I just saw Salvatore at connecticon. He was doing autographs. I have a long history of hate for the man and am proud that I didn't say anything stupid, as his booth was diagonally across from mine and I had to stare at him all weekend.
{somewhere, somewhen, Salvatore tosses in a restless sleep, haunted by a vision of the unnamed Avatar of Ultimate Blackmanliness who stared silently at him throughout the Con. His unconscious self feels deep shame under the Avatar's stern and disappointed gaze. He awakens suddenly, not quite free of his fever dream, and begins writing his final Drizzizzizzzizz't book, "The Final Problem", with a strong focus on this mysterious, hauntingly handsome, new muse.
Chapter One begins, Salvatore discovers surprisingly, with expys of Alton Brown and Joss Whedon all "Rosencrantz-&-Guildenstern-ing it up", unaware they are both on a lethal date with a massive avalanche...}

At any rate, I've busted my ass the last two days for everyone else, without any tangible results, besides "Is that all"
At least my birthday is a little over two weeks away. It's always nice to know you haven't reached the bottom.
Yet.
We'll sort you out with some pan pipes, a couple of skins of Retsina and a few nymphs (making sure the General doesn't find out about that bit). That ought to do the trick ;-)

All kinds of interesting stuff I shouldn't be posting on FaWtL...
Angry much? Yep. But not a FaWtL topic, so I'll shut up on it.
I suspect there will be tears on the trip, but it'll be good.

Tiny T-Rex hates Build-a-Bear with a passion.
Evidently, stuffing your own animal robs it of the necessary magic.
He refuses to even set foot in the place.
I can't say I mind. :-)
My kids loved tormenting the mutilated, disemboweled bears, listening to their screams (sound devices) as they were impaled on spikes and filled with reanimating fluid.
Or is that not how they were supposed to interpret the place?

Is TL OK? He posted that he had a headache yesterday, and now he hasn't favorited anything in almost 24 hours!
I am deeply concerned...
Hah! Thanks for checking up on me!
In truth, Windows 10 has forced its way onto my computer, and I've spent days shutting off all the spyware helpful features and am still quite paranoid that it's collecting PID and passwords and stuff...
As a result, I'm relegated to my phone only, at present.
Also, Windows 10 is both advertising at me (in the Start menu, no less - not to mention the irritating ads in the new Word) and seems quite slow. Also they named their Siri-alike after a homicidal AI from Halo.

By the way, this isn't exaggeration, nor is it hyperbole. It's also not a coincidence or accident of nomenclature.
Microsoft makes Halo. In one game, there is an AI. They are a villain and kill people - main antagonist. They named their AI helper thing after this AI.
o.o
Oh! I kind of know Halo!
Captain Yesterday fun fact: Halo 3 is one of the few games I've completed. :-)
I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but, uh..: just don't get Win10, and/or ignore what I've said.

There is a download out on the web that turns the Win 10 start bar into a Win 7 one. I found it very helpful to remove that annoying one and get the old one I liked back.

Start 10 vs. Classic Shell review. Start 10 is $5 after 30 days, Classic Shell is freeware (but you can donate to them.)
I adjusted pretty quick to the Win10 start menu, but under Win8/Win8.1 I used StartIsBack ($2.99 after 30 days). I liked it a lot and it was cheap, so I later bought it for my sister's desktop and sister-in-law's notebook.

Conversation with the kidlet tonight:
Kidlet: I really like this [sleeping dragon] painting on your door. Why is the background brown?
Me (half paying attention while playing a game on my phone) Because it's in a cave.
Kidlet: But wouldn't that be grey?
Me: Not all stone is grey. Some stone is brown.
Kidlet: What if it were brick?
Me: Then the dragon would be sleeping in an abandoned subway station.
Kidlet: That's a big pile of treasure it's sleeping on. Is it very valuable? Are there any magic items?
Me: No, not really. The dragon just really likes shiny things. It's not very good at assessing value. Most of that pile is just shiny junk. It's like a great big magpie.
Kidlet: Does it sleep on metal for temperature regulation?
Me: .... One, that's very good and exactly right. Two, good job knowing that I wouldn't paint a picture that didn't have a story behind it. You know me well.
So, if nothing else I've taught the kid that there are no such things as random doodles. :P

I especially like the three headed eldritch abomination. And the unicorn dragon. Most of those don't actually look that hard to make. Just very time consuming since so much of it would have to be hand sewn.

I absolutely hate Win10. I ran the free "upgrade" for my office desktop at work and nothing operated properly afterward! Ran the system restore to go back to Win7, and I've been kill-boxing the Win10 ads ever since.
"Better." "Get it now!" "Improved."
Pfffft.
I think there's a universally pervasive cognitive dissonance between the marketers/advertisers and the programmers/engineers over there. Not just "not on the same page", but one bunch is mired in the US Tax Code and the other is still cheering the novelization of that movie y'all know I hate.

Well, I was having fun reading the "Election 2016" thread and learning all kinds of neat stuff, but it's finally snowballing into the train wreck we all knew it had to.
But it's surprising how much you can learn by lurking on those threads before they explode. I highly recommend it! (Depending on your tolerance level, of course.)
In other interesting tidbits, I find it fascinating that my "GM journals" (a very old Crimson Throne, then Rise of the Runelords, Wrath of the Righteous, and Serpent's Skull) are/were very popular (in the sense of lots of comments and favoriting), while the journals I write in the first person (Second Darkness, Mummy's Mask) are/were garnering no attention at all.
Makes me wonder whether it's writing style, the APs in question, the location, or what-have-you.
Interesting stuff all around!

Honestly, GM threads are always more interesting than player journals.
I'm not really sure if it's writing style so much as a complete perspective and for comparison. A GM can say what they tweaked or changed, it's not as easy gathering that from the player's view. Ideally, it would be like UsePlanB's threads and have both GM perspective, and (ideally all) the player's interpretation. But you know how nearly impossible that can be. :-)

easy fritzy. He's in the clear at the moment. Still, we thank you for your vigilance. Remember, only you can stop political fires.

You'd have had a lot more interaction in the MM thread, if I was on the computer-net instead of relegated to the phone-net. At least from me. :)
As it is, I rarely remember to check anything other than the AMA (James/Mark/Me), and FaWtL, at present. Of course, that Cohen be E size daggummit autocorrect, stop helping so aggressively could be because my eldest has a birthday tomorrow and celebration thereof on Sunday...

LOL. But I think CY has the right of it -- I like campaign journals a lot more when the GM is piping up, saying, "And this is the thing they did that I didn't expect them to do, and this is how I adjusted the encounter" and then you get to read it from the player's point of view.
I loved Useplanb's Rise of the Runelords for that -- all the different players posted, and Useplanb posted when he felt it needed clarification.
Getting my other players/GM to post on the threads I start where I'm a player is like herding ill-tempered cats with epilepsy and an irrational hatred of keyboards...
