Yay Zork!

Wow, you really enjoyed Zork.

Me, I prefer sorkar. They're cute.

I once tried to write a story using first, second, and third person perspectives in different sections. It became a horrible mess, but it was quite fun.

Come to think of it, Mohsin Hamid did that in The Reluctant Fundamentalist (great novel, by the way).

My English-teacher in Gymnasiet (3-year education programs aimed either at work-preparation or university-preparation between the 9-year compulsory school and university) used to address her classes in the second person, which really annoyed me for some reason.

Pretty sure Grues can find better food than voles.

It can often feel like it's an order, or taking away your personal free agency, especially coming from an authority figure like a teacher.

A little less annoying in written/read format, where your access to information is by default limited to what the author is willing to reveal, whereas in life you typically have other options.

Japanese warships in Polish harbor!

The Japanese unveiled their latest "destroyer" the other day. I put that I quotes because it looked suspiciously like a mini-carrier or an amphib instead.

But that's nothing. What's really weird is seeing a Japanese Navy ship (or sub) docked in Pearl Harbor.

I saw a bit of it on japanese news the other day. I was disappointed that it did not transform and start knocking over buildings.

Unrevealed feature. Triggered by presence of nearby Kaiju/aliens.

Rain!

Or maybe it will become rainstorm?

First person smartass can be great.

So the hints of incoming headache weren't caused (solely) by heat?

Not a rainstorm.

And not long enough to significantly reduce temperature.

I just read a hilarious request for private tutor...

Teach physics to the princess on the precipe:
I am looking for a valiant brave, who will defeat the beast of laziness and loathing towards science, specifically physics, and then will guide my scion on the bright path toward the next class - I will add that the firstborn is doing what she can to prevent that.

The final confrontation takes place at the end of August.

How long it will take to defeat the beast? I don't know. I hope it will take no more than ten rounds of 1.5 hour each.

I offer 30 silver coins per one. I know it is little but there is drought this year, crops are meager and the treasure is empty.

The task might be hard and arduous, however it might happen that you won't have to do anything because the princess will be painting her nails.

The princess currently lies and sighs to her beloved [here follows the rest of the sentence about his or hers presence somewhere around inn in Veverly Hills I do not get, probably missing some sort of context, like knowledge of geographic region or current teenage reference].

ARRIVE AND FIGHT!

Despaired Mother

I do not hate physics paradoxically enough, but that was one of the finest things I have ever read.

Quiet day in FAWTLand.

That must have caused the website to crash, we must post, post, post!
That'll stop it going down.

Anyway, why is it I always over-pack?
Now what else do I need for my festival weekend?

Even nights are too hot to live...

I just want some good weather for my festival.

To all my Houston Fawtl friends, y'all want to help me unpack on my birthday? Solnes informed me that we will be unpacking on it this year. :D

I will be happy to assist! I offered to help the zombeh, but so far he's been so busy, I haven't even seen him yet! Maybe we'll meet when helping to unpack your place!

I'm on the NW side of town too. SWEET.

I am the bad zombeh!!! I do feel crappy about that, but I have indeed been busy. The only FAWTLY I've seen so far is Tordek while over at my brother's house.

Incidentally, Jess. I'm in Spring, right off Kuykendahl Rd, not far from FM 2920. Is that far from you?

Spring is where the wife says we're going to be! :D

To the west or to the east of Interstate 45 Frontage Rd?

Also, is that tree-covered area north of Spring Cypress Rd and around Spring Stuebner Rd private terrain or is it open to little zombieh and drowling invasion? (or maybe it's a part of Montgomery County Preserve?)

Huzzah!!! You'll probably be "just down the road", which could mean anything from a brisk walk to a 30 minute drive.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Thursday! Happy Kingmaker day!!! Tonight I shall endeavor to kill my PCs.

Forgot my breakfast this morning. Sad zombie is sad.

For Freehold - did you know that blastr.com (SyFy Channel's news website) has been running regular articles this week on female cosplayers? And by article I mean photo galleries of said players in various costumes.

Scarab Sages

I recalled the picture galleries you'd post after events in that city you live in (the name escapes me at the moment), and thought you might be interested.

Would be for me too, save that we are in one-shot time, so it's Ebon trying to kill a bunch of 17th-level nutcases instead.

Silver Crusade

Last night I had a dream where an unnatural cold was settling over everything and people were all shivering. Then I woke up and realized I had left the air conditioner on (I usually don't at night) and I was freezing.

Am I alone in thinking an alarm ringtone should be as obnoxious as possible to ensure the listener hears it and wakes up to shut it off quickly?

The catch is making it irritating enough to prompt rapid silence, but not so irritating that, in the course of ensuring said silence, the alarm source is damaged.

Ooh, no. Better is the stealth alarm.

Yeah, but they got some canon instead so the sound is bickering fanboys.
