Duh. It fled my mind. EDIT: I keep forgetting that one, because very similar Polish word "Duńczyk" [doonchik] means "Dane" (denizen of Denmark) and I always keep confusing those two.
A random fact. Polish official name for Netherlands is "Holandia", though in past it was also called Niderlandy (it is occasionally used, though never formally, and feels archaic when used). And the Dutch are called "Holendrzy" (singular "Holender", "Holenderka").
There is a famous scene in "Potop" (Deluge), a historical book taking place during Polish-Swedish war of 1655-60, where Swedish envoy tries to bribe Zamość castellan by offering him ownership of the lands he controlled at the moment. One of the main characters prods the castellan to counteroffer the Swedish king with the gift of "Niderlandy".
Well, we call you 'Polen', and a citizen a 'Pool'.
Pool is also short for either noord-pool or zuid-pool, which is the north and sount pole respectively.
The Central Pole, holding up the Great Tent of Europe.
EDIT: The Great Tent of Europe appears to have slipped off this central pole. I'm sorry.
EDIT II: NB: not a metaphor for Brexit.

Well, polandball is very popular here (as are the countryball jokes/comics in general). So you could say it all revolves around you ;)

Started with the old grenadier and ral partha lead minis, back when 25 mm was a real 25 mm. Moved to reaper when ral partha/IWM had issues. Took a while to get used to 28 mm, but am a bit tired of the size creep there. Even the supposed 28 mm figs are getting huge. Does not play well with my DF.
And my paint spree was triggered by a friend of a friend purging his collection and gifting me three tubs of minis. So my box of shame is now...large.
I have hesitantly restarted painting after a multi-year hiatus. I am not making much progress on my backlog, but when I do find an hour or two, I try to peck away.
I opted for a two tiered approach. The first minis that I was aiming to finish were animals and simple things that were just base coat, wash, dry brush...then details (claws, mouth, eyes) or the like. Concurrently I picked two humanoids that had gear and started them. While I am not proud of the animals- they are table top worthy. Still working on the first humanoid. I work feet up typically and am at breastplate/neck area. Will tackle arms and head next go through. Again, not my best work, but table top ok.

Last night's PF session was a pretty deadly one. Big fight with three worm things that sent you mad if you so much as looked at them, during which the mage and the oracle just sat there with their thumbs up their bums, watching.
Two of us went permanently insane - my character and the rogue, after which the rogue assassinated my character, leaving him on negative HP (but stable) on the ground, while Elfy McStabface ran around screaming about crawling horrors that Should Not Be. I get enough of that sort of danging friggery in Call of Cthulhu.
O well. At least this means I can introduce Roger the Wonder Orc into this campaign, which will probably really annoy the GM.

Nylarthotep |

After a certain point with deadly campaigns, we all vow that if we die our next character will be more obnoxious, wash rinse repeat. We have a few people that are amazing power gamer/rules lawyers that can make some really broken builds. They, by and large, refrain from doing so at the campaign start, but break out the tool chest after about the fourth or fifth death.
We all accept a few deaths as part of the vagaries of the dice, but if the DM or the module is just stupid deadly, we push back the way we can.

The sad thing is, I know which AP you're playing and where you are in that campaign... and I already knew I'd have to change that encounter to avoid having all of my players quit outright.
As I've said before, as a GM you're all-powerful. Want to challenge your players? Put in a CR+4 or CR+5 encounter. Don't put in, "Every single one of you has to make 3 saves a round or you don't get to act" monsters. That's just a **** move that nobody considers "fun".

It's going to be a LOOOONG day.
Yesterday on my evening walk with Impus Major I fell off the curb. I managed to roll out unharmed, but I managed to have my thumb out of position and sprained it.
So I can't use my mouse or type for more than a few seconds, so it's an entire day of moving about doing what I can left-handed.
I do not idle well. I don't watch TV, and it's very hard to read a book one-handed, so I think I'm in for a looooong day of boredom
*SIGH*

Just had my contract meeting with the Head of School.
In order to keep everyone on at current hours, even the old gals in the highest health risk category who will basically be furloughed with pay until the Covid situation is resolved, no one is getting a raise or an annual bonus this year, and everyone is being asked to do one extra thing to cover the gaps.
I'm being asked to start work in July instead of August, which means I won't have to teach online if and when we shut down for a second or third viral wave (which our county health department is expecting in Fall and early Spring); however, all the students who have parents who are doctors, nurses, or other essential workers are being placed in my classroom, which means I will likely be asked to keep working to provide childcare for them during shutdown.
Good thing I'm also on the new Safety Protocols Committee.
Just glad I still have a job.

