Once you've softened it up, put a piece of bread with it in a sealed container to keep the sugar soft.

Nekkid brown sugar!

The main problem I have with the weather this year is I'm not looking forward to the three months to come of my first attempt at driving in snow and ice. I've only had my license for about two years now, and last year was a really mild winter in comparison. Minimal snow and almost zero ice.

On the other hand, might as well get it overwith.....

If you can, go out after it snows and when traffic is light, find a mostly open parking lot (with no cement space markers), and spend a few minutes in practice accelerating, braking, and turning in the snow. Try to get to the point you slide so you can learn to control it at low speeds.

I've driven in snow all my life, but I'll still do this with a new car, new tires, etc, to get a feel for how the vehicle handles and how far I can push it. I didn't do that with one vehicle and ended up spinning off the road into a ditch. It's worth the time.

Concentration of heavy metal bands in the world.

Cool, and probably accurate for the best bands. (although a bit shocked by Greece having so many)

Wasn't that a Rolling Stones collaboration with David Bowie?

EDIT: A song, I mean... not anything else *blush*

Also explains why almost all my favorite music is European (though I knew that already)

There's actually a parking lot like this near work. Might have to make a point of burning a lunch hour on practice time.

You mean that time where you don't start sweating when you open the front door?

No that's autumn, the best time of year

It's the time after that

It's the time of year where spending the afternoon huddled in front of the hearth/TV screen listening/watching to some good story-telling with a large mug of hot cocoa and a stiff drink is accepted as the most rational thing to do with your time.

Also: About half the kids in my old class were born between September and November. ;)

Winter is what turns boys into men, girls into women, and furry critters into clothes.

With the exception of computer instead of hearth/TV and the change in the drink, that's really 100% of the year for me.

Though I am working on getting out for walks and such more often. Really what's stopping me lately is not the cold, but rather the dark, thanks to the time change.

There! I repeat! There is no winter in Las Vegas! Only 70 degree temperatures.

Feel the heat mortals.

Although it did start off a wee bit craptastic. Woke with a headache, which had me slow moving out the door. Then there was traffic on the interstate that nearly made me late. It was kind if stupid - the problem was in the HOV lane, but the way the cops had parked their cars blocked part of the far left of the south bound lanes, thus creating a back up across all 4-5 lanes of the main roadway.

I saw that accident on my way to work as well at 5:50 in the morning. At first I was confused why the HOV lane was closed at that hour. Then when I saw the flashing lights I realized why. The funniest part was that I was listening to the traffic report as I drove past and heard the announcer tell me that all roads in Houston were clear with no accidents or construction to report. Doh!

Yeah, according to one report I saw, some poor bastard was walking in the HOV lane and was hit by an off-duty cop. Didn't make it. I feel sorry for the cop - how f'd up is that s&$~?

Just found out that a high school acquaintance died last night. That's the second one this week. Criminy!

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Wednesday! It's a cold morning here in Houston. Weather app on the phone says 38 (feels like 32). Not too shabby. Mid-November and I finally had to break out my warm hat.

But don't worry, it'll be back up into the 80s by the weekend!!

And finally got notification of my TWIC being ready. One more piece in the puzzle of me being able to go offshore.
