End is near!

At least of Texas as we know it...

I was many things in my life but I haven't been naked end-time prophet... Yet.

Here's to several bottles of water. Ladies and gentlemen, stay moist and wet.

That's ungodly.

(For the Euro-FAWTLies, that's 47*)

Thanks for the translation. That's insane.
Uninhabitable, if you ask me.
I am at the verge of fainting just by looking at that temperature being written down...

That's why I don't live in the desert. I don't care if its a "dry heat"; man was not meant to live in those temperatures.

To the brother I love dearly, may the coming days be brighter Freehold.

As always, I remain, as you are, a gentleman at your beck and call.

What's going on with Freehold? :(

A.k.a. the start of the working week.

In a manner of speaking, er egging, yes.

Yeah, we've been hovering between 115-120 the past several days in Southern Arizona. It's worse where I am since the humidity also kicked in yesterday... so high heat and medium humidity = YUCK.

To those applying for work, good luck!

Glad you made it to the land of the sane(ish), Az!

Kingmaker was fawesome (did I do that right) last week. Colossal Owlbear is now a tree thanks to wonky improbability elixer. Said tree is now my fey character's demense. Yay!

Starting to gear up for student teaching this fall. Bought a pair of supportive, professional-looking shoes on sale (30% off is wonderful). Even better, these shoes are cute! Go me!

Now to go find slacks and skirts, have said slacks tailored, and maybe see about investing in a skirt suit that doesn't look dowdy.

During my teaching days I used a pair of shoes I got from brother that he'd gotten from a waiter at the restaurant he was interning at (they were too big for him and too small for the waiter) that he'd apparently bought through a shop specialising in work clothes - best damn shoes I've ever had.

Well, after my last pair of football boots - nothing beats leather shoes that have moulded themselves to your feet after you've spent a few hours sitting with them in a footbath.

Suddenly very grateful to have avoided the Jerk DMs that seem far too common.

Seriously.

Considering a trip to Phoenix to punch a stranger in the nose.

I have REALLY high arches. I usually have to use inserts for extra support to keep my feet (and knees, and hips) from hurting. Most "work" shoes (even high-quality ones) just don't support enough.

Opposite from me then - I'm no flat-foot, but it's close enough that I would have had to get inserts for it if I'd kept playing football. (Running for 2X40 minutes with a lot of twisting and turning and sudden stops can be hell on the knee-joints and the achilles tendons).

In non-shoe related fashion I can report that it might be 1990 again. When I was down to the town centre yesterday I saw at least 10 youngish women sporting the baggy-sweater/hoodie-and-bicycle pants combo, and one of the guests at a music podcast I listen to had brought a single that sounded suspiciously like something Stephen Malkmus could have written.

I really have no problem with any of these things. I patiently await the second coming of Doug Hopkins.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday! First one in Texas!! Spending th morning with my brother and his kids, before getting down to the business of conversion.

Scarab Sages

Gotta get my water turned on. Then maybe head over to the courthouse to change my liscence plate. Or go to the DMV to get a driver's liscence.

Silver Crusade

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Scarab Sages

Also might try to get over to a store today to get some grocery supplies.

Scarab Sages

And maybe get over to Lowe's/Home Depot to get a new fridge.

Silver Crusade

When does the new job start, AZ?

And are you in that much of a hurry to ditch your PA license plate and driver's license?

Well, Scott's relocation to Texas hit a slight snag when he was stopped at the boarder and checked for cowboy hat and boots. Meanwhile, Max and Gary's efforts to keep people from fleeing the northeast extended to a new system involving robotic drones and genetically modified rose bushes. And, across town, Mike realized his road trip to.....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

New job starts next Monday. But it's not so much being in a hurry to get rid of, I just figured it'd be easier to get this stuff done while I had a free week.

Scarab Sages

Time to get going. Later folks.

My FLCS is sponsoring a ladies reading group, and they're starting with Y: The Last Man. My daughter is reading all the trades now.

Kidlet's birthday is off to a good start. He got cheetos for breakfast and a new 3DS game. Off to Dave and Buster's in a bit for yet more video game fun and then a stop at the Lego store on the way home. We actually still have so many points left over from last years birthday visit to D&B that this year is virtually free. :)

It's hard to believe the kidlet is already ten. Wasn't he just turning one like yesterday?! o.O

cool. Not sure how the series works as focus for a reading group, but more power to them. I had issues with the ending.

Today I went to check out a comic book shop that I had heard had RPG products. That turned out to be false: comics, miniature, and boardgames, but no RPGs.

Next door was a crazy old-fashioned soda fountain that looked like it had been there since the 20s. I was able to get a tasty root beer float, so the trip was not a total bust.

where is this place?

Yikes! These houseplants are feisty!

What's funny is these plants aren't even the "boss fight". The PCs are still in peril, even if the cleric is no longer being crushed to death by an assassin vine.

Has anyone played battle for wesnoth? So much turn based strategy fun.
