I will not allow myself to be upstaged by a terrible musician just because he's naked!

someone translated 'eorl' as 'knight' and I'm like -->
I hate these kinds of translations!!
It's not quite as bad as translating 'meodosetl' as citadel or castle, but still.

We had a human waiter at Olive Garden. Still not particularly happy with the experience. Then again, it's Italian food in San Francisco. You really shouldn't expect any sort of quality. I ride through our "Italian enclave" on the way from work, and it doesn't even have any Italians. Just a few restaurants and Italian flags on the lightposts.

Good news is that I will be getting 3 hours of overtime tonight. Bad news is that one of my coworkers was in a car accident yesterday and will be out of work for a few days. He was banged up and got a knock on the head but from what my manager said he should be ok. ~sighs~ I will be so tired by 10 am. 11 pm to 10 am shift today and maybe tomorrow. yay.

Lots. I'm not sure there is a DragonBall uncensored manga, but I know there is an uncensored anime run out there that GOOD OLD VIZ! is overcharging for.
Looking back, DragonBall was pretty perverted and slapstick comedy until the fighting elements took over. It's weird hanging out with the DragonBall fans vs the z fans. Gt tried, but couldn't quite recapture the hilarity beyond the really poorly worded wish from goku's first villain(I cannot BELIEVE a trio THAT INCOMPETENT is still alive, but they did a damn good job with them).

Idk if this is just me having read too much manga, but the idea of "sealing"/"attacking" with pieces of spiritually imbued text (a la ofuda) makes such an inherent amount of sense to me that it appears in my legendarium. (runic inscriptions on birch bark or something similar)
Actually reading about ofuda as it is used in real life makes me feel more secure about my portrayal of sīdsa/seiðr and runes in my work. Since in real life ofuda has no combat function, and seiðr has no combat function either, it is no surprise that sīdsa becomes "magical dancey spindle fighting" in my comic.
And the choreography of sīdsa might be inspired too much by the sending in FFX... augh.

Dragonball Z? Isn't that the anime where they spend half the episode groaning and moaning, most of the other half posturing and making grandiose declarations, and a couple minutes to throw a couple combat moves dragging a simple fight over multiple episodes?
~shocked look~ You mean to tell me that there is actual fighting going on in DBZ? Since when?

the idea appears in most cultures/religions with written language.

So, a few pages back we were discussing the Olive Garden, and it happens I went there this evening. Food was decent.

I'll tell ya the problem, it's these g~#$&&n kids of today with their g!~%&!n faces buried in their g%!#**n fancy phones and such, back in my day I would have gotten a hickory switch across my ass for even thinkin about not payin attention to my parents.

I am pretty sure that runes can have a potent combat power. The catch is that instead of birch bark you need to use stone. You draw a rune on a stone and then smash your opponent with the rune.

Now that I finally read the guide to PbP playing I want to give it a try, but a story-light one shot adventure sort of thing. How do I find one?
Try here, PbP can be a really excellent experience if you find the right group. Unfortunately most games fizzle out.

Heloooo FaWTL!
So, today some serious carnage may go on in the Avalon PbP! And it all started with some boys throwing food at some firebirds...
In other news, I'm prepping for my first homebrew module-which, weirdly enough, I'm not freaking out about-for a party with no arcane casters.
I'm here to ask for advice! (This is for 5e, and I know I should post this in the Advice forum, buuuut... I'm lazy, and FaWTL will get me a quicker response :P)
The premise is that a cleric of Death has unleashed a magical... not plague exactly, but more like a viral curse, that saps the strength from people and puts it into their shadows, eventually making their shadows become independent and malevolent when they die. Simple investigation, right? But the problem is, the Dawn Tournament-which is basically a way for rookie adventurers to get famous-is taking place while this is happening, and the characters have to both compete in there while trying to find out the source of the problem.
I have a few details, but not enough: to find a way to combat the plague, the characters must escort a prominent sage to an ancient library that is infested with demons, undead, and unnatural abominations. During the CTF round of the tournament, the villain will unleash a horde of zombies and skeletons onto the battleground that will pose a threat to all the teams and indeed the city, but will have to convince the other teams to put aside their lust for victory in favor of combatting the army.
Any other ideas?

That sounds like Hrūt's sort of approach.
(no really she just either punches or hammers people really hard, and opts for wrestling if she can't accomplish either. Not that she's stupid, being a prodigy at the game tæfl, she's just pragmatic and straightforward.)
