So I got my hair chopped off this week. It was a bit traumatic for me. I really like long hair, but mine had started to look like it belonged to a Barbie that had been played with for too long. So haircut. It's not too bad, but I was pretty upset on the first day because my hairdresser styled it weird. It was like I went from Barbie hair to Lego hair. And now it's pretty much just run totally wild. I'm trying to convince myself that I don't hate it and that curls are cute. I do not adjust to change well. :)

Honestly, I think it looks quite good. I consider the curls "lively" rather than "wild". Paraphrasing Dot Warner: I like it. I have no taste. But I like it.

And you can get in line behind Treppa to smack me. I'm very popular that way...

Lol. Thanks. :)

I like to compliment people when I think they look particularly good or stylish. It brightens their day, and I get a smile in return. I really do think the haircut looks quite good.

Unfortunately, I wander around in my Chefwear (today is mushrooms!) and many react with, "Uh oh. If THAT guy thinks I look good, there must be something wrong!"
I figure I sacrificed dignity for comfort decades ago, but I still know what I think looks good or stylish on other people, and most people agree I have a keen eye... and terrible, terrible fashion sense.

On the other hand, my father was a physics professor, and once received a rating of 0 (on a scale of 1 to 10) in "Sartorial Splendor", so I think it runs in the family.

(And yes, I believe the student wrote that in, and it wasn't really an evaluated category in his review...)

EDIT: And yes, just for Lynora, for the first time in my life, I tried to take a selfie and post it for her to show off my mushroom pants. Epic fail. I am so old...

I tried taking a selfie, once.

The problem is, from that angle they always look like landscaping.

I had to learn how to take selfies because my husband is epically bad at taking photos. So it was selfies or be mysteriously absent from all the photo albums. :P

Yeah, try taking a selfie of your pants and posting them to a public forum without getting arrested...

The album my wife put together is truly breathtaking...
...and I don't think there's a single picture of ME in the entire thing...

I like landscape photography. Forests, mountains and rivers are my favorite photographic subjects.

Viking stuff makes great photographic subjects as well, but I say that for the sake of vikings rather than for the sake of photography.

I have been wearing T-shirts and jeans trousers for that long. Thought in the last few years I started wearing jeans shorts (honestly jeans trousers with legs cut in the middle of thighs) around house, and this year I left home a few times in the middle of the worst heat waves wearing them.

Why should I make those selfies anyway? If someone wants my photo s/he can come and take it oneself (or not, I might not want that person to have my photo).

A woman wanted my photo once.

For a website of a rpg game project that as far as I know slowly fell apart because people involved (other than me) had actual lives.

It was quite interesting, because I was approached at gaming convention by that bunch of folks and they asked me to join them to participate in the project.

And it was before I even started publishing things. They just liked my lectures on gaming conventions (I am not sure how many they were too - two? three?).

Lol!

Edit: I just figured with so many New Yorkers here someone would know why cell phones are such a hot crime item there.

So you're saying there are at least half a dozen big busted women from New York City selling cell phones in Madison?

Maybe it's a convention...

I like it and think it is cute. :) But I'm not sure my opinion is useful, as I think Furiosa's hairstyle is looking reallllllllllly tempting.

Shaving my head is something that has never tempted me. But that's probably because I know that my weird shaped skull would not look good without hair to disguise the slope. :P

But if you've got the head shape to pull it off, it can be darn sexy. :)
And thanks. I'm pretty sure I'm just having trouble adjusting to new things. but a little extra validation does not hurt. ^.^

Oh no, 6 women from New York City ("you can just say New York") have come to Madison and been separately arrested stealing dozens of of cell phones, or using stolen identities to open up accounts with multiple lines at cell phone stores.

The thing is, they've all been using the same five stores on the East side who've become wise to the scam. Granted it's hilarious to read on the news website, I'm just wondering, why Wisconsin, there's like 5 much more gullible states they go thru, or why not drive the extra 100 miles and hit the Iowan pig farmers.

how odd.

I doubt any of them are from New York in truth.

Ugh. Button-down shirt. The only one I wear is the one with snap fasteners instead of buttons.

Oh, and it happens to be denim.

I don't like regular button-down shirts. They tend to be unpleasant in touch to my skin, unlike the (mostly) cotton T-shirts. At least when I was still wearing button-down shirts they weren't made of cotton or at least the cotton ones weren't easily accessible. Had the manufacturers started making cotton button-down shirts?

Button-down shirts are pretty much all I own, except a few T-shirts I only wear for sleeping in.

Pumpkin is my favorite flavor and has been for years, closely followed by hazelnut. Ooh, there's an idea. I have a gluten free pumpkin muffin recipe I want to try and I bet it will taste even better if I add in some hazelnuts.
Now if the weather would just get the message that summer is over now, kthanksbai, so I can get on with enjoying fall. :)

my wife makes a pumpkin soup that is amazing.

My first tech job was button-down shirt, slacks, and tie. The polyester/rayon slacks weren't TOO bad because they were pretty lightweight. The shirts were all polyester microfiber; not too uncomfortable, but ungodly hot. And I'm a man who considers 65 degrees to be "getting on the uncomfortably warm side". On the bright side, they've lasted all these years, so I've saved a ton on wardrobe.

Checking my top-of-the-line, "You're meeting one of their execs" shirts, they're cotton-poly blends.

Of course, we all know I'm part yeti, so I HATE wearing them unless I absolutely have to. And even then, I try to get away with rolling up the sleeves for that "working professional" look.

In a completely separate tirade, my company just mandated that we take the week of December 25 off, using our own vacation days. This is usually the sign of a desperate, failing company. Our company has routinely surpassed analyst expectations for the last few years, so there's no reason to do it other than to undermine employee morale.

Is it really that unusual? It hasn't been that way at every company I've worked at, but schools and manufacturing companies usually do that. Some companies take advantage of the time to shut down operations and do significant maintenance then, or EOY processing while everything else is idle.

*shrugs*

I dunno.

it isn't the way things are done around here. I am sure there would be a massive walkout if it was. Company days off are on the company. Anything else comes out of one own time.

Now I just have to navigate the whole activation thing and then I can finally be rid of the phone that only works intermittently when it feels like it maybe! ^.^

Edit: which looks like it won't be for a while. Probably not until tomorrow. Because shared accounts are a pain in the patootie when you want to do things and you're not listed as the primary account holder. :/
