You know how out of all the Turks, Reno always looks shabby? He can fight as well as any of them, is as loyal and committed as any of them, and such, but simply refuses to wear a tie, straighten his suit, and clean up his hair. You can tell he only wears the uniform out of company policy, and does so in such a way because the rules don't say HOW to wear the suit, and he probably wants to piss off Tseng.
Reno is my Spirit Turk.
That's a thing now.

"San Ramon is the safest city in California to raise a child."
Except...
...they excluded all cities nationwide with a population of under 75,000...
...and you have to go to the original article, scroll all the way to the bottom, and read their methodology to get that information.Er, so shouldn't your article be, "San Ramon is the safest large city in California to raise a child?"
I have political biases in play here, so I'll just keep my mouth shut after that.
centsgrosh: The word city itself in English language generally means a large settlement, with modern threshold usually being considered at around 100.000 citizens or more (or any settlement with its own cathedral in UK). If it is less than 100k, it's more likely to be considered a town, though the USA's legal definition of what is and what is not a city might be different and might vary by state...
In the UK, if you have a cathedral, you're a city, regardless of size. St Davids is a city, despite having a population of just over 1k...

A mother and father are talking to their daughter in my lobby. She is starting college this week. Dad is telling her to "study hard so you can succeed, but still make sure to have friends." Mom is telling her "college is a great place to land a husband." It's kind of bizarre to listen to.
That's exactly what the General's parents said when she went to college.

Today is the day, 26 years ago I had my first date with the General, I gave my best friend 10 bucks to drive me 21 miles to the third town north of ours and we spent the night hanging out at the park and then we went for a walk and made out behind her old elementary school.
Also, it's my birthday.
Happy Birthday! And first-date-iversary! :)

By no means did I mean offense. It was sort a "so I thought this one fact was a loophole - apparantly it's not and made me reconsider that possibility".
Not that I'm sure beyond a new perspective how this knowledge will change my life.

Another Indication that NH Just Isn't Normal
So, California passed a bill in 2017 to help first-year community college students pay their tuitions. You don't need to prove financial need; in fact, it's specifically to help students who don't quality for aid.
So Impus Major decided to apply for it. And I objected. Vehemently.
Why?
Because we don't need it. Bluntly, the $1380/year is less than I make in a week. We have enough debt that we're by no means rich, but $1380 is something we can absorb into our budget without batting an eye.
So why take money that you don't need that might be better served going to someone else?
Hoo, boy. The outright disbelief, name calling, and overt hostility I'm getting from Impus Major's friends and friends' parents is out-and-out staggering. "It's free money! What the **** are you doing turning down free money?!??!?"
Apparently I'm an alien. Because I don't believe in taking what I don't need.
It's pretty scary.

In my experience with people living with autism privately(not professionally), they either do not understand sarcasm, or speak only in sarcasm. There is no middle ground, which can make life...weird. Okay, weirdER. I try to keep my dictionary close at hand in case of any mistranslations.

If you go to the Midwest today, you're sure of a big surprise,
There'll be milkmaids with their cleavages out and muscular, creamy thighs,
Though wonderful, they cannot compare,
With what the General has to share,
Today's the day that Yesterday has his biiirthday!!!
When I looked up from my post, all I saw was "creamy thighs".

Nah, that's for toothaches and migraines. What he needs is to be bled. Too much of the red stuff in his veins, that's his problem.

Drama club had a lackluster turnout (probably because kids forgot), but we grabbed a few concession stands for fundraising, so I should be able to cart a few of them to the state conference in January. And they're really, really wanting to write and produce a readers' theatre for the grade school on top of the musical the choir director wants to do, so that'll be interesting. May have been pointing out "We're broke, and writing our own stuff doesn't cost royalties" a bit
I've been approached by several kids about D&D stuff, so I'll have that to deal with once the play I'm in ends. An entirely different crop of Babynerds.
...I'm really conflicted about how busy I'm going to be with everything. It's a good busy, but I might still go crazy.

I feel it's worth mentioning that it's been over three weeks since I started trying to get my prescriptions sorted out after Blue Cross' changeover, including three messages to my doctor and two messages and a LONG phone call with the mail-order company (whose rep told me I was "all taken care of") and I'm still at a whopping 3/6 on my prescriptions, or 2/5 if you count only the ones that didn't automatically roll over.
Best health care in the world! Yeah!

It's in the very humid mid-90°s in the shade here. That's too muggy for even smooshed boobs to work.
