Isn't it fun when a web search explains a mild medical problem you've been too lazy to see a doctor about?
Oral allergy syndrome. I now have a name for why I can't eat certain fruits raw, but can eat them just fine when cooked. And it's associated with my respiratory allergies. Who would have thunk?

If I eat pineapple raw, the inside of my mouth and my tongue burns, and if I still eat more (pineapple is delicious, dammit!), I can't taste anything correctly. Sometimes for over 24 hours.

We just learned that Diane's oldest grand daughter is not starting high school tomorrow where she was enrolled because the district lost her paper work after accepting her!
School starts tomorrow, and she is not enrolled any where, and it's 2:49 here, and Diane is scrambling to fix it all.

Sissyl wrote:Bensodiazepines with a raised dose like you describe is a matter of slowly lowering. If you haven't been on it for years, it takes perhaps a month or so of even lowering, otherwise best practice is about ten percent of the time you have used it. This way you don't get too much anxiety due to withdrawal, and in weeks that are rough, you can let the dose stay one extra week at the previous level. This is a good reason not to use bensodiazepines for other than acute conditions.can't favorite this enough.

According to the article, oral allergies to tropical fruits are usually associated with latex allergies. Are you allergic to latex?

I have this as well. I can typically eat fruits and salads until ragweed kicks up. Then any bite of carrot, kiwi, melon (any sort), pineapple, banana, etc. causes me to make funny noises trying to scratch the itch above my tonsils.
Of course, some progress to scalp itching and hives on my back, so that's straying outside the oral realm, but it rarely gets that bad.

A holiday today. 93rd anniversary of battle of Warsaw (date of holiday arbitrary picked from Aug 12-25 range because of coinciding church holiday) and a Day Of Polish Armed Forces.
