So, this guy gets in his car, drives a block, picks up this other guy who had walked a half block to the corner. They do a Y turn, and go back to the first place, a block away. Meanwhile, I'm casually strolling with a Beagle (nature's time hogs) and I make it in the exact same time.

It's nice to know, when society falls, where the easily pillaged supplies will be. :-)

Sometimes, the simple props in a game work best.

In our Skull & Shackles game, my tiefling life oracle Del was wooed by Captain Pierce somethingorother (do last names really matter?), so when it came time for the GM to provide us with the next plot hook, she provided it as a letter from Pierce to Del, interspersed with, er, more "romantic" prose.

So all the other players had to sit around the table as I (Del) carefully tore the note to pieces, removing all the salacious bits, before finally handing my captain a torn-up piece of paper and saying, "Pierce thinks you need to know this, m'Lord captain."

Cue the captain playing it to the hilt: "Well, this really is very useful information! But why does he call me 'my dove'?"

A bit of prep time by the GM, a single sheet of paper, and hilarity all around.

Old-school props are still the best.

I know electric kettles can boil water in less than a minute, and I do own one, but there's something warm and fuzzy about lighting a burner under an old fashioned stovetop kettle. It's, like, part of some comfortable routine of preparing tea, and I wouldn't be making tea if I didn't want comforting things.

Or maybe it's the sudden presence of fire.

Yeah, that's too bad! Our GM played him up magnificently -- following Del around, flattering her unabashedly, and even refusing to climb her tail when they were in hot pursuit of a bad guy and Captain Finn, hopelessly failing his Climb roll, needed a hand (or a tail). "A gentleman does not climb a lady's tail."

We spent some session time with him taking her out for romantic dates, and now they're an "item"... for which she gets neverending grief from her captain, but she doesn't care. She's got a boyfriend! :D

This is what happened in our case.

I think he was doomed to failure. Isabella wasn't interested in romance and tried to avoid human contact. Kiani, Sandara and Fox were more interested on each other (they had a strange relationship) and Darren was happily married to Agasta Smythee.

But it made a hilarious scene with the PCs completely ignoring him.
