Yeah, according to one report I saw, some poor bastard was walking in the HOV lane and was hit by an off-duty cop. Didn't make it. I feel sorry for the cop - how f'd up is that s!#~?Although it did start off a wee bit craptastic. Woke with a headache, which had me slow moving out the door. Then there was traffic on the interstate that nearly made me late. It was kind if stupid - the problem was in the HOV lane, but the way the cops had parked their cars blocked part of the far left of the south bound lanes, thus creating a back up across all 4-5 lanes of the main roadway.I saw that accident on my way to work as well at 5:50 in the morning. At first I was confused why the HOV lane was closed at that hour. Then when I saw the flashing lights I realized why. The funniest part was that I was listening to the traffic report as I drove past and heard the announcer tell me that all roads in Houston were clear with no accidents or construction to report. Doh!
I more feel sorry for the guy that didn't make it. Whathappened that he was walking in the hov lane? Car accident?

It's nice to enter local gaming shop half the continent away from your home and find a book with your own name inside.
I also learned when and where local board games evening happens. Regretfully role-playing gaming club dissolved some time ago.

Yup. In fact it is quite easy to walk randomly into Poles. When I was returning from a walk yesterday I walked past two women speaking in Polish and there are at least three Polish shops selling Polish products around. Likely there are more.

So, yesterday the guy in the office next to mine was limping really bad. His ankle was swollen and hurting badly from when he'd twisted it back home. After he finally went to the hospital, turns out he broke it.
there was supposed to be a certain point in swelling where the ankle was more likely broken than not, but I can't recall what it is.
Also, did you ever get the feeling that <redacted> never really meant to <redacted> and was just hoping <redacted> would <redacted> all over the <redacted>? Because that's the impression I got.

If I were ever to move back north (for whatever apocalyptic reason) I'd totally be snow plow driver and actually wait around the corner to block people's driveways back up after they'd finished shoveling.
