I'm familiar with the elephant one and I'm just not going to click a link entitled cat poop.

And that is the nekkid truth

The Exchange

I'm surprised that you know the elephant poop one, since it was cat poop that came first, then elephant poop was sort of the copy cat that came after.

Uh, that didn't quite work out right, did it?

I think I saw the elephant one cause I was reading an article about how they are making paper with elephant poop. I think it was mentioned as some other products made by that material.

I think I did actually hear about the other one in a movie. now that I think about it. can't remember name of movie but it has both Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson in it.

The Exchange

The Bucket List.

Sorry, I cheated and googled. Not sure how such a somber subject can still be a classified as a comedy though. Maybe I need to watch it.

It just occurred to me that:

Online social media functions much like a Ouija board...except as used by millions of people simultaneously, most of whom hate each other, know nothing of substance about each other, and in very nearly as many cases, don't even know how to properly use a Ouija board.

I have very little experience with Ouija boards so I had to really think about this one. Also I like to think all the ghosts hate each other too.

The Exchange

I honestly wouldn't touch an Ouija board. In my culture if you ask the dead for something, you'd better pay it back or they'd come to haunt you. Also applies if you didn't pay them enough...

And it's not as if ghosts have asking rates.

To say online social media everyone hates each other I feel it's untrue. Mostly indifferent to each other would be closer to the truth. If you hated those people on your Facebook page that much, well there have been celebrities deleting their face book accounts.

Collective indifference... I think that's not a terrible way to put it.

Wheres Carl Jung when I need him... oh right I would need the Ouija board for that.

I think Twitter has to be the worst, though; it's like a combination megaphone/particle accelerator for all the worst pitfalls of ordinary human psychology.

The weird glitch I've been having is when I try to go to the next page or click any of the number links to page it always just takes me back to page 1.

If you're on any online social media that pisses you off, my advice to you is just delete your account and quit it. There are more important things to do in life then get frustrated with internet arguments. I am personally not on any online social media, with the exception of this, which also counts in a way.

My fix for facebook is to unfriend and block people that piss me off. (usually too much politics) Its gave me some hard fast choices sometimes but I'm ok with it in the long run. I use it as a instant messenger to my friends mostly. I used to play games on it but I put to much time into one game and they removed it so I said never again.

The trouble is that it's poisoned everything, even for those of us who've managed to avoid it. I've tried to avoid stuff I knew was not worth getting into, and it gets shoved down my throat anyway, even in venues where it doesn't make sense for it to be mandatory, but somehow has become such!

As for quitting rancid places, I've done that multiple times...but how much good is that when you've got extreme OCD (or something much worse that not one shrink in the entire state you reside in can even identify) turns every distressing and confusing argument into trauma that never, ever goes awaye???

You see I think I've seen something like a stroopwafel before that you were supposed to put ontop of hot coffee to heat it up before eating. It might have been a stroopwafel, it might have not. But I'm not sure at the end of the day. I didn't try it because of the price tag, and besides I'm all about trying to cut down sweet stuff because I'm TRYING to lose weight :P

Oh my...Lord Synos...we posted at almost the same time...but it seems that what I saw might have been a stroopwafel, just that I didn't know it was at that time.

You need to distract yourself in those phases. Get off the net, go out, and seriously just enjoy the great outdoors. If you can't get it out of your mind, just run around your neighbourhood until you start getting flat. People on the net SIMPLY DO NOT CARE.

And if they don't care about you, why should you even care about what they think about you? They're not worth your effort.

And at the end of the day it's you who have to bear the shrink's bills.

I literally had to pull myself away from my failed Strange Aeons PBP, because all those comments really pissed me off. It's hard, but in this world people aren't going to care about you, so you need to take care of yourself.

"People aren't going to care about you, so you need to take care of yourself." sadder and truer words are rarely spoken. That sadly is just not on the internet.

Lord Synos. I make a mean orange cake (I actually sold one for $ 15^^ - I'm not sure how heavy it actually weighed I'd guess around 1 kg). And a decent banana cake. I'm still working on that chocolate cake...so the word cake and not available doesn't ring any bells in my head =)

Even if there were NO shops selling cakes, I'd just bake my own...it doesn't really take very long, maybe 3 hours of work, including baking time?

"People aren't going to care about you, so you need to take care of yourself."

Devil's Advocate:
I've always taken issue with this phrase, mostly because I find it to be false, and partially because it clashes with what I find to be human.

Saying people aren't going to care about you is saying you care about no one else, or otherwise it falls flat (if you care about someone else, that means people care about people other than themselves). And I'd feel sorry for the person who does care about no one, cause I can't imagine anything more lonely.

I try to care about a lot of people, because they're important to me, or because I think they're good people, or because they're going through a hard time and I just think they need someone to. And I think if we all cared just a little more day-to-day, we'd outweigh those who really don't.

Secondly, we're social animals, and society is built on the principal that no one person can do it alone, so we all need to work together. If everyone just took care of themselves, society would fall apart. I mean, just look at current affairs. :P

Not that there's anything wrong with taking care of yourself, everyone should. Just don't buy into the mindset that we are all islands, adrift and in competition with each other. People do care, and you're not alone.

And I'll leave that at that before I get myself in trouble with the FaWtL police. :P

The more serious answer is that it probably depends on what kind of environment you come from. And perhaps even your personality type. I suspect you're an idealist(like Freehold), but I'm a realist.

Asian culture isn't that much onto displays of affection and all that, and we don't really have the thing about being nice to strangers. In fact pretty much your parents will tell you don't talk to strangers, so we aren't really friendly to random strangers and will mostly mind our own business.

And since children are what they live...

I know my banana cake tends to be a bit wet since I opted to use bananas instead of any kind of flavouring, and bananas add water content to the cake.

The problem here is that cons tend to be held in rather out of the way places(land is a premium), where the nearest food area is some distance away. And back then we'd be trying to squeeze 3 games/day so lunch break would be about 45 min since the first slot would be 8-12 noon, then second slot 1pm-5pm, last slot 6pm-10pm. Lol. So it'd just be fast food and I'm too old for that.

Down here we're not very much into call and order. I did suggest stuff like food panda and deliveroo for PaizoCon, but apparently its that chaotic that people can't get their stuff delivered to them.

Good point. I clearly wasn't thinking. My dad has those workboots with steel caps on them. Stomping(at least the last time I tried) on them didn't do anything, except hurt my paw.
