In Spain when something is uncommon we say it is «like the snow of May».
Here we are having annoying weather too. Today it's rainy and windy but yesterday was sunny and hot. The day before was foggy until noon. I'm searching like mad for the high level druid who thinks that toying with weather is funny.
Maybe it's a witch. There are too many witches here xD

The singing birds wake me up all days. It makes me wake up with more energy.
I don't remember seeing snow in may in all my life. First days of April is probably the later snow I've ever seen. It used to snow all years in Lugo, but with the climatic change the weather is dried and hotter now.
10 years ago it was rainy 9 months of the year and now it barely rains. Galicia was famous for being rainy all the year but the weather is much different now.

Last field trip I went on this kid almost made it the shore of a pond unattended and this other parent stopped him from experiencing something by himself and so then when his dad rushed over the other dad said "didn't mean to helicopter your son bro!" "No thanks bro! Someone has to!"
Meanwhile, Tiny T-Rex and another kid found a crayfish, by themselves.
Yeah, the last time I saw a crayfish in Berkeley, a bunch of parents were freaking out and telling their children not to go near the creek because there was a giant scorpion in the water.
Of course, in Richmond, where I actually live, more folks would know exactly what it was and what to do with it.

So, last night we went to the <Unknown Band>/BattleBeast/Sabaton concert in the city with Impus Minor.
Nothing like going to a metal concert in the Bay Area to feel better about yourself. I swear, the number of flabby, out-of-shape thirtysomethings still trying to be "cool" by bragging about other concerts they'd been to, wearing all black, etc. was downright amusing.
I swear I wanted to beat up 90% of the crowd and take their lunch money.
It really had no resemblance whatsoever to any metal/punk venues I attended in the 1980's.
On the other hand, I was not afraid of being knifed, nor did I leave with any bruises, cuts, or contusions, so I guess that's a good thing.
But when you're pushing 50, overweight, and 30 years out of shape and you're looking at the mosh pit and thinking, "Gods, what a tame bunch of <derogatory term>", it's really not much of a "metal" concert.
Favorite line of the night: One band saying, "We are all one big happy worldwide metal family!"
"Metal" and "Family" in the same sentence? Hmm...
EDIT: On the other hand, getting only 4 hours of sleep while pushing 50 is less fun than it used to be...
EDIT 2: I should clarify: I did not begrudge the flabby, out-of-shape people who ran around with their shirts off, howling at the top of their lungs and enthusiastically cheering on the bands. But there was an alarming number of people who stood in the back staring at their iPhones through the whole concert, never once looking up at the stage, clapping, or cheering, who would then run a single lap around the outskirts of the mosh pit, arms folded across their chests and heads down, carefully avoiding any physical contact whatsoever, who would then brag about "being in the pit" to their similarly-distracted friends.

I think Sabaton is going to be at the Resurrektion Fest this summer. So bad I am not going this year.
Oh, Sabaton was absolutely awesome in concert! The lead singer couldn't get over how enthusiastic and loud the crowd of 1300 was on a Wednesday night, so he kept breaking up into giggles.
Nothing like the mohawked frontman of a metal band with an amazingly gravely voice who just can't stop grinning like a maniac. The crowd kept chanting "Sa-ba-ton! Sa-ba-ton!" between every single frigging song, to the point that at one point he roared, "SILENCE!!!!!", the crowd went silent, and then he just started giggling and took a moment to compose himself.
Really one of the better shows I've seen in many a year. Not a lot of flash, but both BattleBeast and Sabaton have charisma to spare...

Nordic countries have the best metal all the year! In Spain we just have latin music and cloned pop artists. Let us enjoy a bit good old metal just for one time of the year! ;-D

Er... you *DO* know that BattleBeast is from Finland and Sabaton is from Sweden, right?

Boil it in lightly salted water and serve with melted butter. :)
Edit: Still getting used to this new keyboard. :)

What level of degree did you obtain? Give me some letters, man!
And not "T.O.Z.!"

Captain Yesterday's eye twitches, ever so slightly.
Does it help that Impus Major saw it by the time he was 5?
Probably not, since he also came with us into Halloween stores with the animatronic screaming skeletons and zombies and just gave them looks when they tried to scare him.
"The sarcasm readings on that boy are off the scale!"

You get those every day. :P
I earned a B.S. in I.T., and the hangings are the standard graduation stole as well as my veterans stole for my Army service. Once the photos come through, I'll post better pics.
Couldn't quite get the reference right, but it was still good.

I was really particular about what I let the kidlet watch before he was like seven or so. He was one of those really anxious kids who are scared of literally everything. Like he couldn't even do trick or treating at Halloween cause the decorations were too scary. And then we started slowly watching scarier and scarier stuff. Monster movies actually helped him get over being scared of everything. Not sure why, but hey, I'll take it.

A couple of weeks ago, we finally found a tv show that the whole family likes. A lot. Every single one of us.
Gods help us when we run out of eps, it's a long-running but ended show. We'll be back to alternating between predictable insipid kid movies and "Live action is boring, nothing kool happens...I won't like that one, I know it...why do we have to watch a movie, mom?...can I play on the computer?...I want to watch Angry Birds..."

Eldest is about to do his violin concert!
Crushed it!
(Well, as much as a five year old can "crush" playing the violin! :D)
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!
What piece(s) is he playing?
He played two: Can-can and (after other classes had played theirs), the highlight of the show: Star Wars Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star! (Also the older kids played Star Wars Main Theme immediately after.) The coolest part about the last (two) song(s) is that they were performed entirely in the dark: all the lights were turned off! ... aaaaaand the students each had a glowing colored wire wrapped around their bows - creating the illusion of lightsabers "light savers"*...!
* I suspect that, just maybe, a bit, the teacher wasn't really a Star Wars fan... she's really sweet, though!

Bob's Burgers is that show for us.
