Are you allowed to use Chaos to Purge Chaos?
Oh, surely! Chaos being so handily mutable and fluid, its devotees can shift it elsewhere.
Besides, we can't have our Lawful Kitten mired in an existential crisis, now, can we?
And I scored 1000 boxes of White Cheddar Cheez-its! Had to be done.

And atoning while undressed is . . . . well, fitting. :D

You can use fire to fight fire.
Backfire: a fire started deliberately to stop the progress of an approaching fire by creating a burned area in its path.
Of course, sometimes backfires backfire, forgive the bad pun.
And had I not been ninjaed by a real ninja, we would get a naked kitty 3 pages in a row due to flames burning off clothes.

I think my favorite thing mort does (except maybe post recipes) is kill grans jokes. That was a vicious joke slaying!

I thought my avatar pic was "Counterfeit Mage"?? Have I been failing in my fakery all this time?!
I dunno, you look like a Ninja to me.
Also going to the food fair!

@Mort
Oh...
The dorm I lived in had a few other women living there. They just wasn't there when she moved in. In the years I lived there, I think that there where on average 6-7 men and 3-4 women in the dorm.
And why would your parents be hesitant?
We were on our best behaviour all through out them help her move in back then... ^^
Uhhh...
I really want to experience your DM'ing Kitty, its just that the I don't really know if I can make work time-wise (time-zone-wise might be more accurate). The rest though, I think we could work out (even if I, like Gran prefer in-person gaming - and would love to make room for your teensy voice). You seem like so sweet and passionate, if a little rigid, kitty!
So while I'm tempted to offer up my name for your recruitment drive Kitty, but I think I'll pass for now.

It's the rose among the thorns kind of thing.
And true that I bet for timezones and our timezones aren't fully compatible. If you can post at work then it could still work out, then we post spree from 3pm till I go to bed around 11pm.
You might not even be able to understand me in person because... Accent. In PBPs I don't feel self conscious about that.

Apparently, Memorial Day is the day everyone talks loudly on the phone on their back decks, the General included.
I wouldn't have noticed but I have every window open and sound is carrying like a son of a b#*@! today.
Also, we might hit 100 degrees today (our high is 97, but they've been predicting on the low side this year).

I quite honestly don't know how PbP works, especially for GMs.

*Picks up Mort, and give her a hug and a vigorous fur-fluffing*
I wouldn't want Kitty to feel too self-conscious. Mort should feel fine being the kitty she is ^^
I guess, I'm trying to say that an accent is something most of us are burdened with when we speak anything other then our native tongue.
Though how could you have a too thick accent? I mean does meow, mao or miau really sound that different?
...
...
*Cricket sounds*
Yea, that joke died before it was fully forced in my head :P
...
Don't really know where I'm going with this.
Feeling a bit moody and weepy today.
Stupid emotions/depression.
*Gives Mort a quick hugging squeeze, before letting her go to do her Kitty things*

You can never hear your own accent because you're so used to it. You become self conscious about it when people start asking you multiple times, sorry I don't get what you're saying?
The sad thing? My native tongue is English. Believe me, I speak far better English then Chinese.
*nuzzles Kjeldorn*
*Maaaaoooooo*
Would you want to talk about it? It might make you feel better.
Again if you don't, I respect your need for privacy.
The basket calls!

On Ohioian Accents
For the record, I blame West Virginia.
Edit: also for the record, I fall into the southeastern Ohio thing, which means that other than mergers I don't have to much of an accent, most of what seems like an accent is my tone of voice and whatnot. (I know this due to people constantly asking if my brother was trying to sound British, which he doesn't and isn't)

Hi said that you didn't have much of an accent, but you spoke so fast he had trouble understanding.
In my experience, U.S.-spoken English is one of the slowest-spoken languages on the planet. Slow it down by another 50% and you have our Southern drawl.
But native French, Spanish, and German speakers sound like machine gun fire to our relatively slow-tempo, relaxed conversations. So I really wouldn't be surprised that the influence of Chinese on Singaporan English made you speak it much more quickly than your Western Hemisphere counterparts...
...what's funny is that Indians learned English from the Brits, so they have the tempo about right for us 'Mericans.

The Game Hamster |

I think we speak slower because our language is more tone, and context related than other languages which have tense and meaning built into the verbs and stuff.
Just a hunch, but... it's the best I've got. It's very easy to pull the wrong conclusions from a sentence spoken to fast, or to misunderstand the nature of sarcasm from writing it.

I speak fast because I am from Brooklyn.

Orthos wrote:"Okay, slow down and start over, I only caught about a third of that" is extremely common parlance in any conversation I have with Scint. That's because Discord is butt.
It happened on Skype too, just not as often and more directly attributable to you talking so fast rather than the program cutting out the most important parts of the sentence :P

I'm not sure if this counts as an accent, but most of the time I speak in an incredibly quiet and annoying monotone. On my better days, voice-wise, I've been told I sound more like a soothing audiobook guy.
A month or so ago, I was GMing a Starfinder scenario for my normal group. As I was giving them the box text, one whipped out his computer, opened MS Paint, and drew a picture. I thought it was funny as hell, and made it my Google icon. It takes something great to replace my cat's perfect visage.

Since I doubt you've read the previous 193,093 posts, here's
Every morning, this beautiful young woman came to class in her pajamas, with her pillow, then carefully arranged her pillow on her desk, put her head down, and went to sleep. I was the sort of teacher who felt that anything that wasn't distracting or disruptive to the rest of the class wasn't an issue, so, since her PJs were quite modest (pink flannel, I believe), I didn't make an issue of it.
Needless to say, 6 weeks into the semester she was at a dead F with an overall grade of 15%. One morning I took her aside. "So, it's obvious this class is too early for you, so why don't you go ahead and drop it? I'll sign a late drop slip for you, and it won't even show up on your transcript. It's not like you're going to pass anyway, and this'll protect your GPA."
"Oh, no. I find your voice very soothing. Besides, I may learn something by osmosis."
And so, she continued showing up at my class every single morning, going to sleep, and ended up having the best overall attendance in the course. Of course, she flunked horrifically, but the next semester she repeated the class at 11:00 am with a different teacher and ended up with a B+, so I guess maybe there was something to that whole "osmosis" thing.

![]() |

That's one way to do it, I guess. Not sure I'd trade some of my GPA for sleep therapy, but given my own choices (especially around that phase) I shouldn't judge.
I wouldn't call what I do osmosis; though it sure wasn't study. Still, I think some people can do that. Too bad it's a bit hard to prove.
I think perception of my voice fluctuates based on who I'm around. There's people I don't know well, from whom I get appraisals like, "Wow, Crunch, you have such a calm tone. You should be a commentator, or speaker." Then, you've got my group of Pathfinder friends and my stepfather (though I haven't had to interact with him for a bit). From them I get, "Come on, Crunch (the former actually call me that), why can't you talk like a normal person?"

I was born in Charleston WV, so I actually just find the whole Ohio Vs. WV joke thing funny, and reference it as often as I can.
I think my favorite is "West Virginia is ALMOST heaven, 'cause it's right next to Ohio."
