So, being an ex-punker and Tae Kwon Do enthusiast, I loved loved LOVED my steel-toed motorcycle boots.
Unfortunately:
(1) They were really impractical for day-to-day wear, even though I wore them anyway, and
(2) They really weren't built to last.So as part of our Halloween budget, I snuck in these. I was really worried, as I'm normally a 9.5 4E, but they only went to 2E so I got a 10.5 2E. But I have them on now, and they're sooooooooo comfy! And I want to kick things!
Hey, Impus Major!
Hmmm... Conversion chart says it might be a bit above my size, US 9.5-10 would be more like it...
No idea what 2/4E is, though. Maybe that would be difference making regular boot lengths terribly unreliable for me?

Jehovah's Witnesses don't celebrate Halloween. I guess they don't like it when random strangers come to their house.
I had a jehovahs witness visit my house once apparently he was afraid of cats. Our cat was rubbing up against his leg wanting some petting and he asked me if I could do something about the cat because he is afraid of them (which explained why he was shaking so much.) So I pick the cat up to it would leave him alone and he couldn't even look my directions he handed me a brochure then and left quickly. was such a weird expereince.

So, you're saying my three cats are why I only ever got a letter from them?

I doubt every jehovahs witness is deathly afraid of cats but you never know

I had a jehovah's witness stop by during butchering season.
According to the sheriff that talked to my dad afterwards, i probably shouldn't have answered the door covered in blood, holding a bloody knife and encouraging them to come inside for a discussion.
afterwards, Dad gave me an encouraging squeeze of the shoulder and said "good job!"

My Mother-in-law's response to all door-to-door evangelicals is to invite them in, quite graciously, for a cup of tea.
And then she talks to them. And talks.
And talks.
And maybe even reads them some of her poetry.
And sounds genuinely disappointed when she says they don't come back.
She was quite affronted when I suggested that she did it on purpose; she called it "proper southern hospitality".
I wisely kept my mouth shut at that point.

My dad being a high school chemistry teacher, Quaker minister, amateur paranormal investigator, and once tried to become a Buddhist monk (he talked too much) is also all too eager to talk to them.
I always liked their expressions as soon as they realized the depth of the conversation they found themselves locked into.

Well, she's not wrong...
XD
As the "only Yankee in the family", as my husband's grandmother once put it (she also used to refer to me as "that little Yankee gal". Since I'm 5'8", the "little" was meant dismissively)...
Well, let's just say I have a different opinion of what "proper Southern hospitality" means than they do.

Since I know some of you work/have worked in finance or related areas, here's a really weird question for you:
So, color me worried. Why on Earth would someone buy a paid-off mortgage?
Anyone here have any ideas?
EDIT: And yes, I'm contacting my credit union and a lawyer with the same question, but I honestly expect FaWtL to give me a faster, better answer.

OK. Free plug for Provident Credit Union: I sent them a private message 2 hours ago asking, "WTF?"
One of their loan reps personally called me at home just now to reassure me that it's just paperwork from my refi in May of this year. Yes, they're supposed to do it within 90 days. No, they didn't. But it's absolutely standard, I have nothing to worry about, and I'm a smarty every day for calling. (OK, maybe I made up that last bit.)
But geez, is it nice to have a credit union that actually CALLS YOU when you have a question!

Okay, so it's more than halfway through October and I don't have a story idea for NaNoWriMo this year yet....
Suggestions? Crazy is fine. Crazy is good even. Any ideas you can toss my way. Otherwise I'm going to make a table and roll randomly to put story elements together.....
It's been a stressful couple of months because of various things, which isn't the best for getting the creative juices flowing. I know I can do it once I have an idea to begin with, but I just haven't had the brain space to really focus on being creative lately.

On the plus side, the kidlet is doing much better now. We had to take him back to urgent care (again) on Sunday, and this time he had a sinus infection. A couple days of antibiotics later and he's much improved. He didn't even have an asthma attack yesterday. Which is one day in a row. So that's a start.

the adventures of an internet man with a self driving, semi intelligent prius who goes around solving problems people complain about in a certain online forum under the cover of darkness who leaves knitting and crocheting materials as his calling card.
