I choose Calistria for this character to explore the religion a little. It's fun because she's focused on the vengeance aspect more than the sexual side, partly because it makes her uncomfortable. One good example was being introduced to a new party and the summoner took hair samples of everyone. Without asking. So at the end of the adventure, she cut his hair while he was sleeping as payback.
Edit: She doesn't usually get naked, but it's not that out of character.

"Can you provide us an update on ticket number xxxxxxx? The user hasn't been able to work for a couple days because of the issue."
I've never seen this ticket before. It's currently being worked on by a completely different team. Here's a thought: Ask the person who's actually assigned your ticket for a status update rather than someone who hasn't had anything to do with the issue at all.
And by the way, the ticket is actually with the one person on that team that it needs to be with to solve the issue you're having. Talk to him.

Wow... we're getting hammered by the kind of storm we only see once every 5-6 years or so.
It's... impressive.
What's even more impressive is that my $50 plastic wrap job seems to be holding... for now. I went through the house and the only leak is in the back of the kitchen, where it's dripping on nothing important and we plan to replace the roof and ceiling anyway.
Have at, rain! And welcome! It'll be nice to have a non-drought year or two...

Oh, and continuation of my vent/rant - if they reply to the ticket itself, it automatically notifies the technician who is assigned the ticket. You don't even have to look up who has the ticket.
We can't do our taxes yet because we're still missing one piece of documentation that is supposed to be sent to us no later than Feb 25th. I need to do a couple things if we get a refund. I'm not holding out hope that we're actually getting one though. I'm hoping to replace a couple computers in the house this year, plus I'm still hoping/planning on a 5500 mile road trip.

What the hell is the appeal of Calistra? Ever since day one of the Golarion setting, she's the one deity I can't wrap my head around why people love her so much. She's easily my least favorite god in the setting.
I really don't care for her much, either. She seems custom-built for fanboyz who want to play dominatrixes.
The problem is, she's the only deity for whom there are high-enough level clerics in the area.
So if you have to play a cleric of Calistria, you've got to go whole hog, and I'll have fun doing it.
But I can immediately think of half a dozen deities I'd rather worship.
EDIT: Most... appropriate... TOP... EVER!!!!!
That's not it. I don't have any issue with a sex deity or a revenge deity. Either of those alone would be fine. Nothing wrong with playing a sexual character; nothing wrong with going full Inigo Montoya. It's the combination of lust and revenge in one entity that makes me nope out.
Calistria is the patron of stalkers and psycho-exes. Calistria is backing that guy who's cheesed off you turned him down at the bar and is going to give him the spells to teach you a lesson in the parking lot. Calistria's favorite song is either "Goodbye Earl" or "Before He Cheats."
And unfortunately, Golarion putting her as essentially the chief elven deity means I'm forced to associate elves with this behavior.
I love the latter song.
That said, I liked the write up in the deity book for her, and it pushes a slightly different take than what you are putting forth here. Then again, I like both sex and revenge, so maybe I'm a bit blind to criticism of her aspects.

Uuuurgh.
Why is my gas + electric bill $360/month during the winter, for a house that's under 1000 square feet in a temperate climate?
At 7:50 am, everyone else said they were leaving, so I turned off all the lights in the house and both heaters.
At 8:10 am after everyone was gone, I got back up, and the lights in every room in the house were back on.
It is mind-bogglingly aggravating.

