Netflix series recommendation: I'm Not Okay With This
A dash of {i]Stranger Things[/i] and Umbrella Academy. A big, heaping pile of '80s John Hughes movies (specifically Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club). A young female lead doing her best to channel Elliot Page in Juno. Another big reference that I can't mention without spoiling the entire first season, but you'll guess it fairly easily.
It is on the predictable side of things, but I think it was still done well and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Based on a comic book by Forsman. Netflix seems to like his work.

Oh, right, your game Scint.
I was starting to search the thread for whatever I missed.
Our Scint has been pretty quiet since this school year started.
as has orthos.
Here's hoping both are okay.
In the game, it was a meatgrinder, however. It would not have been a victory without Scint. The difficulty spike has occurred, as we are punching up, certainly- taking on the clans is never easy- and oh man are we licking out wounds afterwards. Feros, Sharoth, Nyarl, and at least one more were downed, as the enemy spread out and took the high ground and we had to maneuver over to them while taking fire. Scint, being small, was ignored in favor of the larger guns mentioned above, and some were taken out without ever really firing a shot- truly frustrating when the computer piles on the most significant threat. But with Scint operating in the backfield, and Amby and a few others damaged but still fighting, we managed to win the day.

If the computer is concentrating fire, then it isn't behaving like the Clans should.

next to impossible to pull that of/ program that in a game like this. The closest I ever saw was the lunar missions in Mechcommander 2, and that was STILL INCREDIBLY HARD. Also clans would not act clan-like when you are attacking their planet without warning, they will defend themselves if set upon by inner sphere mercenaries fulfilling a contract, which is what we are.

It's best not to think too hard about these things.

What l learned from watching Game of Thrones this week (season 2).
You shouldn't go around finger banging any woman that gives you a ride to the Lord's Castle. You never know if she's your sister who you haven't seen for ten years and it turns out she's into that sort of thing.
Also, the Game of Thrones author has some serious issues with women that he should probably see a therapist to work through.
Finally, Peter Dinklage is a national treasure (what nation you ask? All of them).

I just found my full tax forms dating back to 1980...
I think the very best part is that way back the 1970s my parents put gave me a "college fund" of around $2000. With Carter's inflation going bonkers, that was worth around $250 of income per year. My parents felt it would be good practice for me to start doing my own taxes.
So yes, at the tender young age of 11 I was filing both state and federal taxes. Fortunately, since my parents didn't believe in investing in stocks, it was all bank interest so filling out the forms was really easy. Unfortunately, my parents didn't believe in investing in stocks, or I'd likely be retired by now. ($1000 invested in Apple at its IPO would be worth $400,000 now, and $1000 invested in Microsoft at its IPO would be worth $1.6 million now.)

Just got home after nine hours cleaning and resetting my classroom for my students to return to campus on Monday, after being in home learning since mid-November. It shouldn't have taken so long, but there was a certain amount of emotional paralysis.
Good luck and be safe. COVID19 is not over.

Doing my best. 40% of my class has had it now. They're going to start giving all the faculty weekly rapid tests. I don't think it's to prevent us from geting sick, just to stop it from spreading.

When I read Game of Thrones (the first four books), I hated them. I couldn't understand why people liked them so much. I only read them because they had been a Christmas gift from my brother (he hadn't read them either, but the show was popular-not that either of us had seen it at that point). Then I watched the first season of the show, thinking "They had to have found a way to make it work in order for it to be so popular." I hated it as much, if not more, than the books. Never watched any more of the show, donated the books to the library.

Yeah I feel like they pushed this whole realistic fantasy where any character could die at any point as if it was a selling point. Their are so many better books out their that deserve to be made into a movie. I want that live action belgaraid myself.
Speaking of books being made into movies anyone seen "The watch" yet?

I felt like it was just about sex and violence, and if I wanted to see that I would watch Spartacus. It wasn't "good", but I found it to be more entertaining than GoT. Plus, it wasn't so f%*$ing dark. I hate movies and tv shows that are so dark that you can't actually see anything.
That was my main problem with the second AVP. I couldn't make out anything that was happening.

Obviously this doesn't help you personally, but in Illinois, teachers are right behind healthcare workers for the vaccine rollout.

We were, originally. Then our governor decided to change it, so instead of this month, we're being told "hopefully by Spring Break".

Rhianna Pratchett was pretty vocal about how they'd departed pretty widely from her father's work and weren't even acknowledging him, just trying to do their own thing loosely based on it, so, big no.

Aww I hadn't heard that. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I had hopes.. Maybe one day we will get a decent disc world series.

I really liked The Color of Magic and Hogfather movies. The same guy who did those (Vadim Jean), also did Going Postal, and IMO that's the best of the three. The cast is really solid, particularly the Moist, and they got David Suchet (Poirot) to play Reacher Gilt.
I would really like to see more films in this series... I think Maskerade would lend itself well, plus you'd get Granny and Nanny. I'd like to see Dame Eileen Atkins as Granny Weatherwax and Miriam Margoyles as Nanny Ogg (Professor Sprout in Harry Potter, the Black Adder).
Okay, or Soul Music would be good, too, so we could have more of Michelle Dockery as Susan, because she was perfect.

So, this has been bothering me since California started its second "full shutdown" on December 3, but at this point I'm utterly perplexed.
[The orders] prohibit private gatherings of any size, close sector operations except for critical infrastructure and retail, and require 100% masking (with certain exceptions as indicated within guidance for use of face coverings) and physical distancing in all others.
And yet...
...a few days ago GothBard went to several local bookstores to pick up her 2021 calendars......last night, Impus Major and his friend went to the frozen yogurt shop and got (surprise) frozen yogurts...
...every retail outlet on Solano avenue is open, from carpet stores to mattress stores to art boutiques to lighting shops.
In short, California is making national news with a New York-level outbreak. We're out of ICU beds in Southern California. We have a statewide lockdown...
...and everyone is ignoring it. It's as if the December 3rd order was never issued.
What if you held a lockdown and nobody came?

Wait, people still use calendars.
I don't think we've gotten a calendar since 2000.
And why do you need more than one.
And why did she have to go to multiple stores, I've been to Barnes and Noble recently and they had a shitload of calendars.
I realize that's not the crux of your post but I've been watching a lot of "Everything wrong with movies" videos on Youtube, so.

Wife shopping for a calendar. Child buying a frozen yogurt. Husband complaining about everyone who is ignoring the lockdown. Irony abounds
Yep.
As I've told Impus Major: "What you are doing is illegal and could result in a citation. You're over 18 so I can't tell you what to do, but if you get a ticket you're paying for it yourself."
He's OK with that.
