Dementia Walker |
Background for Life, Death cleric:
His mother, having difficulties during her pregnancy, traveled with her husband to a group of healers known for their healing abilities through both herbs and magic. Regardless of their help the birthing process was extremely difficult and she ended up dying during the birthing process. His father, full of grief cursed at his newborn son blaming him for his wives death and left him with the healers.
As he grew he learned much from the healers, both the things that healed as well as the things that harmed to better understand why it was that the healing worked the way it did. The healers that were training him soon found that he had special abilities due to the amount of necrotic and healing energy that was around him during his birth from his mother dying and the healers attempting to prevent it. He seemed to be able to influence positive and negative energy around him so they passed his training on to the clerics even though he did not worship their god to better train his magic abilities.
Essentially he would still be a cleric (Chaotic Good or Neutral Good), just super focused on healing allies and using necrotic energy on enemies, as well as crafting helpful poultices and possibly poisons (non-leathal?) in his down time. Let me know if you think this idea will work better for your campaign. This, of course would change my feats, skills, traits, etc as well

I picked Torag as the deity that his parents worshiped, though he venerates Gozreh.
I'll put everything behind the proper quotes and give his daily ability a section when I wake up in the morning, since I'm still borrowing my friend's comp (send help, they won't let me leave! /joke).

I've posted my complete character as well as my history in my profile.
The DM suggested that I optimze my ability scores more. Honestly, I thought I had, but I'm open to feedback.
Since he's going to be out of pocket for awhile so I thougtht I would ask the group for feedback.
Take a look at my character and let me know what you think.
I plan to be a sneaky rogue and maybe eventually take a level or two of shadow dancer. Also I'm leaning toward a spring attack build.

here is my semi final draft pending your approval.
I wish for my character to make poisons, and so took Craft(Poison), that reduce strength or dexterity scores rather then poisons that deal outright damage. Pending your approval of course. I also took Craft (Alchemy)so that he could create antitoxin (for poisons) and poultices to give bonuses to heal checks and the like also pending your approval. let me know what you think. Any other input you have would be appreciated as well.
Hello all, I will be your cleric in this adventure, feel free to check out my character here and give me any input, looking forward to adventuring with all of you.

Hello folks I will be your resident acrobatic kung fu inspired martial artist!
You will all witness the fury of "Dragon Crashes the Gates!" and other such oddly named but totally effective attacks.

Sheet looks good to me. Actually reminded me about the favored class bonus. I choose skill since I'm a skill monkey anyway.

Do you get the "favored class bonus" even at first level? Cause I was not sure about that and have not included it on my monk or any character I have made thus far.

It's called something else, but the name escaped me at the moment.
Basically if you take levels in a favored class (based on race) you can choose +1 HP OR +1 skill point for every level you take in that class. The Advanced Players Guide has other options, but since you're new I'd recommend just picking one of the basics.
Arvind "The Hammer" Grunwald |
You have in your midst a half-orc, whose qualities seem blessed from the sun itself. His undershirt, has on it the symbol of Sarenrae. He himself is a strong man, a Paladin of Sarenrae, he calls himself a Warrior of the Holy Light. Feel free to take a look at him, a paladin without spells and tell me what you think.
Oh, sorry about the 'The Hammer' bit in the name, but I thought I'd reuse the name of a dwarven cleric of Torag I created once, that never got into a game....so 'The Hammer' doesn't really have any relevance to Arvind as he is now.

Apparently according to the PF Core Rulebook your Favored class is chosen at First Level (not based on race) and you gain either +1 HP or +1 Skill Point per level including first level when you take a level of that class. Also, PRC's are never considered Favored Classes.

You're correct. I was half thinking about 3.5.

No problem :)
I ended up going with +1 HP for myself. Seeing as how I am going to be up front beating people senseless and whatnot.

Im here, just waiting for sat. actually an 8 person party is not to big on the boards. A few people usually just disappear a couple weeks into the game. I have been in 3 PbP games and we are usually trying to recruit new players by 2 months or so because our starting party of 6 turned into 2.
I agree, I think our party is pretty good sized for a pbp game, considering how dropouts seem to happen. Even if everyone stays on, I have faith that the DM will be able to handle that number. The great thing about pbp is that you don't have to deal with keeping everyone on topic like you do for table top.

If I were you, I'd put a few more points into strength, if you're planning on backstabbing and going into melee, but then again I don't know much about rogue builds.

I keep forgetting to change my avatar for this thread. Sorry. I'll work on that.

Characters:
Arvind Grunwald: Half-Orc Paladin
Roger McCuen: Human Monk
Voem Cubskel: Human Fighter
Connor O’Hoolihan: Half-Elven Ranger
Dieter Stolzdorf: Human Bard
Kale Porter: Elemental Sorcerer- Water
Cousin Schmitty: Halfling Rogue
Daemon Sone-of-None: Human Cleric: Healing and Death domains
Divine Warrior (LG): From an early age, you were trained by a militaristic order of clerics. You are devoted both to the teachings of your goddess and to spreading those teachings by force. You gain a +1 trait bonus on melee weapon damage when you cast a divine spell that affect weapons.
Magic is Life (N): Your faith in magic allows you to reflexively use the energy of any spell effect on you to save you from death. As long as you are under the effects of any spell, you gain a +2 trait bonus on saving throws against death effects. If you are reduced to negative hit points while you are under the effects of any spell, you automatically confirm stabilization checks to stop bleeding.
Sacred Conduit: Your birth was particularly painful and difficult for your mother, who needed potent divine magic to ensure that you survived (your mother may or may not have). In any event, that magic infused you from an early age, and you now channel divine energy with greater ease than most. Whenever you channel energy, you gain a +1 trait bonus to the save DC of your channeled energy.
Suspicious: You discovered at an early age that someone you trusted, perhaps an older sibling or a parent, had lied to you, and lied often, about something you had taken for granted, leaving you quick to question the claims of others. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.
River Rat (marsh or river): You learned to swim right after you learned to walk. As a youth, a gang of river pirates put you to work swimming in nighttime rivers and canals with a dagger in your teeth so you could sever the anchor ropes of merchant vessels. You gain a +1 trait bonus on damage dealt with a dagger and a +1 trait bonus on Swim checks. Swim is always a class skill for you.
Canter: You grew up among thieves and scoundrels, and their unusual speech patterns and turns of phrase don't faze you in the slightest today as a result. Anyone who attempts to use Bluff to deliver a secret message to you gains a +5 bonus on his Bluff check. When you attempt to intercept a secret message using Sense Motive, you gain a +5 trait bonus on the attempt.
For your backgrounds, please end with some activity that leads you to landrinor. Do not include how you became unconscious or anything like that, simply what you were doing last.
I will keep track of player XP and I will keep a journal of what happens over the course of the adventure. These, as well as the links to the campaign and OOC threads, along with any pertinent information, can be found on my user profile. DM Darkthorne

Hello. Just finally found this thread. I'm dotting it to keep track - if you should need another player sometime, I'm probably as sometime as they come. This wizard is reasonably ready to play; if picked, I'll have to rebuild his stats on a 25-point buy, but that shouldn't take too long.
Umm.. how do you dot a thread?

By replying to the thread, you have dotted it :)

If you click the word FOCUS on the main page of a subforum (where you can see the threads) then only those thread who have new replies OR have been "dotted" (ie you replyed to them) will appear.
