Close (sort of) but no cigar, Longears.

EDIT: That's not a cigar, despite appearances.

Now put it away

I would like to play L5R again. I believe it was the most fun I've had as a player in...well, years, really.

I survived six hours at a Con with a four and a six year old and no money! And no one had a meltdown!
My daughter was in heaven because she looked so good that people kept asking for pictures with her.
And she got to meet Gates McFadden. Who was ridiculously warm and sweet to her.
Oh, and the local quidditch league team had a "try quidditch" booth and she got to give it a go.
Very, very happy little girl.

Speaking as a volunteer for a convention (Tekko) myself, I'm glad your kids had fun. Simply knowing that I helped make possible someone else's good convention memories makes me keep volunteering. That, plus being a responsible GM with players that expect me to be there. :)

Watching a video, and they are discussing the difference between Gothic Horror and Gothic Terror. The explanation given is that in Gothic Horror it appears that everything can be explained by science and reason, but in the end it turns out to be supernatural. Gothic Terror, on the hand, makes you think the supernatural is involved, but it turns out that everything was being done by normal people. So the examples he gives are Indiana Jones for Horror, and Scooby Doo for Terror.

I went to bed an hour earlier than I usually do on the weekend. "Get some extra sleep" I said to myself.

Naturally, I woke up an hour earlier than I usually do on the weekend.

I know how is that. If I go to bed early I wake up earlier. If I go to bed late I wake up early anyway.

Is that why Indiana Jones and Scooby Doo Solve The Mystery Of King Tut's Tomb was banned in the U.S.

Gothic Terror Horror was too much for your average American psyche.

Cool to see some good female armor instead of fantasy styled skimpy female armor (not that I'm against that one from time to time either).

Well, it's official: In two Bay Area counties, six-figure incomes are now considered "low income".

And you wonder why I call it stupid around here.

The General (to Tiny T-Rex): Do you want a ham sandwich?

Tiny T-Rex: Um, no, Peanut butter and nutella.

The General (already having tomatoes cut and lettuce washed, and mindful of the amount of candy kids have eaten lately): But ham is so much healthier.

Tiny T-Rex (always willing to compromise): okay, ham and peanut butter.

How to get me to reinstall the garden patio in one step.

1. Start working in the garden. Captain Yesterday will follow.

Now I just need to go get another 1/2 cubic yard and the job will (mostly) be done.

The pebble mosaic between the big stones will be tackled after school this week.

Assuming it doesn't snow (glares at weather report).

At the hardware store garden centre with the kids so the General can have some time to write.

Naturally, they're somewhere in the rafters.

Holy carp, it was so much better than I thought! I nearly cried at a friggin' Highschool musical! So did my dad! Dang it!

Tomorrow I chaperone a field trip for Tiny T-Rex's class (they're all hovercraft parents, so parents might actually outnumber kids, so no medal needed).

It's at the university nature center, with prairies and everything.

Of course, who used to regularly volunteer for prairie restoration. :-)

If a tree falls in a forest, and no one is there to see it, does it really fall?

I've been called again to job in the last moment. I love getting this calls as more work means some money and more points for being higher on the lists but I hate receiving them so late. I've already had to cancel gaming sessions because of it.
