Ninja Trick question

Ninja Discussion: Round 1

In the APG, there is the feat: Extra Rogue Talent. Since the Ninja is just an Alternate Class of the rogue, would the Extra Rogue Talent feat allow a ninja to pick up a new Ninja Trick?

No, ninja tricks are not rogue tricks. They pull from a similar but separate and different list. This may change but I do not see it working as it is.

Why not? Similar things exist for nearly all classes. Since its still playtest of course there is no Extra ninja trick feat out. Ask your DMif you can do it or not.

But the ninja can select a rogue talent in place of a ninja specific trick.....

As Metric said, tricks and talents are different things, so the feat would not help. However, it has been said by developers that there WILL be a separate feat that would allow ninjas extra tricks.

Once. Just once.

Technically, but only in name & ability list. The progression & purpose are the same(although Ninja's are a bit better by questionable design).

Is this a trick question?

Personally, I expect some general ruling about variant classes that say that Extra (any class feature) generally works for a modified class feature, but that you replace all mentions of the original class feature with that for extra class feature.

Either that or there will be variant feats.

Or they expect GMs to use their brains on this one. In case of PFS, I guess they'll add some rulings as appropriate (i.e. "Extra Rogue Talent can be used for ninja, but adds extra ninja talents instead").
