Another industrial ugly morning
The factory belches filth into the sky
He walks unhindered through the picket lines today
He doesn't think to wonder why
The secretaries pout and preen like cheap tarts on a red light street
But all he ever thinks to do is watch
And every single meeting with his so-called superior
Is a humiliating kick in the crotch
Many miles away something crawls to the surface of a dark Scottish lake
Pendobar 'Pip' Bushytoe |
Picks Lucille in a bizarre almost flamenco riff
Don't tell the director I said so
But are you safe Miss Gradenko?
We were at a policy meeting
They were planning new ways of cheating
I didn't want to rock your boat
But you sent this dangerous note
You've been letting your feelings show
Are you safe Miss Gradenko?
Miss Gradenko are you safe?
Are you safe Miss Gradenko?
Miss Gradenko are you safe?
Is anybody alive in here?
Is anybody alive in here?
Is anybody at all in here?
Nobody but us
Nobody but us
Is anybody alive in here?

Good morning everyone. Woke up to the bad news about Japan today. Still can't believe the scale of the earthquake and the resulting tsunami. I do hope Jess Door's friends there are okay.
+1 hope everyone in Japan, and anywhere else the Tsunami hits are ok today.

People who work at Kentucky Fried Crap or Crap-fil-a
I like Chik-fil-a for what it is, when I can find one.

+1. I think it's pretty tasty for fast food. Then again I like KFC too. I don't think it's high quality. In fact I am quite certain it's crap. But I still like it. For me fried chicken is kinda like pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good.:)

Unsurprisingly, I haven't heard from them yet. Everyone I know is on Shikoku, which is south of the main island of Honshuu. The earthquake came to the northern portion of Honshuu, so while I"m sure they felt the quake and some of the aftershocks, they're protected from the majority of the tsunami by the larger island of Honshuu.

Here's hoping everyone is alright. I know Japan will mourn for a time, but they will adapt, overcome and rebuild as they have time and time again.

Sigh...I miss the days of free coffee at work.
Here, it's a quality issue. Coffee is free in the breakrooms, but it's that syrup stuff from hot water dispensers and quality is low. It is hot, though.
I too miss free coffee. The coffee in the Liberal Arts faculty lounge is SO bad now, I can't force myself to drink it like I used to. I have to pay for Subway coffee once I run out of my thermos or when I don't have time to pack my thermos.

Why is it that little cat always comes by to snuggle *just* as I am gonna get out of bed?
Edit: trying to look innocent but she fails. Wonder if "cat conspiracy" is an acceptable excuse for not being at work...

Mine just tries to keep me home by head butting my legs and running in front of me and crouching in the hope I'll trip and break a leg or get a concussion too bad for me to figure out how to leave the house.

That's EXACTLY what Pebbles did once!!!
I was in bed, asleep. I feel her crawl in and go to sleep next to me. A few hours later, my alarm goes off, and I'm getting ready to get out of bed. She notices me moving, and so gets up, and decides to sit on my chest to keep me from leaving. This wouldn't be so bad if not for the look she gave me when I opened my eyes. It was like staring into the eyes of Bastet herself- my kitty looked imperious and regal sitting there, glaring at me as if to say "You'll stay in bed if you know what's good for you, food/water/heat providing ape".

My wife just reminded me -- we have good friends that are there. (That's what you get for having missionaries as friends.) Their family is ok -- getting around was difficult (to say the least). It sounded like what others are saying is the general response -- it sucks but they were better prepared and everyone is ready to help those who need it.
