Well, we probably shouldn't have naked kids, so naked dog for totp I guess.

Pretty much. I was so jazzed about the whole teaching thing, but the owner was just horrible. Too bad I waited so long to bail, or I would have slid right back in to my store, as it was I had to wait for my replacement to flake.

Kids and dog are good. Our youngest and the dog are curled up in bed with daddy right now, and the older two are enjoying a school break and the opportunity to stay up a lil later to play some video games.

And you? How are you and yours?

Pretty good. My son starts ‘big school’ (as he calls it) in a couple of weeks time, I’m both proud and astounded at where the time went. My daughter turned one a month and a half ago, she has just begun crawling and pulling herself into a standing position in the past couple of weeks, so I’ve been slowly getting around to baby-proofing the house again. It’s tough to leave them to come to work every morning (though having said that I’d probably go slowly mad if I looked after them every day).

First day of school? Rough one. I cried...everyday for the first week. :S

I would love to be a stay at home parent, but I know they would drive me insane. :)

Howdy, folks! Busy day. I wonder if my missing posts are back in my count, now.

Hi Mairkurion, how are you today?

Okee-dokee, Mothy. How about you?

Liberty's Edge

Quite good, just having a coffee and browsing the boards.

Howdy, all!

Off work early tonight (0030, instead of 0600) and I'm loving it!

Those of you with little ones...do you have an iPhone?

If so, the facetime thing is superb...I got to say hi to my 18mo nephew & he actually got to see me & wave.

Never thought I'd dig the apple product, but hey, gotta give it to em this time.

Liberty's Edge

Hi psionichamster.

I've got an ipad, but no iphone ... so with only the one device it doesn't really work so well. It does seem to be a good feature though.

Yeah, the only reason I saw that feature is that we got my father a new iPhone for xmas, while my brother got.one through work.

I didn't care about the "I" technology til right there & then.

So anyway,....

I got called in tonight to the other call job.....I get there at 5:00.. I'm walking in and I see.....this cat.
Dun colored,....spots,....grey fringe,....bobbed tail,.....lynx like ears and sideburns......just walkin along like, "whatever."

so I roll into the hospital, telling everybody I see "uh, be careful in the parking lot; I just saw a bobcat."

So, nobody believes me but me, which I totally understand. Then this one lady who works there calls security, and gets my name and number in case they want to talk to me.

So, I get in there, and I get a call from security; the security lady said that bobcat kittens have been seen in the woods nearby; however, that thing I saw was probably somebody's pet.....part lynx of something, that lives in the apartments behind the hospital. They've seen the thing before, and it's.....kinda domestic, which explained why I saw it and instead of running away before I could see it, it just kinda walked along like "whatever." I mean, I know I didn't roll a crit on my stealth, so I wasn't exactly sneaking up on this bobcat.

So, annyhoo......

Heh... When I was working for SW&B/Internation Paper, we used to get a lot of seasonal workers from Alabama and Georgia that would camp out in the Wal-Mart parking lot when they weren't working. The bosses called them all Rebs. But it was OK, because we all collectively were referred to and referred to ourselves as Rednecks.

I'm just a Yankee redneck son of a b%~#*.

That's the problem - no cable tv and no over the air signal here means no PBS. Gotta wait for Netflix. SO no spoilers :D

I posted this in advice, but I figured I'd through it up here too.

Two of our Serpent Skull characters are from an Andoran Orphanage of Cayden Cailean. My ranger rogue is a devout follower of Cayden Cailean and Diane's inquisitor serves Milani. They were raised in the same orphanage, but I can't find any details for temples and the like in Andoran.

I presume Almus and Augustana would be large enough to have such an orphanage and a temple of Milani. Is there any cannon information on this?

I don’t know if there’s any cannon information on this (I can check the Andoran players companion book when I get home if I have a chance, though I don’t think it goes into that sort of detail), but I think it’s a fairly safe bet that either of those cities would be large enough and have the right political climate to house either of those institutions (although Milani is more commonly worshipped in Galt and the River Kingdoms I can see her being popular enough in Andoran that large cities would have at least a small temple or shrine dedicated to her).

By the way, I just googled ‘Milani’ to make sure I had my facts right (couldn’t really remember the details on her) ... You get some very interesting (and borderline NSFW) images come up on a google search of that name ...

I figure it's a safe assumption, and I could pick either city. Golorian is very generic that way.

