This is probably super obvious to people already through with grad school, but discovering typos in the APA citation provided by the academic journal I'm using is upsetting me.

How do you misspell the author's name you're typing this two inches above his name this is a peer-reviewed journal

Agreed. That is unacceptable.

This would be a great opening sentence...

Perhaps this says something about the nature of the peers...

Well, it sure wasn't a literary journal. For one thing, they'd use MLA

"Two houses, both alike in dignity" does not establish the level of dignity they both claim. Though it is usually assumed to be high, it could in fact be extremely low. Thus, an adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" featuring the two houses as rival clown troupes would not be in opposition to the original text.

Or as the Hatfields and McCoys.

"Does The Count from Sesame Street count as a muppet?"

"I think he counts as his main character trait."

Dilemma: should I get Shadow Of The Erdtree (thanks to Humble Bundle discount of 11%, assuming that PayPal USD/EUR exchange rate doesn't screw me too much...), or should I get Atomic Heart while it is on sale?

Decisions, decisions...

I am slowly running out of fresh things to do on the second character, so the Shadow is tempting...

Yes. Yes, I did. And your point is? -.-

Got derailed for a full 5 minutes talking about modern adaptations of various Shakespeare plays. Kinda pleasantly surprised at how into it a couple of the kids seemed.

I actively refer to the Grangerford-Shepherdson feud in Huck Finn as "redneck Romeo and Juliet."

Erdtree it is...

I am still on the Elden Ring high, if I leave DLC for later, getting back to any level of basic competence will be a big pain...

Two and a half dollar left on PayPal, saving me from even looking at sales for the next month.

Obviously, I expect that The Shadow Of Erdtree will be on sale soon, once I got it.

It also means I am back to the mage, because on that character I have actually unlocked conditions for going into the Shadow, or at least I think so - both Mogh and Radhan are defeated. On the warrior I have yet to face Mogh...

Sooth, I warrant tis sad to tragedy
that Romero and Juliet doth lie
and languish in slow Development Hell
since the rights I unburdened myself of
in exchange for points gross (and never net).

Let's see how it goes...

That was hilarious...

The first dragon boss I met in the DLC...

Died on first fight (dragon, not me). Tiche still OP.

I got my first great katana.

My only complaint about that great katana is that I do not like the critical hit animation...

Everything else about it is... Well... Great.

Great katana = larger than usual, or just exceptionally good?

Bastard Katana is my new punk rock alter ego.

It goes, katana, great katana, and great, great katana. Which makes you Katana the Third. (Katana III.)

And Juliet has been killing it of late but that is Shakespeare adjacent, not an actual work.

Thought for the Day:

After spending 11 years self-employed, when prospective employers ask for a recent manager for a reference it's hard not to reply: "I'd love to, but my boss for the last 11 years is a real a~#%$#~ who has a hard time saying anything nice about me."

Whelp.

I have too many lovely-lovely swords and I don't know what to use!

A stylish regular katana that just dropped from Demi-human Queen? A pair of light greatswords that I (technically) gotten yesterday?!

That great katana I was running with since the initial incursion into The Shadow?

Just had someone call the hotel, but we weren't the one they wanted. Then they got mad at me because obviously it's my fault that they called a hotel 3 hours away from the one they wanted.

I went to the mall with my wife the other day, but soon lost her in the crowds. So I walked up to an absolutely stunning young lady, and said "Excuse me. I've lost track of my wife somewhere in here, do you mind if I talk to you for a bit?" She smiled and said "I don't mind at all, but shouldn't you be looking for your wife instead?" I said "No need. Every time I speak to a beautiful woman, she seems to teleport behind in an instant."

And that's when I heard that all-too-familiar angry throat clearing from just over my left shoulder...

A mummy's tomb was recently discovered near Cairo, Egypt. They opened it earlier today and found the tomb completely intact. Inside, they found the mummy, covered in chocolate and crushed hazelnuts, then wrapped in a gold foil. Authorities are saying that they believe it to be the mummy of Pharaoh Rocher.

The Shadow kno-o-ows!

(Seriously, they let you fight with a greatsword in each hand? I suppose that isn't any more improbable than most stuff that happens in The Merry Land Of Fantasy, but still...)

<video of a guy showcasing one of the possible builds centered on those swords, linked for the images> — they are classified as "light greatswords" though they are far from being big-big swords.

Of course, in this game you can dual wield colossal weapons larger than you, taken from the dead-cold hands of huge enemies like trolls...

Dammit. Father was supposed to get a bus to Poland evening yesterday or morning today, but mom called that the bus didn't show up messing up the whole schedule for his second visit (and my next week and a half) - they are supposed to take him on Tuesday, which causes a lot of various issues I won't discuss here (at least until all is solved...).
