Grit as an optial rule for any fighter

Gunslinger Discussion: Round 1

Does anyone else feel like grit should be an optional rule that replaces the 1st level feat of any fighter archetype {AsI know of none that replace it off hand} and then have a whole slew of deeds made for things other then the gunslinger that you can take in place of a fighter feat?

Much like rage powers or rogue talents.

Anyhow just a thought

It is an optional rule for any Class as long as they take the feat.

yea but they only get one grit and one deed.

Im thinking the same thing, grit should be dumped.

what the grit and deeds should do should just be per day uses.
Otherwise every fighter should get grit.
It doesnt seem right that the gunslinger is made as a variant fighter anf then gets a whole new mechanic.

They also have access to the other Grit Deed Feats... of which Lightning Reload, Secret Stash, and Signature Deed are all a part of, these are staples for the Gunslinger and Everyone has access to them.

If the Fighter had access to ALL of them then why play a Gunslinger at all? I would be able to make a fighter able to do it better.

and that should NOT be the case

Unless of course the Gunslinger was broken down into a series of (worthwhile) feats that could allow any fighter to choose to be a gunslinger. That's getting into homebrew though.

I love grit but I'm not too keen on guns. I would love to see grit incorporated in a Swashbuckler fighter archetype.

More what I was thinking, the grit mechanic is pretty good, just add some deed "talents" that you can take for any type of fighter along the line of rogue talents.

Which would open up a few more options then the fighter has now.

+1.

Though I kinda think EVERYONE should have access to grit and the associated feats/deeds and the gunslinger should have better class abilities and bonus grit feats... sorta like the cavalier and inquisitor get teamwork feats.