Here is the my background so far. The square brackets are the scribes comments.

hide:
Seckor Cailean grew to adulthood in an orphanage in Andoran built and run by the church folk of Cayden Cailean and supported by other goodly clergies and kind folk. His growth to manhood was modest and humble, but it was happy by far compared to the hurt and loss of his shadowy childhood memories. The details of his early childhood are very vague, but they are joyful. He was old enough to begin learning how to track, hunt and fish. Someone had even begun to teach him the basics of reading and writing. He barely remembers an older brother and baby sister. He recalls his mother as a proud protective angel foiling his more foolish explorations. He recalls his father as a strong, swift, tireless master of the living jungle. Such is the memory of small children. [We believe Seckor hails from one of the Bonuwat tribes, but this is only speculation.]

These joyful memories are clouded by time, and the terror of their end is sharp but confused. The images of the other peoples hateful attackers killing and shackling those who could not flee and the screams of fear and anger are still branded on his mind. His father told him to run and warn his mother, but he was frightened and confused. His father screamed in rage and leapt into them with his spear. Surely he would make them run away or kill them like the boars he brought back for our people to share, but there were many of them, and he could only kill some of them before they killed him. Seckor knew he was supposed to run away and warn his mother, but he could not imagine that his father would be slaughtered in front of him. He does not know how long he stood there in shocked disbelief, but one of the others hit him with a club, and all was darkness. [The scant evidence we could recover would suggest that Bekyars slavers had raided Seckor’s village, but we have not been able to discover the origin or fate of his family.]

Seckor woke up from the darkness in hell. At least he assumed it was hell. The smell was horrible. It was dark. He could barely move. He was surrounded by screams. People in chains with dead eyes gave us stale grey watery fishy soup. A thing in red robes said words that were not words and the blackness returned. This happened many times. Then one time he awoke, and the sun burned his eyes. A woman was holding him gently, but her skin was a strange yellow, and her hair was a light brown. Her clothes were leather and metal, but her words were a pretty song he could not understand. He was on a giant boat with many people he didn’t know. A girl from his land told him they had been saved from devils, but they could not go home because they couldn’t find home, but their rescuers would take them to a safe new home. This frightened Seckor, but he could see the sun again, and they gave him good fish and fruit. They also gave him a wonderful drink that filled his belly and made him warm and happy.

Soon they came to a giant place with many giant boats and impossibly giant houses. This place had more people than he had ever seen. Then they went to a giant house with more children in one place than he had ever seen in his life. He had never seen so many different colors and sizes and shapes of people or children, but the strange women sang pretty songs with words he could not understand, and they made him less afraid. They gave him warm clothes in this strangely cold place, and they gave him strange new foods and drinks that were delicious!

Over time Seckor learned that he and everyone on the slave ship had been rescued by Andoran abolitionists and adventurers. The children [and a generous amount of treasure] had been safely delivered to the orphanage of Cayden Cailean in ((insert appropriate city)). The abolitionists and adventurers were secretive as to their deeds for the most part, but Seckor eventually learned of at least one of the heroes who he grew to revere. Vors Cailean was also an orphan who took Cailean as his surname. He chose the path of the hero and set out to make the world a better place, and he decided to have a hell of a good time doing it. He had a reputation as a wise and studious man [which the teachers at orphanage exaggerated to encourage education] and a swift and deadly dual swordsman [which needed no exaggeration]. He loved hard, lived well, and died free [we presume].

Seckor has grown to be an inquisitive and fine young man of boundless energy and good courage. He would tolerate no bullying or abuse of smaller or weaker children in the orphanage even at the cost of a grim beating. More than once he stood up to the same bully even after a beating, and he learned the value of striking first and hard when the fight was inevitable. He is quite certain that he is called to be a hero and explorer. He loves his adopted homeland of Andoran, but his ancestral lands still call to him. He has applied himself to his studies. He learns best by hearing, seeing and doing, but sitting still for long and reading is a hard chore for him. He has shown himself a hard worker and quick study in the shipyards, but the life of a common sailor will not be enough for him. He learns new tongues with quick enthusiasm, and he shows promise for learning many more things, but the life of a sage or scribe will never be his calling. He may indeed become a fine explorer, but he is unerringly fixed on his calling to be a hero. [May the gods of good guide and preserve him.]

[The written testimony of Seckor Cailean taken by the hand of the righteous sage, healer and educator of Iori, Bala of the Open Hand at the great orphanage of Cayden Cailean in ((insert appropriate city)) on the anniversary of majority.]

The image search is pleasant, but they could stand to eat something.

Here is the a link.