I'm having to work from the office today, so the link is blocked for me.
someone did not get paid because they amended the form contract to include the pronoun "they" in addition to "he or she."
The paizo social media person has acknowledged it and sent it back to legal to see what happened.
Since it is being addressed, my speculations are largely irrelevant. They range from the purposefully malicious to legitimate legal need for precision to lazy lawyering.

Signs kinda point that way? Paizo (through the anonymous account) has responded that the person who handled that is no longer with the company, which I can confirm as my new freelance gig was handled by a new financial officer.
Its of course not in a vacuum. But even if natalie called them all doodoo heads, but still turned in their work, payment should be made.

Some random news that actually made me happy today:
I have a cousin (second-cousin, technically, but we've always been close) who has been in a common-law not-marriage for over thirty years. I first met his not-a-wife when I was thirteen. He just called me to tell me they are finally getting married next month. He is 73, she is 65, and when we spoke on the phone, he was actually giggling. I'm disappointed that I won't be able to celebrate with them in person, but that's just me being selfish again. The important thing is that they're happy.

Yeah, that all makes sense. Good on them for doing what they can to make it right.

So I'm trying to build this Oracle and have two feats to burn. I figured lacking better options - she has all the Revelations I want out of the Winter oracle list, so that option is used up - to just grab a couple of Spell Foci and call it done. The trick is which two to take.
Here's her current spell list and list of feats. (Mystery spells marked with *, and obviously the Cures are free.) Not all the spells are Paizo, some are 3pp, but you can find them all on d20PFSRD. Advice appreciated!
8th (6+?/day)--curse of night, doombringer’s wrath, edict, greater spellcrash, mass cure critical wounds, nine lives, polar ray*, sacramental seal
7th (6+1+?/day)--blasphemy, dictum, greater sensory deprivation, ice body*, mass cure serious wounds, portal, resurrection
6th (6+1+?/day)--cone of cold*, dimensional blade, elemental assessor, greater dispel magic, hellfire ray, heal, mass cure moderate wounds
5th (6+1+?/day)--boneshatter, demon flesh, fickle winds, greater forbid action, icy prison*, mass cure light wounds, opportunity, wall of stone
4th (6+1+?/day)--crusader’s blessing, cure critical wounds, death ward, divine power, greater magic weapon, ice storm*, red rain, saving grace
3rd (6+2+?/day)--armor of light, cure serious wounds, disarming storm, magic vestment, prayer, protection from energy, sleet storm*, weapons storm
2nd (6+2+?/day)--admonishing ray, apocalypse, arrow of law, cure moderate wounds, dread bolt, frost fall*, khazri, frigid slowness, retribution
1st (6+2+?/day)--astute fighting, barbed chains, cure light wounds, embrace destiny, endure elements*, hex of the bull’s eye, sacred watch, scourge, stone shield
Orisons--animate tools, ceremonial servant, create ice, create water, crystal symbol, detect magic, divine mark, enhanced diplomacy, read magic, shelve, sign of discovery, touch of torment
Feats Cold Celerity, Disruptive Spell-Like Ability (unholy blight), Divine Interference, Endurance, Extra Revelation (Blizzard, Snow Sight), Greater Spell Penetration, Practiced Ritualist, Spell Penetration (and two more)

We were finally able to start building on the project we're working on (we had a delay on materials for the transformer pergola) after three days of digging and bringing in more rock. We're doing a front landing and walkway to the road and then a paver parking spot (it's Shorewood Hills so parking that won't get you a ticket is at a premium).

NobodysHome |

So, I watched Angels of Death since it seemed like a finite-length (16-episode) anime series right up my alley, and, er, "Meh".
Starts off strong, gets boring by episode 6 or 7, and the ending is just a letdown. Not in an, "I can't believe you did that!" way, but in a, "I can't believe you didn't do anything with that setup!" way.
Very disappoint.

OK. Dying laughing. It's my 16-year anniversary at Global Megacorporation, and a PM said the thing about me that all my harshest critics and greatest proponents agree on:
I always appreciate your commitment to uncovering the real behavior rather than documenting what we think works.
For people who care about the customer, that's an asset. For people who care about the bottom line, it's a liability. I get both types.
