Ahahahahahahaha

i've been attempting to put together the starting conditions for a thought experiment in which one ordinary person is dumped into an alternate world where the genus homo never developed, with absolutely nothing but the entire body of modern knowledge at their disposal.

This has meant that I try to determine if agriculture has had a significant impact on climate change over time since the neolithic (Ruddiman's early anthropocene hypothesis), and if it has, make up for the difference.

Try watching Connections, very first episode.

Sounds pretty neat. Thanks for the recommend.

I tried out the Star Trek RPG game today, All that is required is percentile dice and 2d6, a healthy knowledge of TNG does not hurt.

I got to be Worf and fire 12 photon torpedoes(6 at a time) and 8 phasers at once. I love TNG but the game didn't really do it for me.

I can't sleep, very worried about Stuff

anxiety is strange, it puts you between a rock and a hard place. Can't do what you're stressed out about, but can't not do it either, and so you feel paralyzed.

It's no wonder why I lose myself in sedating habits that prevent me from feeling the anxiety that I'm feeling at any given moment.

Wait, wait! I have to accept the way Captain Yesterday raises his kids? No, way, man! I'm outta here!
Hey now, my kids may curse like pirates, but at least they wear their pantaloons :-D

You make them wear Pantaloons?

What sort of sick twisted torture is that?

Well, they are kids. So they just have to accept wearing pantaloons until they are old enough to have Kerrick the Smith forge them into their own Big Metal Unit.

Perhaps it would alleviate your anxiety, if but momentarily, by listening to a chorus of rubber ducks express their collective deep existential anguish? (be sure to turn the sound on) :)

I hope your anxiety and worries ease up soon.

Take a magic item to the enchanting table and disenchant it. The item is destroyed and you learn the enchantments on it.

Thanks!

This Connections video is quite interesting and inspires a whirlwind of questions and contemplations, also a few caveats.

manuscript illustrations of animals by artists who clearly only knew how to draw human faces are amusing.

"facsimile of a miniature in a very ancient Anglo-Saxon Manuscript"

Are you kidding me? That's a middle english inscription in blackletter! This isn't anglo-saxon for a moment.

The weekend went by too fast.

You disenchant something to learn the enchantment.

D'oh! At least I can stop pestering everyone at the academy now, I still think I'll kill that one d@*%+ead enchanter that tells me to figure it out myself, in hindsight I should've picked that up, no prob I actually have quite the armory on me, boy you guys should've seen me rampage thru the Thalmor Embassy last night, stupid a@*$&$~s!

I did not buy a sword. They really are hella expensive.

I had a dream last night where I was in some kind of accident and found myself in an alternate universe (sort of a scenario where infinite universes spawn from every decision in a quantum physics kind of way). I found myself in the year 2003 under a creep totalitarian regime, with bizarrely unappealing, yet functional, technology. I was really distressed about not being in my own timeline anymore.

I never determined at what point in history that universe departed from our own, but I judged that there were enough similarities that it was a few decades ago at most.

Why do I have dreams about theoretical physics?

The day is fresh and new, I stand here getting my crew working and pondering that age old question; "how on earth can anyone understand boys?" They are wonderful and thoughtful one minute, and then just when you think you are going to go have a pleasant night talking and watching anime they go and do something bone headed and inconsiderate, and so you get really mad, and the next time you see them they are suddenly all passionate and lovable and make it impossible to stay angry... And... And I suppose I should stop taking all this out on my poor workers and get busy myself.

You know, I hate it when I think a friend is on the same wave-length with me, but then ends up disappointing me by doing something stupid.

I was wondering why you wore this to work today

More seriously, anime and dearth of space between two people watching who could be attracted to each other often leads to awkward passes. It is up to you to forgive or condemn.

Grumble work....

I was offered a job as an apprentice Weaponsmith, once.

It was for the company that did all the weapons and armor for Gladiator but it was in my wife's hometown (New Glarus) and they insisted we live there and the wife vetoed, it was the right move, apprentice Weaponsmith doesn't pay for s!@%, still would've been awesome to put on the resume :-)

So I'm strolling by this crypt, just running through some dumb f&$% bandits camped outside, and this dude from inside the crypt is all like "psst! I need help rampaging, my aunt went in without me and I'm scared of the dark" so I'm all "sure I'll rampage thru your ancestors and steal their s%!&" so we get halfway and Galidor or gilador (everyone's a Dor in Skyrim) and he gets stuck on something, he's still rooting me on and talking s~%~ but he's halfway across the f*~*ing crypt! Naturally mister necromancer and his army of Draugr s*%+heads school me, also I just got fire runes spell and didn't see if I had the magic to cast it (I did not) I tried that a couple times and then told Gasidor or whatever to go f!~! himself and left, I did come back later and wrecked up the place but that's a tale for another day.

How could you not? I'm just flabbergasted. Of course I live in Kansas, named for the Kansa tribe. Kansa meaning "People of the south wind" which sounds all noble until you find out that the names of tribes that white folks use, are typically the name that others used for the tribes, not the ones they used. Then its a very stinky name. We Blame Oklahoma.

I assumed as much. It just stood out like a sore them or a Kardashian's backside to a native English speaker. Or close to native English speaker.

Swords are expensive - but worth every groat, forsooth! - so thou shouldest have boughteth one, even as ye Marquis of Freehold quoth, then thou couldeth have enslain cardboard boxes with it, even as I myself hath done today, when I managed to let go of ye olde lance and tear myself away from Sister Sultrina, anyway*

Regrettably, today was actually completely nun free :-(

When reading an old used book, I like seeing underlined marks. It's interesting to see what particular parts of the text were so important to the previous reader that warranted marking the pages.
