Liberty's Edge

Got a chance to play this game over the week during the BETA. I hate to get behind a new mmo, especially a NEW new one (as in just releasing) due to all the bugs usually associated with such things but I think I'm going to have to put myself out there and get this one.

Lots and lots of fun.

It's a very enjoyable game so far. The class/spec system makes the characters very customizable, and anyone who has played any of the popular MMOs of the past six or seven years will find the controls to be very familiar.

I'm reserving judgment until I see how their endgame pans out. It worries me that the Betas thus far have only shown the game from levels 1-30, and I have been burned too many times in the past by MMORPGs with great potential in the low- to mid-level game but lacking in content once the level cap has been reached.

Just looked into the game, how is it that they haven't had their pants sued off them by Palladium?

Well for starters I'd be shocked if Palladium could muster the capital to mount a legal challenge. Aside from that Rift is not Rifts with an S. The idea of extra-planar rifts in the fabric of reality is nothing unique to Palladium. Other then that there really isn't anything similar.

What worries me more is the backend engine, are they still using Gamebryo? Frankly EVE has soured me to most "traditional" MMO structures.

Palladium actually has filed suit against them. Part of the grounds is that this could be an issue for RIFTS moving into the MMO market.

Yeah, and that suit was dismissed by the judge who found it to have no merit. The countersuit, on the other hand...

This is another version of WoW with a little WAR added in. It is not very good.

I truly miss DAoC before it was sold to EAdestroyerofall.

Speaking of DAoC and the phrase "not very good"...they go together like peanut butter and jelly.

I agree, the closest I've seen to EVE uses HERO system as the basis (could be cool), but has a hard death cap of 10.

Uh ... yeah, like, no thanks. Not for something I'm paying to play.

Dark Archive

I've been playing Rift since the second week or so of release. I love it. The class system is what hooked me. There's a multiclassing-esqe vibe to it, with a character getting more "class features" the more he takes "feats" and focuses on elements specific to a class.

Now, like most MMOs probably, I'm invested due to the fun and friendly people I've connected with through the game and am enjoying exploring the nooks and crannies of the game world and learning the lore.

I play as Kielrik on the Faeblight PvE-RPG server and am part of the guild Telaran Artistry. Other characters include Rusilka, Benrae, Gurdaggin, and Ensilee. Look me up if you're ever playing a character there.

Sovereign Court

I have joined recently, though I did not have much time to play. Only made it to lvl 3 so far.

Looks good but confusing.

More later I guess.

The Exchange

I'm playing RIFT now. Joined about three weeks ago. I like that it is very similar to WoW and WAR, in the fact it took the best parts of both of those games and merged them together. I play these games for joint gaming with my friends and to allow me to explore new content. It's the unlocking of new content and fun of levelling up that gets me hooked on MMO's. This one has story in spades, and since I play on a PvE server, I can create classes for both facions and learn all their content that way.

End game has never been high on my list of priorities, particulalry gear farming which seems to be all that WoW is about when yo cap out.

This one resparked my interest in MMO's and that means they have me for about a year at least before tha head of steam runs out.

Cheers
