself but it's part of another action (usually a move), so yes if you somehow can attack the enemy and then move and try to hide then yes you can roll to hide.
The only part of your question that i don't understand is the "remain hidden", can you explain that?

I think this feat allows you to hide more easily at the beginning of combat, I do not think that you can make an attack and then use this feat to hide after the attack. It is more of both parties encounter each other and then you decide to make a 'go unnoticed' check and you use stealth check to stay hidden while the rest of the party is 'noticed'. thus you may be able to work your way into a sneak attack later during the encounter or you may try to withdraw without being seen.

I see it in the same light, it's more or less a "hide in plain sight" against flat footes opponents in the first round of combat. So primarily useful when combat starts and your character is NOT hidden.
Your question seems to aim at the possibility of e.g. a rogue being stealthed to start with, get off his sneak attack and "restealth" right away via this feat. The wording of the feat doesn't forbid a stealth check after an attack (even without concealment or the like), but I'm not sure that's the intended reading.

During the first round of combat, flat-footed
opponents are considered not to have noticed you yet for
the purposes of Stealth skill checks, allowing you to make
a Stealth check that round to hide from them.

Yeah, basically there are a couple important phrases. Opponents are considered not to have noticed you yet for the purposes of stealth skill checks.

The only thing it changes is whether the flat-footed opponents count as having seen you. It doesn't override the requirement for concealment of some kind, or any other requirement for stealth.

This.

Stealth

(Dex; Armor Check Penalty)
You are skilled at avoiding detection, allowing you to slip past foes or strike from an unseen position. This skill covers hiding and moving silently.

Check: Your Stealth check is opposed by the Perception check of anyone who might notice you. You can move up to half your normal speed and use Stealth at no penalty. When moving at a speed greater than half but less than your normal speed, you take a –5 penalty. It's impossible to use Stealth while attacking, running, or charging.

A creature larger or smaller than Medium takes a size bonus or penalty on Stealth checks depending on its size category: Fine +16, Diminutive +12, Tiny +8, Small +4, Large –4, Huge –8, Gargantuan –12, Colossal –16.

If people are observing you using any of their senses (but typically sight), you can't use Stealth. Against most creatures, finding cover or concealment allows you to use Stealth. If your observers are momentarily distracted (such as by a Bluff check), you can attempt to use Stealth. While the others turn their attention from you, you can attempt a Stealth check if you can get to an unobserved place of some kind. This check, however, is made at a –10 penalty because you have to move fast.

Sniping: If you've already successfully used Stealth at least 10 feet from your target, you can make one ranged attack and then immediately use Stealth again. You take a –20 penalty on your Stealth check to maintain your obscured location.

Creating a Diversion to Hide: You can use Bluff to allow you to use Stealth. A successful Bluff check can give you the momentary diversion you need to attempt a Stealth check while people are aware of you.

Action: Usually none. Normally, you make a Stealth check as part of movement, so it doesn't take a separate action. However, using Stealth immediately after a ranged attack (see Sniping, above) is a move action.

It doesn't give you more actions, or let you hide after attacking (since that requires a move action after a standard) - all it does affects is the paragraph I bolded. Since they haven't actually noticed you, you can use that paragraph even if they're otherwise staring right at you.