Kind of get what your saying here, and I at least agree too an extend.
Though personally I never really associated her that much with BDSM (outside some whip usage and feats…).Sex and prostitution...sure but not really BDSM in particular.
…
That's kind of Zon-Kuthons and his army of cenobite gimps thing (at least for me)
So if you have to play a cleric of Calistria, you've got to go whole hog, and I'll have fun doing it.
Yup, I agree ^^
I could go on and on, but I won't. I suspect she is strongly adored by boys who like to play uber-sexualized women, and women who like to play "sex is power" characters, So basically players who want to focus on their PC's sexuality...
Eh...
Not sure if its quite that simple...but I can see what your saying.Though there is an aspect of sexuality to it for sure.
It occurs to as Calistria is more a representation of the primal and wilder unbridled sexuality which might be contained by, but is constantly pushing against, its own social moorings.
While in contrast the sexuality of Shelyn is the encultured formalized and "safe" sexuality of a measured system of social expectations and "rules".
…
In other words Calistria will make you slap her ass and bite her earlobe to heighten the passion, While Shelyn will make you go to Victoria's Secret.
she's a pretty standard sex and revenge deity. If you have issues with one or the other, she isn't going to make much sense to you.
Kind of where I land in the end. Think they had a lot of interesting angles broached with her that they didn't really develop into something that could be considered a...hmmm..."finished feeling whole".
I have long been wondering if she would be better served if you stripped her (*eyebrow waggle*) of her "Revenge" area of concern and gave her Shelyn's "Love" aoc...might make her seem more nurturing and approachable.
Though I also fear it would rob her of some of the "conflicting ideas" that kind of make her more interesting.
...
Calistria's favorite song is either "Goodbye Earl" or "Before He Cheats."...
Hmmm…
Don't think it would be Shelyn's favorite song, but for some reason I associate this one with her...You wanna know a scary god... Kali. Kali scary.
Eh...
Not really that scary, just a bit different from our usual way of thinking over here in the west....
Someone please think about the kids!...

The Rogue Abuse Will Continue Until Morale Improves
It's amazing how a seemingly-reasonable request can so utterly hamstring a party.
GothBard made her feelings rather straightforward: "Don't introduce a new PC who's suddenly going to outshine the rest of the party. Otherwise play what you think will be fun."
So, we have a paladin who goes to bed every night with multiple Smite Evils and bonded weapons still available. Seriously. He's 14th level, and ever since he got it at 11th level, the bread-and-butter, "Grant everyone in the party the ability to Smite" has gone unused. Having a Holy weapon for 40 minutes a day? Unused. So the paladin gets horrifically beaten on because of his low AC, does very low damage because he doesn't buff himself, and who spends all of his Lay on Hands on himself rather than channeling for the party because he's so busy getting beaten on.
We have an inquisitor who far, far, far surpasses her 3/4 BAB roots, but only because (as Vanykrye keeps pointing out), she has judgements, banes, and spells to boost her To Hit and damage. In spite of getting 1 fewer attack per round (still 3/4 BAB), she out-damages the paladin in every fight.
Finally, we have a sorcerer who, since the party lacks any other buffers, spends most of his rounds casting Haste, Fly or other buffs on the party, or using battlefield control spells quite effectively. But battlefield control is critical but not flashy.
So I can't play a full BAB PC because I'd immediately eclipse the woefully-underperforming paladin and the 3/4 BAB inquisitor. I can't play a full caster because I'd immediately eclipse the harried sorcerer. Which leaves... bard!
And not only would a bard not solve our issues, but I can't fit one into the storyline either.
So I'm going to stick with rogue until the inevitable TPK we run into because we're so grossly underpowered.

Are PrCs allowed? Maybe arcane trickster - rogue with some arcane to keep yourself helpful. Just don't pick the same spells as the sorc, and you shouldn't have too much overlap.
NobodysHome
So, investigator (even if allowed, which I think it isn't) does nothing whatsoever to address the fundamental issue: In a full round of attacks while Hasted our two frontline fighters average about 60-80 total hit points of damage against AC 25 opponents. At 13th level!!!! (And no, not ONE of them. The TWO OF THEM COMBINED add up to 60-80.)
The damage output is terrifyingly, appallingly small. An investigator is just YASBTQBAB: Yet Another Self-Buffing Three-Quarters Base Attack Bonus class. I don't see investigator changing the overall paradigm of the group.
It's funny -- I was looking at Shadow Dancer to get the darkvision and Hide in Plain Sight, but one sneak attack hit won't help at all.
Arcane Trickster's cute, but similar issues: She wouldn't resolve the party's underlying weaknesses.
A bard would help immensely, but being told, "Yeah, your rogue is useless in combat, so choose another class that's useless in combat, but that'll make the rest of us better" is a bit insulting, to say the least.
At this point, it just seems far wiser to let the chips fall where they may, and when the party wipe happens rebuild with everybody getting a decent class they want to play.

