Back at work.

Now, I regularly refer to my job as a salt mine, but it's usually all in good fun. Not so today. It's colder than a whedon characters death scene in here.

Surprisingly, it's comfortably warm in my office, despite being usually stupid cold.

Also started watching a recent documentary about Olof Palme - and now I'm kinda wishing I'd been born earlier, so my only real memory of him wasn't waking up one morning when I was six to find my parents watching the news on TV talking about him having been assassinated.

I remember that too. That was quite a busy year. Challenger crash, Olof Palme's death, Czernobyl disaster...

It'll be the other people stealing your heat.

Anyway a lovely Boxing day to all. Sorry to hear about your loss Klaus.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Had a very nice Christmas. John and I went to his sister's house where the whole family was gathered. He was rather nervous about me being there; I had met everyone previously, but he had never brought a guy to a family holiday before. To be honest, I suspect that he had attended these things by himself for so long that his family was genuinely happy that he had someone in his life.

Everyone was very nice and the food was fantastic. Deep fried turkey (which I had never had and it was fantastic), a ham, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, creamed onions, stuffing, apple sauce, and all manner of other fantastic things.

We were in Pennsylvania and there was a bit of snow on the ground, so I suppose we had succeeded in going somewhere to have a white Christmas :)

Sounds fawsome, ch.

I heard you guys got hit with a couple of tornadoes and had some power loss.

I was fine, didn't lose power. I was driving across town during the hurricane warning to visit some friends on the south side of town (I'm on the north west side), and it was windy. My happy new car dealt with it well, though. I hung out with the same friends I had last year's Christmas dinner with, and we watched the Amazing Spiderman, which they hadn't seen yet, on their new blue ray player. Other than the wife having to cover her eyes during scenes with spiders (severe arachnophobia, but she likes Spiderman. It gets awkward...), it was great! For a movie about a man that gets his powers from a spider bite, there's really not too much she missed out on. :)

And I got a picture of my concept of a new viking paladin colored while watching. Yay!

Had an interesting Christmas.

On one hand, it was the coldest Christmas we've had in a century (about 7 C°. Keep in mind we're in Summer down here!), some rain included.

On the other hand, one of my cousins came out of the closet. Everyone took it pretty good.

Then one of my uncles died. He had been terminally ill for about three weeks now; massive heart failure. The funeral is in a few hours; I'll be crying my eyes out. Man I really loved that guy. I'll miss him greatly. God rest his soul.

Also, my brother gave me a XIX-century sword-cane. I still have no idea where he found it, but it's pretty awesome.

Other than that, had the chance to spend time with my whole family (which, due to its size and geographical distribution, is something hard to do), something which I thoroughly enjoy.

And the food was awesome. I just can't have enough turkey with duchess potatoes and hot apple sauce.

I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle - that's really hard. I hope you being around family during this time makes it easier, not harder, for you. Enjoy all the great stories everyone has to share about him, and share some of your favorites!

I misread this as porns(didn't have my glasses on). Which worried me, as the type of porns that I would enjoy are different from the porns ch would enjoy...

Tired from hosting the Christmas party has shifted to tired from snowblowing. I do my house and the neighbor's, since he's 85 and has earned a respite from stuff like that. Still, it makes for an achy old tree.

Hehe, add an R to 'an achy' and you get 'anarchy'. Must be a Freudian slip in there somewhere.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Another fine day down in in southern Louisiana! No sure what we're gonna do today, but it'll likely involve going shopping. My dad's birthday is tomorrow, and my nieces' shared birthday is on 6 January.

At some point in time there will be boiled crawfish. Oh yes! There WILL be boiled crawfish.

Also, it's amazing how quickly the boy has taken a shine to my mom's chihuahua, Amy. He runs after her all the time, and pets her very nicely.

Room's spinning a bit...

On the other hand, pizza!

"Oh. You. I thought I got rid of you ages ago. What were you doing lurking in allegories biting me?"

Maybe if we hold perfectly still she won't see us.

My condolences, Klaus.

Also, what hurricane in Texas?

Good day, hope everyone's day will be good.

Never had crawfish, boiled or otherwise.

While going to a shop I captured a lose balloon that escaped some poor kid clutches and was blown away by wind. I think that it fills up my good deed limit for this year.

This weather bites. I wish it was cold enough to be snow. Then it wouldn't be nearly as awful.

Silver Crusade

I don't know about that, but this is definitely a cold, cold rain.

We have moderately decent autumn this winter. It's 10 degree Celsius and no longer wet (it rained a tiny-weeny bit earlier today but I hope it won't rain more later as I am going to pub to see some friends in about an hour).

Of course it would be easier!!!! It also wouldn't hurt as much when it snows sideways into your face!!!!!

Actually, the right type of snow in combination with strong winds can hurt like hell.

There were some tornadoes in South Texas + on Christmas due to a weather front that I got in just ahead of. I'm helping family in College Station; my sister is an Aggie.

Dude! How long you in town? I run my Jade Regent game on Sunday afternoons, and we have an NPC (a female barbarian the party loves, as she had the hit points to soak up the evil cleric's negative channel and save the party's butt once) if you have the time an inclination to stop by!

Our plans are working. We only need about 4 more FAWTLs to hit critical mass...

I'm not sure, but I might be available for Sunday. I'd love to stop by if I can.

EDIT: I'll PM my cell number.

Nah. I just conk out before the Puffin does, then wake up after a few hours because he's not there.
