Eh, don't mind me. Don't mean to rain on your parade. I'm just grumpy. Sorry. There are plenty of stereotypes around: hardheaded Dutch, cowardly French, etc. Scots got no corner on stereotyping.Well, since you're Scottish, obviously you're grumpy. :D

Speaking of Germans, I just read an article about how German beer gardens are the new up and coming trend in American cities(like Irish pubs for the last few decades). I find that kinda cool since so many Americans have German ancestry yet no one acknowledges it.
the Biergarten is the best invention ever. of course again made by the Bavarians *shakes fist southward* but they have spread all over germany by now

oh, just german grandparents?
where are they from?
have you been over here?
My Scottish grandparents came over between the wars. My German forebears came over in the sixteenhundredsomethings! I believe we've got a little Swiss married in there too, but they stuck to the Pennsylvania Dutch country for a long time, so we're pretty much German on my Dad's side.
I've been to Germany a couple of times and love it! We visited the south, mostly little towns but did get Munich in.

I'm half Polish. For years, I've been praying that the Eike of my grandfather was some weird misspelling of an Irish name, but it turns out it's German. So, I'm at least a quarter that. So a quarter of me is always trying to conquer the other half of me.
My grandmother, we have nooooo idea. We know she was born in Stroudsburg (my hometown and my mom's) and her parents were born there, but we can't find much out prior to that. I'd like to believe we came fully-formed from Zeus' forehead sometime before the civil war, but there's no record, so I can't prove it.

cool, the south especally Munich and the Alps are the classic tourist route - and not without reason! I love Munich.
But the North Sea Coast or the Lakes in the North east and the big Forests in the Middle Moutains are quite nice, too. (especally Hessia, of course, I live right in the heart of Grimm Feary Tale County)

Eike is a rare north german name, there once was a famous football goaly Eike Immel.
and we don't try to conquer poland anymore, because that's wrong.

Can I just say I am a Cajun Mutt. It's easier that way.
I think I qualify as an American, due to the amount of mix. ;) (English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French, German, Bohemian, Native American, etc).

3 grandparents were Dutch (though we suspect, because of the name, that the Lobezoos were at one time French Huguenots that fled to the Netherlands), and one is more of a typical American mish-mash, with larger amounts of Danish and Scottish blood than all the other randomness.

Cousin! My Dad's parents came over to the PA Dutch area in the 15-1600s (Swiss/German/Dutch). My mom, well she's half Irish half Scottish. Lots of other mixes in my Dad's family tree.

On my mom's side, more Welsh than Irish, and on my dad's side more Irish than Welsh....so it evens out to about half of each. So basically I'm a Celt. :)
Errr....Hard C not soft C. As in cat rather than as in cent.

My family came from somewhere in northwest Germany. I forget the name of the village but my dad and I tracked it down. We could not even fathom how to pronounce it at the time.

Hey my 401k's in the crapper, so I figured a little Satanic sacrifice would work well. >=D
Heck, who am I kidding, I don't got no 401K. I just like sacrificing souls while listening to Soundgarden and benching mad weights.
Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come