It sounds like something went wrong somewhere. That said, is it really a bad thing for the party to have weaknesses?
Tequila Sunrise
Yeah why are class abilities not being used, is the player forgetting them?
That said, I do not miss the class tiers aspect of D&D 3.x. Playing a point buy game I might expect a GM to have to say "Make what you want without overshadowing the other players," and have to considerably narrow down my options from there. But in a level-based game I expect levels to be a reasonable estimate of effectiveness, so the GM can just say "Make what you want, level X" and be able to pick from the options available.
NobodysHome
It sounds like something went wrong somewhere. That said, is it really a bad thing for the party to have weaknesses?
So, it's not so much "weaknesses" as "no strengths at all".
Shiro has confided in me that he's had to intentionally drop the CRs of CR-appropriate encounters because he knew they'd TPK us. I find that unfair to him because he eventually wants to publish this AP, so he should playtest it as-written, and unfair to us because learning by failure is an important aspect of any RPG.
We have a party that at 12th level had its frontline fighters "in the ring" at AC 25, no in-combat healing beyond a wand of Cure Light Wounds, less than 100 hit points per round grand total from the entire party, and no crippling buffs/debuffs.
It's not "a weakness".
It's, "This party has difficulty taking on an equal-CR encounter because of its poor synergy."
NobodysHome
And yeah, all in all, I was unhappy because Shiro was confiding in me that he's having trouble writing the AP at this point because appropriate encounters would TPK us. The recommendation is CR+2 leading up to a CR+3 end-of-book boss, with an occasional once-every-couple-of-books CR+4 to really challenge the party.
At this point, every CR+3 creature he looks at would TPK us, so he's generating the CR+3 encounters by using multiple lower-CR creatures.
I'd rather see the party get eaten by a dragon than watch the GM try to softshoe around our obvious weaknesses.
I'm happy playing my rogue; I'd just rather see her retire happy and content than let her be part of an inevitable TPK.
As for the paladin, I just can't explain it. An obsession with conserving resources? Overroleplaying? Playing two PCs at once so he's trying to get one killed? (We never could find a fourth, after months of trying, so we've played the entire AP with 3 players, one of whom is dual-playing.)
Anyway, the overall reaction to my trying to switch to something that could bail out the party was, "Why you gotta be a showoff?", so I'll cheerfully play my rogue until her inevitable demise...
...then I'm bringing in my frigging cleric!

Is your house time sensor operated or something to automatically turn on etc? My brother also had a large electricity bill during winter such that he closed all the doors and turned on the heater in the room he was using only, and also wore more layers so he didn't need to have the heater temp that high up.

I got three UPS boxes today from my mom and sister, filled with my grandmother's sweaters and jewelry. Most of the sweaters she knit herself. Her garment construction was exquisite... I pride myself on my handwork, but she puts me to shame. The best part is that they all still smell like her.
My favorite piece is a navy blue wool boucle suit that she knit for a trip to Europe with her parents and sister in the 60's. Pencil skirt and waist-length jacket with big buttons. I remember seeing her wear it when I was a girl... she came to visit us in Wisconsin and got off the plane in this gorgeous suit and a pair of navy heels, with her hair just so and her big sunglasses. I thought she looked like Jackie O, but prettier. So elegant, so poised. I guess the apple fell a little far from the tree... and then kept rolling.
It fits... kinda. I can get it on and it looks okay, but I either need to lose a few more pounds or buy some spanx to make it look really good on me. I do have the right shoes, though.

I certainly do not run players animal companions for them, I have enough monsters to run.

I would tell the group that Shiro is trying to get his AP play tested and we're not being very good playtesters because we're simply not up to scratch. So we need to step up our game.
That being said, the average pathfinder isn't that rules savvy, so on Shiro's side, he may have set the bar too high as well.
If he doesn't mind he could try play test it as a PBP on paizo boards but it might be too public for his taste.
I'm not sure if had I been around where you stay, I would have joined the playtest. On one hand, I genuinely want to help, but on the other hand, I don't have any desire to roll up characters. Because burnout. And it's not coming back. That sense of adventure is still gone.

Standard sword axe-and-board paladin of Torag. Just hard to conceive of a paladin doing so little damage and calling it a night with so many unused abilities...
Okay...

One-handed with a buckler. But since her DPS is higher than the paladin's, nobody's complaining.

So everyone's misconstruing me. I do not want to change my character to try a new class or something. I feel that I need to change my character because our party is woefully ineffective and she is the weakest link. It's not so much being stifled in my creativity as it is, "Hey, guys! We have a serious problem here! Should I build a new PC that can take up all the slack?"
"NO!!!!"I built out her next 3 levels as a rogue or a cleric, and I think 3 levels of cleric help immensely: Bit of Luck gives the inquisitor a sorely-needed buff, True Strike grants at least one nasty sneak attack that I can pile debuffs into, and a single level of cleric opens up a HUGE stack of scrolls and spells that become much easier to cast without a 30+ UMD roll.
So she'll slowly turn into a buffer. Hopefully the party won't die before she gets there.

