Hello all, ive read the threads on how useful an improved familiar can be, so ive decided that I want to create a familiar. Im now an 11th level wizard, CG alignment. I am choosing between an Imp or a Silvanshee. I would assume since Imps are Lawful Evil, that theres no way I can get an imp anyways. So it looks like its the Silvanshee for me.
However, do I get the exact same Silvanshee thats in the book, with just more HP, HD, and better saves, as well as the abilities on the ability table? Do I use the exact STR, DEX, CON, etc thats in the beastiary? How many lay on hands would I have at this level, and how powerful would it be?
The rules on this seem a little vague, however I may be just missing something.

Yep, you use the same stats as the one in the book (STR, DEX, everything), plus the adjustments from the familiar chart.
It's HD don't actually change, it just uses your HD whenever it's subject to an effect based on HD. So how it handles a spell like sleep is based off your HD. How many uses of lay on hands it has per day, and how powerful those are, is based on it's HD (2).
So it has lay on hands 1/day for 1d6, just like the one in the book.

Hit Dice: For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master's character level or the familiar's normal HD total, whichever is higher.
The lay on hands dice increase.
Sleep does not get better with HD since it is a spell.Benchak the Nightstalker Contributor, RPG Superstar 2010 Top 8 |

I didn't mean that sleep 'gets better'. I was using sleep as an example of an 'effect based on hit dice'. So you'd use the master's HD in place of the familiar's if the Silvanshee was ever targeted by sleep.
As for lay on hands, James Jacobs said over on the thread for asking him questions that it doesn't increase based on the master's HD.

Thanks for the correction. That is a badly written rule for the sake of clarity.
