I like both.
Some trips get planned out, with some room for things going wrong or spontaneous decisions - "Oh look! We should stop and spend a couple hours checking this place out!"
Other trips are more of a "Let's go to...east...and do...something..."
Yeah both of those are how my parents roll, leaning much closer to the latter. It drives me bonkers.

Man, I haven’t had borscht in so long. I have no regrets.
(This is not to disrespect you borscht lovers. I have never had a borscht I like. So far, it doesn’t matter whose recipe it is, either. Some people just don’t like specific foods, and, though I am glad others like it, this is one I do not like to eat for me. Though it’s better than a zeppelini.)

Just kidding, as you are from the south I am sure you have heard variations on that for YEARS.
If it helps, I will not eat okra in any form. Just no. I don't care if every female fawtl promises to have a real life abscondi-cave built for me on their dime for them to frolic in whilst I play video games in a room within that remains at 60 degrees year round if I but try a small piece, I ain't eating it. And I am NOT okay with it being snuck into things, either.

I have that with asparagus. Just the smell of the stuff cooking makes me nauseous.
While I love asparagus, this is suuuuuuuuuuuper-understandable. Asparagus has a very particular scent that is just... odd. Though, strangely, it seems that there is a large swath of people who simply can't smell it!
Also it gets its smell into people, and especially their urine, and that is just... strange. I can often smell when someone eats a lot of asparagus, and seemingly can smell whenever someone's eaten it recently and then visited a public restroom. I can also smell it from myself when I've eaten it. It's not aggressively unpleasant - I still like okra - but it is distinctive and odd.
Obviously, I can't say for sure that I always smell when people have eaten it: all I know is that I can definitely smell it when I urinate after eating it myself, and that when I have smelled it in homes it consistently it proves that someone really likes the stuff, and I can occasionally find it lingering in public bathrooms.

Yeah, I had never seen the original Lost in Space and I thought the remake was pretty good.
We saw the live action Aladdin last night, and it was pretty good. Jasmine has her own story arc about wanting to become Agrabah's sultan, and unlike a certain other live action disney movie involving Persian princes, all of the actor ethnicities and accents matched their characters' ethnicities so that was great. The singing was definitely not on par with the cartoon version though.

I actually love the music, and the film in general, though Aladdin's was a bit weaker, and I regret Jafar's lack of even a reprise (though it makes sense with the tone). I love Jasmine's new character arc, and her song, "Speechless," but I think the song feels slightly out-of-tone with the rest of the musical pieces: it's a great piece on its own, but it just doesn't feel the same, musically - I wouldn't be able to tell you why, though. It feels pretty standard for modern empowerment ballads, and it's a solid entry into that genre. And we didn't get nearly enough time with movie Jafar - I really liked the parallelism they were going for, and there was clearly a lot to his backstory that was hinted at. And, you know, Iago as never named... alas!
Will as the genie was a genuine treasure! The fact that he didn't try to be Robin but instead was the best Will genie he could be was the right call, and it just went perfectly. Jasmine's new character arc was much better than the animated film, and the story was far more believable. The Sultan was actually an interesting guy, and I'm sorry we didn't get to spend more time with either him or the captain of the guard (whose name was inexplicably different from the animated film for some reason that might make sense, but I don't know what it is).
Over-all I really liked the live action remake!
(I also maaaaaaayyyyyyyyy be addicted to Will's closing credits variation of Friend Like Me. Don't judge!)

Yeah, I had never seen the original Lost in Space and I thought the remake was pretty good.
It starts out kind of good, but descends into madness over time as the writers (by their own words - this is literally what they said) ran out of ideas... and started having things like sentient vegetables attack the crew. It is far more known for this latter aspect of the show than the earlier, more serious tone, to the point that I (and, I gather, many) didn't even remember (or maybe I never saw) it's serious side!
I certainly don't recall the first season at all.
But the new one was an enjoyable show that played with your expectations the whole time, and in a way that was both reasonable and enjoyable. I really want a season 2, but fear it's been too long for that to happen, leaving us similar to the Lost in Space movie (though that movie was nowhere near as good; I still enjoyed it, but I also enjoyed Hudson Hawk, and that movie is objectively terrible, so, grains of salt).

My work anniversary was a month ago, and I've always gotten a raise at that time. This year, I hadn't seen one on the two paychecks since then, so I left a note for the assistant manager about it. After two days, she texted me to say that I was getting a raise, but she didn't know how much it was, and that it should start on the next paycheck. Maybe I'm an untrusting sort, but I'm thinking that they forgot about it and hadn't actually done the paperwork, and if I hadn't said anything I might have never gotten it.
Mine are retroactive so she hasn't done my eval yet and is about a month late on it but I get all the moneys I would of made had I had it back then in one check. So next check should be nice.

It seems like they are scamming you out of money if they don't... I feel like you need to talk to a lawyer with the stories you tell about your work place.
Also, I wonder if things like ** spoiler omitted ** are the reason why no aliens (if they exist) have made contact. We just creep them out too much.Warning: rather bad language. They seem to be the only two creatures who can successfully reproduce with pretty much anything.

On the sleep-talk, I usually sleep from between 23-01 to between 06-07. Usually depending on how well the little man is sleeping.
I haven't remembered any of my dreams, if I have any, since I had nightmares when I was a wee lad. Potentially a self-defence mechanism, but hard to say for sure. :P

I had night terrors when I was a wee-lad. All I really remember is the abject terror. I don't have nightmare anymore. I always liked that little bit of information (I think its true but haven't found research) that gammers have fewer nightmares because D&D teaches us when the monster comes to get us. we grab our swords or spell book and tear it a new one.
Edit: I kept reading that in the quotes and it sounded awkward so I fixed it.

On planned vs spontaneous, I'm definitely more of a planner. As an old college friend once said, the rules control the fun.
Leaving things semi-unplanned, like going to a place you've never been before, but bringing sufficient supplies so that, if it's not what you expect, you can still have fun, can be good too though.

I even researched night terrors in college and we really still don't know that much about them. Its just one of those weird phenomenons.
I'm virtually fearless now a days. I work to get rid of my one phobia (spiders) all the time with gradual Immersion therapy.

So this is weird.
Getting ready for the big road trip to Oregon with the kids, I bought them a massive set of audiobooks on cd for the car on ebay for a ridiculously cheap price, because it's the one thing guaranteed to keep them mostly calm and happy.
But WW is having me switch cars with him because he thinks taking my old Honda there and back again is just asking for trouble, and at least his Kia is under full warranty.
The snag I didn't expect: the Kia doesn't have a cd player.
But I have the little boom box from their room that plays cds, and WW dug through the garage to find the box of random things he kept in his old van and found a 150 watt AC power inverter. So I'm going to plug the inverter into the cigarette lighter, plug the cord from the boom box into that, and hopefully it will all work out. I'm doing a test run today on our way to the zoo. Hopefully nothing catches fire.
