So, wait, I call SpongeBob SquarePants a national treasure and you're out, but yet didn't leave when [redacted] was [redacted].

You sure about that?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to provide perspective on a rather dramatic statement. Don't get me wrong I HATE Firefly but I'm not leaving the country over it.

My guess is because it's funnier to make a bigger deal out of something as inconsequential as a cartoon being popular than it is a heavy political issue beyond the control of the average citizen.

Bleak reflection on current events is sad.
Exaggerated overreaction to pop cultural ephemera is silly.

Fair enough, I guess it came out sounding stronger than it did in my head.

My apologies Orthos, just ignore that.

How could anyone dislike Spongebob? Who are you, Ultros?

nailed it

"Mweheheh! Don't tease the octopus, kids!"

In seriousness I've never cared for the show. Mostly probably due to overexposure, my dad loves it, combined with just not getting the appeal. It isn't funny to me, it's annoying.

...this is probably the most awkward way to bring up the fact that we're a couple.

1) having known you were a couple and thinking this was not news (under the impression that it was widely known here), it was, with clear intent, a reference to the fact that Freehold had just called you Ultros (though I didn’t know the name thing - cool!); sorry if that wasn’t public - my bad (also, and once again, congratulations! )

2) no, I was just thinking of you giving her a hug and/or maybe a blanket or something; you guys are sick, SICK (*coughs repeatedly, has mild fever*; so am I, though, so... fair)

3) that little girl in the second picture was adorable enough that I felt compelled to share it, even though I couldn’t find the actual “octopus dress” image I was looking for - the one I wanted basically looks like just a really big pink octopus - albeit flat - somehow managing to cover a woman, which probably would be much less confusing about this whole thing

Monopoly has that effect too

I belong to the "Conan-the-Barbarian-meets-Gordon-Gekko" school of Monopoly strategy.

As a consequence, my entire family will no longer play with me.

I've always hated Monopoly.

Risk was my board game of choice as a kid, after awhile no one would play with me.

uno may be where friendships go to die, but risk makes enemies for life. Only Catan is worse for that.

Back when I was a tutor at the high school tutoring center, the head tutor told us to just write our own hall passes and he'd sign them. Mine typically said things like, "NobodysHome has permission to roam the halls at random for an indefinite period, running and screaming as he sees fit, setting fires, destroying property, and otherwise fomenting anarchy."

He'd always sign them.

And only once did a teacher ever actually read it, and of course it was the biggest stick-up-your-butt teacher in the entire school (also infamous for her skin-tight, zip-up-the-back polyester pants she wore every day), and she got very upset and the head tutor had to apologize. Once she was gone, he admitted that it was pretty darned funny.

She's also the teacher who gave my friend detention after he had graduated.

He was dropping by the tutoring center to take care of some paperwork, she pounced out of her classroom (during her off period she'd sit there like a trapdoor spider and pounce on unsuspecting students) and demanded his hall pass, he admitted he didn't have one, and so she gave him detention. He dutifully went down to the detention center and sat down. The vice principal, recognizing him, said, "What the heck are YOU doing here?!?!? You graduated!"
"Ms. xxx gave me detention."
(Exasperated sigh) "Get the heck out of here!"

We have both. The written passes are "Sorry Little Susy was late to history. I was making her finish a test" things. I've also got some woodcut owls for actual "Can I go to the bathroom during class?" pass needs. The paper passes are not intended to be returned to the classroom.

Turns out she DID NOT GET that everyone died. She thought that the big blast of light at the end with Jyn and Cassian on the beach was just a fancy editing transition and they lived happily ever after.
Y'know to foment anarchy again.

If for whatever reason she can ever make it thru Pan's Labyrinth, I'd be curious what she thinks of the ending.

Spoiler:
I think it's clear by the end that Ofelia becomes Princessa Moanna and joins her parents in the faerie realm, but in the director's commentary, Del Toro is 100% ambiguous about it.

Spoiler:
Also, Infinity War on netflix!!! Never saw it in the theater.
