How's life in FAWTLville today?
I look forward to your unflinching review.

Why can't people follow simple directions? Honestly, how hard is it understand "Left out of the parking lot. Left at the stoplight. Right at the next stoplight. 1 1/2 blocks up, on the right"? I just gave these very directions to a guy, and he stared at me blankly then said "Never mind, I'll put it in my GPS."
Speaking as someone who is both directionally challenged and has extremely poor short-term memory:
It's not always that easy.
I can't hold more than the most basic instructions in my head for very long, especially while driving. And by most basic, I mean "turn left/right at the next turn". Sometimes not even that much; I remember one incident when I was first learning to drive (less than a year ago - despite being 27, I've only had my driver's license about 5 months) where my mom told me to turn at the next stop sign, but she told me a good two or three minutes up the road and by the time I reached said sign I'd forgotten which way she'd said to turn. We sat there arguing for a good five minutes because I couldn't remember which way to go and she refused to tell me. Thank goodness it was a back-country road on a late autumn Saturday and not something more busy, otherwise the people behind us would have murdered us.
For the sake of people like me: write it down. If I have it in writing, I can follow it. Spoken? I'll forget. Guarantee it. Unless I've driven the route - DRIVEN, not ridden as a passenger - at least three times.

Mailman griped at me a few Saturdays back for a similar issue, parking in front of the mailbox on one of my few weekends off. Parents were out of the house at the time; Dad kind of wants it to happen again so he can give the guy a piece of his mind about not being lazy about walking an extra three feet.

From my local news.
Things happening in West Sweden today: Jehovas Witnesses has large meeting in Scandinavium.
Bruce Springsteen plays at Ullevi.
And there's a tractor race in Stora Lundby.
I have a very good Iron Maiden bootleg dvd from a show in Ullevi

Tractor race sounds like fun.

I'm sorry, but as someone who's had to manoeuvre my way past awkwardly parked cars to get at peoples' mailboxes I have to side with your mailman. If his job is anything like mine, he's on a very tight timer, and wasting time because someone can't park their car a meter further forward is annoying - especially if you get home from work an hour late because it's gotten really widespread on your particular round.

Oh, wait. You were serious?
Puhlease. New Orleans is, always has been, and always will be a s*@$-hole of a city that smells like puke, piss, and stale beer.
That's part of it's charm.
True,...
But that's (usually) only during Mardi Gras. ;)

So $600 to repair an old, crappy AC unit that we won't even be sure is fixed, or $1200 we don't have for a new one. $150 for a new hard drive and other stuff to get the PC working again. And the dog decided that tearing out our screens would be a good idea because OMG PEOPLE ARE OUTSIDE!!!
Some days, I want to give up.

Boo! I'm sorry, Treppa. That sucks. :(
I'd be leery of trying to fix it at that price with no assurance of success. Ick.
And bad puppy!
I have no danger of having my screens ruined...because I have none. Well, that's a lie. Two windows have them...