I don't think your rogue is the weakest link - I think it's the paladin. Your rogue is doing the best she can with the limitations of her class. The paladin took a powerhouse class and specialized in Sacred Foamrubber Mallets. If they're not going to use all their paladinny goodness, they should probably just be a fighter.

It's not the waist that's the problem; my butt is a bit pronounced for a knit skirt. So either a Lycra girdle, or jogging. I think I hate jogging slightly less.

Unfortunately spot reduction is a myth. You can’t slim down one part without slimming the rest. Yeah – I found that one out the hard way – not that I minded overly much since I’ve always found myself a little too big in the chest department. What you can do is tone your muscles in your butt so it sticks out less…
Anyway last time I couldn’t wrap my towel around my waist and butt, now I can, with room to even tuck it in.
The problem is that you’re a working mom so the time you have available for exercises is limited. But weight loss is about calorie intake < calorie output, so since you don’t have that much time to exercise…eh if you drink sugary drinks, try to take them out of your diet, cut sugar out of your coffee(yeah I can drink coffee without sugar these days just don’t see the need to) and tea.
Jogging is a good way to lose weight, but if you are very overweight its quite taxing on your knee joints. Also you're older then I am so...I'm not that sure of what your body will let you pull off. Swimming has the least impact for all exercises.

All told I worked 30.5 out of 38 hours.
Some fun things that happened.
1. I saw a gay guy from Illinois outwork and out lift a jock and construction worker.
2. I was yelled at by 4 people because I didn't get to their house soon enough.
3. S+#$, I had something for this!
4. I only had four travel mugs of coffee the entire time.

Aaaaaand ninja'd.

You know now that I think about it assuming that deities get their power from number of followers (which I think is not the case in paizo) a god of atheism would be insanely powerful. Hes get buffs for every drop of doubt out there. basically an anti-deity. I think they had something like that in epic level handbook but I could be mistaken.
Oh wait it wasn't in ELH I think it was in Elder evils.
Yep, Sertrous, the snakey obyrith (aka qlippoth) who is credited with establishing the idea of "cleric of a concept" who doesn't worship a deity but instead draws divine power from their own belief and some nebulous cosmic energy source.

Just a Mort wrote:It's not the waist that's the problem; my butt is a bit pronounced for a knit skirt. So either a Lycra girdle, or jogging. I think I hate jogging slightly less.lisamarlene wrote:I got three UPS boxes today from my mom and sister, filled with my grandmother's sweaters and jewelry.
How about some waist tightening contraptions to help you fit better? I dunno whut you'd call that...
Also need any help on losing those pounds? Do you have access to a swimming pool? Else brisk walks are a good idea.
orders more knit skirts, in various colors

Oops. I guess we spoiler these things!
Aaaand... there goes another one!
(Well, not yet, but the prognosis is bad. This one is a friend I've known pretty much since I was born, since he met my older brother in pre-school and they started hanging out in kindergarten.)
Hi xxx,
yyy is in the ICU. He was in cardiac arrest and unresponsive this morning at the nursing home. Paramedics were able to resuscitate him after 20 minutes. He is intubated, has a clot in his heart, is in liver failure and has water in his lungs. The doctors will keep working on keeping him as stable as possible, but warned us that he can go any way over the next 24 hours. Remarkably he is alert making eye movements and squeezing hands. I know he would want you to know. Please let your brother and zzz know. I am so saddened by this news.
I think that's the hardest part of being in your 50s: You might have taken great care of yourself, but it's the age you begin losing friends all over again. I haven't had a friend die in nearly 15 years now, so it's sad to see the cycle begin anew.
EDIT: And I think I've mentioned it before, but "being NobodysHome's friend" was a leading cause of death at my high school, so losing friends is all too familiar to me. Was just hoping to get to wait another decade or so...

The boss hired someone else with the same first name as me. That's now 3 of us, still not the five of us that worked at Barnes, but still confusing enough for the new guys.
I wonder what they'll call him, I'm referred to by my last name, other Captain is first name, so I guess they'll use his middle name.
