oooOOOoo dragon cake... if it was only chocolate.

Edit: Naked dragon cake all the better!

Done that before.

Baked a chocolate dragon cake while naked?

Hey, Jess. Welcome back. Last I saw you was in July on the Kitty thread. How've you been?

I am doing well. My cat is currently trying to cover her droppings by scratching the wall.

I don't know. Are you high enough level that I could be an ocelot familiar, rather than a housecat?

The cake came out of the pan cleanly, and looks really good. Just wish I hadn't eaten the strawberries yesterday. Or that I had bought some more when I was at the store this morning.

Pictures?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nope. No camera or site to host them.

That makes the dragon cake sad...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nah, it still looks protective of it's tiny cake eggs.

I guess I could use the webcam on my laptop, but I doubt it would be a very good quality photo, and I would still lack a place to host it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Besides, I'm about to start cutting into it, so it's not going to look as good soon.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

You better not start with the egg. You might make it angry.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Ohh, I'm starting with the largest of the three eggs. And it's delicious. I still wish I had some strawberries, but at least I've got whipped cream.

Yeah, I had to veto that one. But I liked it.

Maybe she hasn't learned her lesson because you vetoed it?

Nah, it's all the INT-based spells trying to shove themselves into your head. That's why CHA-based casting is better. Things just happen for you because you're that f+$@ing awesome.

wow is it to late to change my mind to sorcerer.

That's how I've always thought of the difference between INT and CHA arcane casters. INT casters study and learn how to manipulate the primal forces of the universe, while the CHA casters just think "It would be awesome if this happened" and the universe just bends over and takes it.

I am pretty sure that my Int is better than my Cha.

Archeologist is there mainly for some extra luck.

If you had a mammoth to ride you could just crush whatever caused the headache in the first place (or if it's inconclusive, pick something to crush for fun).

"Int-based Archaeologist" is why I went with Pathfinder Chronicler.

It's the closest thing I could find to Indiana Jones.

This weekend, Whingey Wizzard is hosting a huge seminar for the kaicho of his budo/jujutsu style. There are lots and lots of people in his dojo. And, because it makes the kaicho happy, tonight the top TWENTY of them are descending on our home and I've agreed to cook for all of them.
So I'm making two colossal pots of jambalaya and a big rum cake (I'm still trying to figure out side dishes) and once I'm certain that everybody is fed and happy and I have fulfilled my hostess obligation, I'm going to disappear with the kids upstairs and read.
I honestly don't mind the cooking, and they're good people (mostly), there's just too damned many of them.
Aaaand I've got the oven preheating now so I can get the cake baked and most of the ingredients chopped up and into prep bags before I take the kids to ballet this morning.
And I'm trying not to be stressed.
The food part is easy. Everybody likes my food. (Except for Nobody's Home.) It's the people.

I didn't know your husband was the martial artist. I look forward to fighting with him over both you and who gets to clean the gutters.

The dinner thing brings back memories.

Here's hoping they arrive in small groups so you are not overwhelmed, and that they allow you to disappear to read before too long.

I"m sure I would love your cooking. NobodysHome is hard wired to like only his wife's cooking, I'm sure.

I've almost never seen Goth Bard cook. She says she cooks. (She did make me fabulous Happy Tree Friends cupcakes for my birthday one year. She cut up gummi bears and impaled them on tiny spikes with red gel icing. It was adorable.) But NH is the chef.

You know, absconding with you, gothbard, lynora(did i abscond with her? I'm sure I would, I want her super comfy bed), is one of the best culinary decisions I have ever made.

Random Shiro story -- he spent a LOT of time in Michigan winters looking for something to do. One of the things he taught himself was to catch flies bare-handed.

It's a really weird-but-amazing ability. If a fly starts bothering us, he just snatches it out of the air.

Yeah, he's a show-off! :-P

Okay, after the kids' pediatrician telling me "go to CVS; they take Medi-Cal", driving/waiting almost an hour and a half to get to a CVS offering pediatric flu shots, I got told nope, they don't take Medi-Cal. But I should try calling the local hospital. Hospital said, no, they don't accept it, either. And then told me to call Walmart.

OK. Holy carp. What the heck happened to all the places that advertise "FREE" flu shots? I see Target, CVS, and Wal*Mart talking about them all the time! I guess "free" isn't free?

(We've managed to cycle the kids' annual physicals so that the kids and I all get our flu shots in conjunction with our annual check-ups. It was funny. We were at the pediatricians and I asked, "Can I get one, too?" and they said, "We'll have to charge you $30 for it."

It was the first time I'd been told a flu shot cost money. I was surprised.

I am appalled that you can't get your kids flu shots for free if you want them.

Well, I'm experimenting tonight... one pot is the standard chicken/andouille sausage/prawns, and the other pot (which has to accommodate allergies to seafood and garlic) is just chicken and pork belly. Honestly, who the fleurk is allergic to garlic, other than my 95-year-old grandmother (who just says she is because she's a snob)?

Those "free" signs (a) just mean free with insurance, no co-pay, and (b) are designed to get people in the door. Everyone shows up for something free, even if they don't want/need it. Even Walmart charges 39.84 without insurance.
